Abstract

초음파 트랜스듀서는 능동소자에 인접한 알루미늄 층의 열전도로 열을 분산시키고 정합층의 경계면을 복합체 구조로 형성하여 음향특성을 향상시킨다. 본 발명은 능동소자와 인접한 위치에 알루미늄의 금속층으로 인하여 능동소자에서 발생한 열 및 다중 반사에 의해 발생한 열을 발열시켜 초음파 트랜스듀서의 열 분산 특성이 향상된다. 본 발명은 초음파 신호가 제1 물질과 제2 물질 사이의 경계면에 복합체 구조와 금속층을 통해 피검사체로 전달되는 경우 초음파 트랜스듀서의 감도(Sensitivity) 및 대역폭(Bandwidth)이 향상된다.

Description

음향특성 및 열특성을 향상시키는 초음파 트랜스듀서
본 발명은 초음파 트랜스듀서에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 능동소자에 인접한 알루미늄 층의 열전도로 열을 분산시키고 정합층의 경계면을 복합체 구조로 형성하여 음향특성을 향상시키는 초음파 트랜스듀서에 관한 것이다.
초음파 진단장치는 초음파 신호를 피검사체에 쏘아 반사된 초음파 신호로 피검사체의 내부 조직을 영상화하는 장치이다. 초음파 진단장치는 피검사체의 진단 부위에 초음파 신호를 송신한 후, 서로 다른 음향 임피던스(Acoustic Impedance)를 갖는 피검사체 내부의 조직들의 경계로부터 반사된 초음파 신호를 수신함으로써 진단 부위의 영상 정보를 획득할 수 있다.
초음파 진단장치는 초음파 신호를 피검사체로 송신하고 피검사체로 반사된 초음파 신호를 수신하기 위한 초음파 트랜스듀서(Ultrasonic Transducer)가 포함된다.
종래의 초음파 트랜스듀서는 렌즈, 음향정합층, 능동소자, 후면층을 포함한 다양한 층으로 구성될 수 있다.
종래의 초음파 트랜스듀서는 초음파의 전달시 각 소자 간의 음향 임피던스의 차이가 발생하지 않도록 능동소자와 렌즈 사이에 초음파를 효율적으로 전반시키는 음향정합층을 형성한다.
이러한 음향정합층은 음향 임피던스의 차이를 경감하도록 복수개의 층으로 구성할 수도 있다.
음향정합층을 복수개의 층으로 구성하는 경우, 다른 음향 임피던스를 갖는 복수의 음향정합층을 단계적으로 적층된다.
초음파 트랜스듀서는 음향 임피던스가 높은 재료와 낮은 재료를 부피비가 각각 다르게 여러 층으로 제작한 후, 부피비가 높은 순서로 적층시켜 정합층을 제작하면 음향 임피던스가 순차적으로 변하게 된다.
이러한 음향정합층은 각 층의 배열이 어렵고 음향정합층의 제작 비용 및 시간이 많이 소요되는 단점이 있다.
종래의 초음파 트랜스듀서는 능동소자에서 발생한 열과 다중 반사로 인한 열로 렌즈가 가열되어 렌즈의 표면 온도가 올라가며, 초음파 트랜스듀서의 전송 파워 및 성능을 제한하는 원인이 된다.
이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, 본 발명이 해결하고자 하는 과제는 능동소자에 인접한 알루미늄 층의 열전도로 열을 분산시키고 정합층의 경계면을 복합체 구조로 형성하여 음향특성을 향상시키는 초음파 트랜스듀서를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.
상기 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서는,
적어도 하나의 압전소자를 포함하는 능동소자; 및
능동소자의 상부에 형성되어 능동소자와 피검사체 간의 음향 임피던스 차이를 정합하는 다층 구조의 정합층을 포함하고, 정합층은 각각 서로 다른 음향 임피던스 크기를 가지는 다수개의 층으로 형성되며, 능동소자에서 발생하는 열을 분산시키는 금속층을 더 포함하며, 금속층은 능동소자의 일면에 금속을 형성하거나 정합층을 구성하는 적어도 하나의 층 중에서 음향 임피던스 크기가 가장 큰 층의 일면에 금속을 형성한다.
상기 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서는,
적어도 하나의 압전소자를 포함하는 능동소자;
능동소자의 일면에 형성되는 연성 인쇄회로기판;
능동소자의 타면에 형성되는 접지 시트;
접지 시트의 일면에 형성되는 능동소자와 피검사체 간의 음향 임피던스 차이를 정합하는 다층 구조의 정합층을 포함하고, 정합층은 접지 시트의 상부면에 형성되어 능동소자에서 발생하는 열을 분산시키는 금속층;
금속층의 일면에 형성되어 제1 임피던스 값을 가지는 제1 물질로 구성된 제1층;
제2 임피던스 값을 가지는 제2 물질로 구성된 제2층; 및
제1층과 제2층 사이에 형성되고 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 결합되어 제1층 및 제2층의 음향 임피던스의 변화폭을 줄이는 제3층을 포함한다.
전술한 구성에 의하여, 본 발명은 능동소자와 인접한 위치에 알루미늄의 금속층으로 인하여 능동소자에서 발생한 열 및 다중 반사에 의해 발생한 열을 발열시켜 초음파 트랜스듀서의 열 분산 특성이 향상된다.
본 발명은 초음파 신호가 제1 물질과 제2 물질 사이의 경계면에 복합체 구조와 금속층을 통해 피검사체로 전달되는 경우 초음파 트랜스듀서의 감도(Sensitivity) 및 대역폭(Bandwidth)이 향상된다.
본 발명은 정밀 연삭과 연마 가공을 통해 초음파 트랜스듀서의 정합층을 제조하여 두께가 전체적으로 두꺼워지므로 제조 공정이 용이하고 저렴해지는 효과가 있다.

본 발명의 실시예에 따른 음향특성 및 열특성을 향상시키는 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 후면층(Backing Layer)(110), 기판(Substrate)(120), 연성 인쇄회로기판(Flexible Printed Circuit Board, FPCB)(130), 능동소자(Active Element)(140), 접지시트(Ground Sheet, GRS)(150), 정합층(160) 및 음향렌즈(170)를 포함한다.
초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 소자(Element)가 단일 개인 단일 소자 트랜스듀서(Single Element Transducer)이거나, 소자가 다수 개로 구성된 배열형 트랜스듀서(Array Transducer)일 수 있다. 어레이 트랜스듀서의 종류는 직선 배열형(Linear Array), 곡선 배열형(Convex Array), 위상 배열형(Phased Array) 등을 포함하며, 본 발명은 단일 소자 트랜스듀서와 모든 형태의 배열형 트랜스듀서에 적용 가능하다. 이하에서는 배열형 트랜스듀서의 경우를 중심으로 설명한다.
후면층(110)은 음향 임피던스가 능동소자(140)와 잘 매칭되도록 구성된다. 후면층(110)은 우수한 흡음 특성인 음향 감쇠 특성을 가지도록 구성될 수 있다.
우수한 흡음 특성을 가진 후면층(110)은 전면에 형성되는 능동소자(140)의 자유 진동을 억제하여 초음파의 펄스 폭을 감소시킬 뿐만 아니라 능동소자(140)에서 발생하여 후면으로 초음파가 불필요하게 전파되는 것을 차단함으로써 영상 왜곡이 생기는 것을 효과적으로 방지한다.
후면층(110)은 흡음 특성이 우수한 재질의 물질을 사용하여 하나 또는 복수의 층으로 형성될 수 있다.
후면층(110)은 능동소자(140)로부터 발생한 초음파 신호가 원치 않는 방향인 후면층(110) 방향으로 전파되어 그 반사파가 되돌아 오는 것을 최소화한다.
후면층(110)의 상부면은 기판(120)이 결합하며, 기판(120)의 상부면에는 연성 인쇄회로기판(130)이 결합된다.
후면층(110)은 연성 인쇄회로기판(130)의 상부면에 위치하는 능동소자(140)와 상호 전기적 신호를 주고 받을 수 있다.
기판(120)은 후면층(110) 방향으로 전파되는 초음파 신호를 차단 또는 감쇠시키기 위해서 능동소자(140)와 후면층(110)의 사이에 배치된다.
FPCB(130)는 능동소자(140)의 후면에 형성되고 능동소자(140)의 전기적으로 연결되어 능동소자(140)에 전압을 인가시킨다.
능동소자(140)는 초음파 신호를 발생시켜 피검사체로 전송하고, 피검사체로부터 반사되는 초음파 신호를 수신한다.
능동소자(140)는 단일 층 또는 다수의 층으로 구성되며, 능동소자(140)가 적층 구조를 가지는 경우, 단일 층의 능동소자(140)를 갖는 구조에 비해 음향 임피던스를 줄일 수 있고 정전용량을 증대시킬 수 있다.
능동소자(140)는 FPCB(130)로부터 전기신호가 인가되는 등의 방법으로 에너지가 가해지면 초음파 신호를 발생한다. 능동소자(140)의 종류는 초음파 트랜스듀서의 종류에 따라서 달라질 수 있는데, 통상적으로 압전소자(Piezoelectric Element)로 구성된다.
압전소자는 압전효과를 통해 기계적인 압력이 가해지면 전압이 발생하고, 전압이 인가되면 기계적인 변형이 발생하는 성질을 가진다. 압전소자들의 형상이나 배열되는 패턴에 특별한 제한은 없다. 압전소자는 티탄산 지르콘산 납(Lead Zirconate Titanate: PZT) 계 등의 압전 세라믹, 단결정, 이들 재료와 고분자 재료를 복합한 복합 압전체, 또는 폴리불화비닐리덴(PolyVinyliDene Fluoride: PVDF)로 대표되는 고분자 재료의 압전체 등으로 형성될 수 있다.
접지 시트(Ground Sheet)(150)는 능동소자(140)와 정합층(160)의 사이에 형성되고 정합층(160)은 접지 시트(150)를 통해 능동소자(140)와 상호 전기적 신호를 주고 받을 수 있다.
정합층(160)은 능동소자(140)와 피검사체 사이에 배치되어 두 구성요소 사이의 음향 임피던스 차이를 중재한다.
정합층(160)은 능동소자(140)와 피검사체 간 음향 임피던스를 정합하여 능동소자(140)에서 발생한 초음파를 피검사체로 전달하거나 피검사체에 의하여 반사되어 되돌아오는 반사 신호의 손실을 저감시킨다. 정합층(160)은 능동소자(140)와 피검사체 간 음향 임피던스의 급격한 변화에 따른 영상 왜곡 등의 문제를 감소시키는 완충 역할을 한다.
통상적으로 능동소자(140)인 압전소자의 음향 임피던스는 약 30MRayl 정도인데 반하여 피검사체인 인체 연부조직(Soft Tissue)의 음향 임피던스는 약 1.5MRayl 정도이다.
만일 정합층(160)이 없다면, 능동소자(140)에서 발생한 초음파 또는 피검사체에서 반사된 초음파는 능동소자(140)와 피검사체의 경계면을 투과하지 못하고 대부분 반사되거나 산란된다.
효과적으로 음향 임피던스 차이의 중재를 위해서는 정합층(160)의 음향 임피던스가 피검사체의 음향 임피던스와 능동소자(140)의 음향 임피던스의 곱의 제곱근을 만족해야 하는 것으로 알려져 있다(DeSilet 공식). 그런데, 단일 층 구조로서 DeSilet 공식을 만족하면서 동시에 작은 신호 감쇄 등과 같은 정합층(160)의 요건을 충족하는 적당한 소재가 없다. 따라서, 본 발명은 다수개의 층을 적층하는 정합층(160)을 사용한다.
정합층(160)은 2층 이상의 복수개의 층으로 적층된 구조이다. 복수개의 층으로 정합층(160)을 구성하는 이유는 능동소자(140)와 피검사체인 인체조직 사이의 음향 임피던스 차이가 상대적으로 크기 때문에 요구되는 특성을 정합층을 단일 물질의 층으로 형성하는 것이 어렵기 때문이다.
정합층(160)은 금속층(162), 제1층(164), 제3층(166) 및 제2층(168)을 포함한다.
본 발명의 정합층(160)은 4개의 층으로 구성하고 있지만 이에 한정하지 않으며 필요에 따라 정합층(160)을 구성하는 층 수를 한정되지 않는다.
금속층(162)은 능동소자(140)와 인접한 위치에 형성하고 제1층(164), 제2층(168), 제3층(166)보다 음향 임피던스의 크기가 가장 크다.
정합층(160)은 금속층(162)에서 제1층(164), 제3층(166), 제2층(168) 순으로 멀어질수록 음향 임피던스 값이 작아진다.
금속층(162)은 능동소자(140)에서 발생한 열 및 다중 반사에 의해 발생한 열을 분산시켜 발열시켜 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 표면, 즉 음향렌즈까지 열을 전달시키지 않는다.
음향렌즈(170)는 금속층(162)으로 인하여 온도가 내려가며 피검사체인 인체에 직접적으로 닿는 부분이므로 열 발생을 줄이는 것이 좋다.
일반적으로 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 표면 온도는 본체에서 송신되는 초음파 신호의 크기와 비례 관계에 있어 송신신호의 레벨을 낮추어야 한다. 그러나 본 발명에 의하면 송신신호의 레벨은 그대로 유지한 채 열을 분산시키는 금속층(162)에 의해 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 표면 온도를 낮출 수 있다.
열을 분산시키는 금속층(162) 구조에 의해 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 표면 온도가 낮추어짐은 이하의 도 10의 실험 결과를 통해 확인할 수 있다.
금속층(162)은 구리, 금, 은, 알루미늄 등의 금속물질, 산화 마그네슘, 산화 아연 등의 금속 화합물일 수 있으며 바람직하게는 열전도도나 내구성 측면에서 알루니늄을 사용하는 것이 좋다.
금속층(162)은 적어도 하나 이상의 금속 원료가 선택 또는 혼합되어 음향 임피던스 및 열 전도도가 조절될 수 있다. 금속층(162)은 열 도전체일 수 있다. 열 도전체는 구리, 알루미늄, 고분자 필름을 그래파이트화한 PGS 그래파이트 시트, 그래파이트, 카본나노 튜브, 질화 알루미늄, 붕소 나이트 라이드, 탄화규소, 산화 베릴륨 등이거나, 이들의 결합 형태일 수 있다.
제1층(ML1)(164)은 단일의 제1 물질로 구성되고 제2층(ML2)(168)은 단일의 제2 물질로 구성되며 제3층(Composite)(166)은 제1층(164)의 제1 물질과 제2층(168)의 제2 물질의 혼합된 형태로 다수의 물질이 섞여 있는 정합층을 형성한다.
이하에서는 단일 물질로 구성된 정합층(160)을 ML(Matching Layer)라 표기하고, 다수의 물질이 섞여 있는 정합층(160)을 복합체(Composite)라고 표기한다.
이때, 제1 물질과 제2 물질은 음향 임피던스가 서로 상이하다.
상위단에 있는 제2 물질보다 하위단에 있는 제1 물질이 음향 임피던스가 더 크다.
예를 들어, 하위단인 제1층(ML1)(164)은 상대적으로 큰 임피던스(예컨대, 약 6 내지 9Mrayls)를 갖는 물질로 구성되어 고 임피던스 정합층(High Impedance Matching Layer)이다. 상위단인 제2층(ML2)(168)은 상대적으로 작은 음향 임피던스(예컨대, 약 2 내지 3Mrayls)를 갖는 물질로 구성되어 저 임피던스 정합층(Low Impedance Matching Layer)이다.
제3층(Composite)(166)은 제1층(164)과 제2층(168)의 경계면에 복합체 구조로 형성된다.
제3층(166)은 제1층(164)의 제1 물질과 제2층(168)의 제2 물질을 결합하여 제1 물질과 제2 물질 간 음향 임피던스 차이를 줄인다. 즉, 제3층(166)에 의해 제1층(164)과 제2층(168) 간의 음향 임피던스의 변화폭이 줄어들게 된다.
제3층(166)은 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 교대로 톱니 형태로 배열된다. 제3층(166)은 톱니 형태에 한정하지 않으며 다면체, 원형, 뿔 형, 기둥 형 등 다양한 형태를 가질 수 있다.
금속층(162)은 정합층의 제1층의 일면에 증착되어 형성되고 일반적인 접착 등의 가공 방법 대신에 본 발명의 증착 방법을 사용하면, 연삭 및 절삭 등의 복잡한 과정을 거치지 않고도 금속층(162)의 두께를 정밀하고도 두껍게 제어할 수 있다.
다른 실시예로서 금속층(162)은 제1층(164)의 일면에 후막 증착하여 형성한다. 후막 증착의 경우, 박막 증착에 비해 금속층(162)의 두께를 두껍게 형성할 수 있다.
예를 들면, 박막 증착의 경우, 금속층(162)의 두께가 50 내지 200nm 정도라고 한다면 후막 증착의 경우, 금속층(162)의 두께가 약 300μm로 두껍게 증착이 가능하다.
후막 증착을 통한 금속층(162)의 두께가 두꺼운 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 금속층(162)의 두께가 얇은 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)에 비해 제작이 용이하다.
음향렌즈(170)는 정합층(160)의 상부면인 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 최외곽에 위치한다. 음향렌즈(170)를 통해 정합층(160)을 통과한 초음파를 피검사체에 접속시키거나 피검사체에 전달되는 초음파 신호를 집속시킨다. 음향렌즈(170)는 초음파가 손실 없이 또는 손실을 최소화하고 투과할 수 있도록 하며, 경계면에서의 반사/재반사에 따른 손실을 최소화하도록 구현된다.
이를 위해 음향렌즈(170)의 음향 임피던스(Zlens)가 인체 연부조직의 음향 임피던스와 같거나 유사할 수 있다.
도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 깊이(Depth)에 따른 음향 임피던스(Z) 그래프를 살펴보면, 층 간에 단계적이고 불연속적으로 음향 임피던스 변화폭이 변화한다.
음향 임피던스 크기(ZML2, ZCompsite, ZML1)는 제2층(168), 제3층(166), 제1층(164)으로 내려갈수록 단계적으로 증가하나, 선형의 연속적인 형태는 아니다.
음향 임피던스 변화폭은 제3층(166)을 구성하는 물질들의 성분과 그 배합에 따라 조절 가능하다. 제3층(166)은 음향 임피던스의 변화폭을 고려하여 제1 물질과 제2 물질 간의 간격, 제1 물질과 제2 물질의 너비 및 층의 두께가 조절된다.
금속층(162)은 능동소자(140)의 일면에 두꺼운 두께를 가지도록 후막 증착하여 형성한다.
또한, 다른 실시예로 금속층(162)은 정합층(160)을 구성하는 층 중에 음향 임피던스 크기가 가장 큰 층의 일면에 후막 증착하여 형성한다. 금속층(162)은 제1층(164), 제2층(168), 제3층(166)보다 더 두껍게 형성할 수 있다.
금속층(162)은 두께가 일정한 정도로 두꺼울수록 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 제조가 용이하며 열 분산 효율을 높일 수 있다.
도 3은 본 발명의 제2 실시예에 따른 음향특성 및 열특성을 향상시키는 초음파 트랜스듀서의 구성을 나타낸 단면도이고, 도 4는 본 발명의 제3 실시예에 따른 음향특성 및 열특성을 향상시키는 초음파 트랜스듀서의 구성을 나타낸 단면도이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 본 발명의 제2 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서는 후면층(110), 기판(120), 연성 인쇄회로기판(130), 능동소자(140), 금속층(162a), 접지 시트(150), 정합층(160) 및 음향렌즈(170)를 포함한다.
제2 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 전술한 제1 실시예의 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)와 비교하여 동일한 구성의 설명을 생략하고 차이점을 중심으로 설명한다.
능동소자(140)의 일면에는 능동소자(140)에서 발생하는 열을 분산시키는 금속층(162a)을 형성하고 정합층(160)은 다수개의 층을 적층하여 형성한다.
정합층(160)은 금속층(162a)과, 단일의 제1 물질로 구성되는 제1층(164)과, 단일의 제2 물질로 구성되는 제2층(168)과, 제1층(164)의 제1 물질과 제2층(168)의 제2 물질의 혼합된 형태로 다수의 물질이 섞여 있는 제3층(Composite)(166)을 포함한다.
능동소자(140)와 인접한 정합층(160)이 열전도도가 높은 금속층(162a)으로 구성되어 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)에서 발생하는 열을 분산시켜 발열시킨다.
도 4를 참조하면, 본 발명의 제3 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 후면층(110), 기판(120), 연성 인쇄회로기판(130), 능동소자(140), 접지 시트(150), 정합층(160) 및 음향렌즈(170)를 포함한다.
정합층(160)은 복수개의 층들로 구성하는데, 금속층(162b), 단일의 제1 물질로 구성된 제1층(164a)과, 제1 물질보다 임피던스 크기가 작은 단일의 제2 물질로 구성된 제2층(164)과 제1층(164a)과 제2층(164) 사이에 형성되고 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 결합된 제3층(166a)을 포함하며, 제2 물질보다 임피던스 크기가 작은 단일의 제3 물질로 구성된 제4층(168)과, 제2 물질과 제3 물질이 결합된 제5층(166)을 포함한다.
정합층(160)은 금속층(162b), 제1층(164a), 제3층(164), 2층(166a), 제4층(168), 제5층(166)이 순차적으로 적층되고, 상위층으로 갈수록 음향 임피던스 값이 작아지며, 층 간에 단계적이며 불연속적으로 음향 임피던스 폭이 변화한다.
도 5는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 초음파 진단 장치의 구성을 나타낸 도면이다.
본 발명의 실시예에 따른 초음파 진단 장치(10)는 초음파 트랜스듀서(100), 빔포밍부(20), 영상 처리부(30) 및 출력부(40)를 포함한다.
초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 다수의 소자(100-1,100-2,…,100-n)로 이루어질 수 있다. 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 적어도 4개층 구조의 정합층(160)을 포함하며, 정합층(160)은 능동소자(140)와 피검사체 간의 음향 임피던스를 정합하기 위한 N개의 물질(N≥2인 정수)을 이용하여 각각 서로 다른 음향 임피던스 크기를 가지는 2N개의 층을 구성한다.
예를 들어, 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 정합층(160)은 금속층(162)과, 제1 물질로 구성된 제1층(164)과, 제1 물질과는 다른 임피던스 값을 가지는 제2 물질로 구성된 제2층(168)과, 제1층(164)과 제2층(168) 사이에 형성되고 제1 물질과 제2 물질을 결합하여 제1층(164)과 제2층(168) 간 음향 임피던스 변화 폭을 줄이는 제3층(166)을 포함한다.
빔포밍부(20)는 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)를 구동하여 초음파 신호를 피검사체에 송신하고 피검사체로부터 되돌아오는 반사신호를 처리하여 빔 신호를 생성한다.
영상 처리부(30)는 빔포밍부(20)로부터 빔 신호를 수신하여 초음파 영상을 생성한다. 출력부(40)는 영상 처리부(30)를 통해 생성된 초음파 영상을 외부로 디스플레이한다.
도 6은 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서의 제조 방법을 나타낸 순서도이고, 도 7은 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서의 제조 방법을 나타낸 도면이다.
도 6 및 도 7을 참조하면, 제1 물질을 대상으로 연마 공정 등을 통해 소정의 두께를 갖는 시트(sheet) 형상의 ML1(200)을 생성한다(S100). 다이싱(dicing) 등의 정밀 가공을 통해 ML1(200)에 다수의 홈을 형성한다(S102).
이어서, 다수의 홈이 생성된 ML1(200)의 홈에 제2 물질을 부어 채워 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 결합한 복합체(Composite)(210)를 형성한다(S104). 그리고, 복합체(210)에 제2 물질을 더 적재하고, 연마 공정 등을 통해 그 두께를 조절하여 복합체 위에 제2 물질로 구성된 ML2(220)를 형성한다(S106).
ML1(200)의 일면에 능동소자(140)의 열을 분산시키기 위한 금속으로 이루어진 금속층(230)을 형성한다(S108). 금속층(230)은 정합층을 구성하는 적어도 하나의 층 중에서 음향 임피던스 크기가 가장 큰 층의 일면에 금속을 후막 증착한다.
다른 실시예의 금속층(230)은 복합체(210) 일면에 일정한 두께의 알루미늄을 접착할 수도 있다.
이에 따라 정합층은 금속층(230)과, 금속층(230) 위에 제1 물질로 구성된 ML1(200)과 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 결합한 복합체(210)와, 복합체(210) 위에 제2 물질로 구성된 ML2(220)가 형성된다.
일반적으로 중심 주파수가 높은 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 경우 정합층의 두께가 얇아지기 때문에 제작이 어렵다. 그러나 본 발명은 전술한 프로세스에 의해 그 두께가 전체적으로 두꺼워지므로 제작이 용이하다.
도 8 및 도 9는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 초음파 트랜스듀서의 성능 차이를 나타낸 그래프이다.
도 8은 중심 주파수 4MHz인 Phased Array에 DML(Double Matching Layer), TML(Triple Matching Layer), ACML(Aluminum Composite Matching Layer)을 각각 적용하였을 때 음향 특성을 계산한 결과이다.
DML은 정합층을 2개의 층으로 형성한 것이고, TML은 정합층을 3개의 층으로 형성한 것이며, ACML은 본 발명의 정합층으로서 알루미늄의 금속층과 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 교대로 톱니 형태로 배열된 복합체로 정합층을 형성한 것이다.
도 8 및 도 9를 참조하면, ACML의 경우 비대역폭이 가장 넓고, 능동소자(140)에서 발생한 초음파가 제1 물질과 제2 물질 사이의 경계면에 복합체 구조와 금속층을 통해 피검사체로 전달되는 경우 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 감도(Sensitivity) 및 대역폭(Bandwidth)이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있다.
도 9 및 [표 1]는 DML, TML, ACML의 주파수(Frequency)에 대한 정규 크기(Normalize Magnitude)를 비교한 그래프이다. 도 9에 도시된 바와 같이, 본 발명의 초음파 트랜스듀서의 경우 더 넓은 범위에서 정규 크기가 크게 나타남을 알 수 있다. 이에 따라 본 발명의 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)는 대역폭이 넓어지며 감도가 향상된다.

도 10은 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 정합층의 열 전도도 변화시에 시간에 따른 음향렌즈의 온도 변화를 나타낸 도면이다.
도 10은 DML, TML, ACML의 정합층을 가진 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)를 비교한 결과, 본 발명의 정합층인 ACML의 경우 온도가 가장 낮게 형성됨을 확인할 수 있다.
본 발명은 능동소자(140)와 인접한 정합층이 알루미늄의 금속층과 제1 물질과 제2 물질이 교대로 톱니 형태로 배열된 복합체로 형성되어 능동소자(140)에서 발생하는 열 및 다중 반사에 의해 발생한 열을 분산시켜 음향렌즈(170)까지 열을 전달하지 않는다. 이에 따라 초음파 트랜스듀서(100)의 표면 온도 즉 음향렌즈(170)의 온도가 내려간다.
이상 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 실시예를 설명하였지만, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자는 본 발명이 그 기술적 사상이나 필수적인 특징을 변경하지 않고서 다른 구체적인 형태로 실시될 수 있다는 것을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 이상에서 기술한 실시예들은 모든 면에서 예시적인 것이며 한정적이 아닌 것으로 이해해야만 한다.

Claims (9)

  1. 적어도 하나의 압전소자를 포함하는 능동소자; 및
    상기 능동소자의 상부에 형성되어 상기 능동소자와 피검사체 간의 음향 임피던스 차이를 정합하는 다층 구조의 정합층을 포함하고, 상기 정합층은 각각 서로 다른 음향 임피던스 크기를 가지는 다수개의 층으로 형성되며, 상기 능동소자에서 발생하는 열을 분산시키는 금속층을 더 포함하며,
    상기 금속층은 상기 능동소자의 일면에 금속을 형성하거나 상기 정합층을 구성하는 적어도 하나의 층 중에서 음향 임피던스 크기가 가장 큰 층의 일면에 금속을 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 정합층은,
    제1 임피던스 값을 가지는 제1 물질로 구성된 제1층;
    제2 임피던스 값을 가지는 제2 물질로 구성된 제2층; 및
    상기 제1층과 상기 제2층 사이에 형성되고 상기 제1 물질과 상기 제2 물질이 결합되어 상기 제1층 및 제2층의 음향 임피던스의 변화폭을 줄이는 제3층을 포함하며, 상기 금속층은 상기 제1층의 일면에 후막 증착되어 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  3. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 정합층은 상기 금속층, 상기 제1층, 상기 제3층, 상기 제2층의 순차적으로 적층되고, 상위층으로 갈수록 음향 임피던스 값이 작아지며, 층 간에 단계적이며 불연속적으로 음향 임피던스 폭이 변화하는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 제3층은 상기 제1층의 제1 물질과 상기 제2층의 제2 물질이 교대로 톱니 형태로 배열되는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 금속층의 두께는 상기 정합층을 구성하는 다른 각 층의 두께보다 두꺼운 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  6. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 금속층은 구리, 금, 은, 알루미늄의 금속물질, 금속 화합물, 적어도 하나 이상의 금속 원료가 선택 또는 혼합되어 음향 임피던스 및 열전도도가 조절되는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  7. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 제2층의 상부면에 적층되어 제3 임피던스 값을 가지는 제3 물질로 구성된 제4층;
    제4 임피던스 값을 가지는 제4 물질로 구성된 제5층; 및
    상기 제3층과 상기 제4층 사이에 형성되고 상기 제3 물질과 상기 제4 물질이 결합되어 상기 제4층 및 제5층의 음향 임피던스의 변화폭을 줄이는 제6층을 더 포함하며, 상기 금속층, 상기 제1층, 상기 제3층, 상기 제2층, 상기 제4층, 상기 제6층, 상기 제5층이 순차적으로 적층되고, 상위층으로 갈수록 음향 임피던스 값이 작아지며, 층 간에 단계적이며 불연속적으로 음향 임피던스 폭이 변화하는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  8. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 능동소자의 일면에 형성하는 연성 인쇄회로기판; 및
    상기 금속층과 상기 능동소자의 사이에 형성된 접지 시트를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
  9. 적어도 하나의 압전소자를 포함하는 능동소자;
    상기 능동소자의 일면에 형성되는 연성 인쇄회로기판;
    상기 능동소자의 타면에 형성되는 접지 시트;
    상기 접지 시트의 일면에 형성되는 상기 능동소자와 피검사체 간의 음향 임피던스 차이를 정합하는 다층 구조의 정합층을 포함하고, 상기 정합층은 상기 접지 시트의 상부면에 형성되어 상기 능동소자에서 발생하는 열을 분산시키는 금속층;
    상기 금속층의 일면에 형성되어 제1 임피던스 값을 가지는 제1 물질로 구성된 제1층;
    제2 임피던스 값을 가지는 제2 물질로 구성된 제2층; 및
    상기 제1층과 상기 제2층 사이에 형성되고 상기 제1 물질과 상기 제2 물질이 결합되어 상기 제1층 및 제2층의 음향 임피던스의 변화폭을 줄이는 제3층을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 초음파 트랜스듀서.
