Description

사용자 활동을 추정하는 장치 및 방법
본 명세서는 사용자 활동을 추정하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득된 모션 센서 데이터에 대한 특징을 추출하고 분류함으로써 사용자 활동을 추정하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.
최근 소형화 기술의 발전에 따라, 신체에 착용 가능한 다양한 형태의 웨어러블 장치가 나오고 있다. 또한, 이러한 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득한 사용자의 움직임에 대한 센싱 데이터에 기초하여 사용자가 소모한 칼로리, 이동 거리 등에 대한 정보를 사용자에게 제공하는 활동 트래커(activity tracker)들도 다양하게 나오고 있다.
그런데, 종래의 활동 트래커들은 사용자가 직접 자신이 수행 중인 활동을 입력한 경우에만 사용자의 활동에 대한 정보(소모 칼로리, 운동량, 이동 거리 등)들을 제공한다. 이 경우, 사용자는 각 활동을 수행할 때마다 해당 활동이 어떤 활동인지 장치에 매번 수동적으로 입력해야 하는 불편함을 갖는다.
이에, 본 명세서는, 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득된 모션 센서 데이터를 이용하여 사용자의 활동을 자동으로 추정하고, 추정된 사용자의 활동에 대한 정보를 제공하는 사용자 추정 장치 및 방법을 제공하고자 한다.
본 명세서의 일 실시예에 따른 사용자 활동 추정 장치는 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 미리 설정된 기간 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득하는 모션센서 데이터 획득부; 상기 모션센서 데이터를 하나 이상의 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는 분해 모션센서 데이터 생성부; 상기 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터의 각각에 대한 모션 특징을 추출하는 모션 특징 추출부; 미리 결정된 분류 알고리즘에 기초하여 상기 모션 특징들 각각을 분류하고, 분류 결과에 기초하여 상기 모션 특징들 각각에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 결정하는 모션 특징 분류부; 및 결정된 사용자 활동들에 기초하여 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하는 사용자 활동 추정부를 포함할 수 있다.
본 명세서의 일 실시예에 따른 사용자 활동 추정 방법은 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 미리 설정된 기간 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득하는 단계; 상기 모션센서 데이터를 하나 이상의 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는 단계; 상기 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터의 각각에 대한 모션 특징을 추출하는 단계; 미리 결정된 분류 알고리즘에 기초하여 상기 모션 특징들 각각을 분류하고, 분류 결과에 기초하여 상기 모션 특징들 각각에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 결정하는 단계; 및 결정된 사용자 활동들에 기초하여 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
본 명세서에 따르면, 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득된 모션 센서 데이터를 이용하여 사용자의 활동을 자동으로 추정함으로써 보다 편리한 활동 트래킹에 대한 사용자 경험을 사용자에게 제공할 수 있다.
또한, 획득된 모션 센서 데이터를 분해하고, 분해된 모션센서 데이터를 이용하여 사용자 활동을 추정함으로써 전체 모션센서 데이터를 이용하여 사용자 활동을 추정하는 방식과 비교하여 사용자 활동 추정의 정확도를 높일 수 있다.
또한, 획득된 모션센서 데이터를 둘 이상의 시간 간격으로 분해하고, 두 종류의 분해된 모션센서 데이터를 이용하여 사용자 활동을 추정함으로써, 사용자 활동 추정의 정확도를 더 높일 수 있다.
또한, 별도의 검증 방법을 이용하여 이미 추정된 사용자 활동을 다시 한번 더 검증함으로써 사용자 활동 추정의 정확도를 높일 수 있다.
또한, 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득된 모션 센서 데이터를 이용하여 추정된 사용자 활동에 대한 정보와 사용자로부터 직접 입력된 사용자 활동에 대한 정보를 함께 이용할 수도 있어, 사용자 활동 추정의 정확도를 높일 수 있다.

본 명세서에서, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)(이하 ”추정 장치(100)”라고도 함)는 사용자의 모션을 센싱한 센서 데이터를 이용하여 사용자의 모션에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 추정하는 장치를 말한다. 예를 들면, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 웨어러블 장치(10)에 장착된 모션 센서로부터 사용자의 모션을 센싱한 센싱 데이터를 획득하고, 이를 이용하여 사용자의 모션에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 추정하는 전자 장치를 말한다.
일 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 웨어러블 장치(10), 모바일 장치(20)(예컨대, 스마트 폰) 또는 임의의 다른 장치(예컨대, 서버, 개인용 컴퓨터) 내에 배치될 수 있다. 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)가 모바일 장치(20)에 배치된 경우, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 모바일 장치(20)를 통해 웨어러블 장치(10)와 유선/무선 통신을 수행할 수 있다. 이를 통해, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 웨어러블 장치(10)로부터 모션 센서 데이터를 획득할 수 있다.

모션센서 데이터 획득부(110)는 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 미리 설정된 기간 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득할 수 있다. 도 3의 310에 도시된 것처럼, 일 실시예에서, 모션센서 데이터 획득부(110)는 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 10분 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득할 수 있다. 일 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)가 모바일 장치에 배치된 경우, 모션센서 데이터 획득부(110)는 웨어러블 장치와의 유/무선 통신을 통해 모션센서 데이터에 대한 데이터를 수신함으로써 모션센서 데이터를 획득할 수 있다.

또한, 사용자 활동 추정부(150)는 추출된 모션 특징에 기초하여 추정된 최종 사용자 활동의 강도 및 모션 횟수를 더 결정할 수 있다. 여기서, 강도는 해당 활동의 강도 값으로서, 예를 들어, 해당 활동 시 소모되는 칼로리 값일 수 있다. 또한, 모션 횟수는 해당 활동에 대응하는 모션 행동의 횟수로서, 예를 들어, 걸음 수, 스윙 횟수, 줄넘기 횟수 등일 수 있다. 이를 통해, 장치는 추정된 사용자 활동의 종류만을 제공하는 것이 아니라, 추정된 사용자 활동의 강도 및 모션 횟수에 대한 정보를 함께 사용자에게 제공함으로써 보다 다양한 정보를 사용자에게 제공할 수 있다.
사용자 활동 검증부(160)는 미리 결정된 검증 알고리즘을 이용하여 추정된 최종 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다. 일 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 검증부(160)는, 분할부로 하여금 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하기 위한 제1 시간 간격(예컨대, 1분 간격)과 상이한(예컨대, 더 짧은) 제2 시간 간격(예컨대, 30초 간격)으로 모션 센서 데이터를 더 분할하게 하고, 이에 기초하여 상술한 방식과 동일한 방식으로 최종 사용자 활동을 더 추정함으로써, 이미 추정된 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다. 다른 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 검증부(160)는, 모션센서 데이터 획득부(110)로 하여금 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하기 위한 제1 모션 센서(예컨대, 가속도 센서)와 상이한 제2 모션 센서(예컨대, 자이로 센서)로부터 제2 모션센서 데이터를 획득하게 하고, 획득된 제2 모션센서 데이터에 기초하여 이미 추정된 최종 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다. 이러한 검증방식을 이용하여 이미 추정된 사용자 활동을 다시 한번 더 검증함으로써 사용자 활동 추정의 정확도를 높일 수 있다.

또한, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 상술한 방법을 각 모션 특징들 모두에 적용하여 각 모션 특징에 대한 사용자 활동을 결정할 수 있다. 또한, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 결정된 사용자 활동에 기초하여 최종 사용자 활동을 추정할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 모션 특징의 각각에 대한 사용자 활동들 중 등산 하기가 가장 많은 수의 사용자 활동인 경우, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 등산 하기를 최종 사용자 활동으로 추정할 수 있다.
또한, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 미리 결정된 검증 알고리즘을 이용하여 추정된 최종 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 GPS 센서를 이용하여 GPS 센서 데이터를 더 획득하고, 획득된 GPS 센서에 기초하여 사용자의 위치를 산출하고, 사용자의 위치가 산인지 여부를 판단하여 최종 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다.
도 5는 일 실시예에 따른, 본 장치를 이용한 사용자 활동 추정의 실험 결과를 나타내는 도면이다. 보다 상세하게, 도 5a는 피실험자가 6개의 활동(정지, 걷기, 달리기, 자전거 타기, 줄넘기, 탁구 치기)를 순차적으로 수행한 경우에 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득된 모션센서 데이터를 이용하여 상술한 방법에 따라 최종 사용자 활동을 추정한 실험 결과를 나타내는 도면이고, 도 5b는 피실험자가 4개의 활동(걷기, 뛰기, 자전거 타기, 줄넘기)를 순차적으로 수행한 경우에 웨어러블 장치로부터 획득된 모션센서 데이터를 이용하여 상술한 방법에 따라 사용자 활동을 추정한 실험 결과를 나타내는 도면이다. 이때, 도 5a의 피실험자와 도 5b의 피실험자는 다른 피실험자이다.
도 5a 및 5b를 참조하면, 1분 단위의 각 모션 특징으로부터 추정된 사용자 활동들 중 일부는 피실험자의 움직임의 단기적인 변화(예컨대, 자전거 타다가 잠시 멈추기)로 인하여 다른 사용자 활동으로 인식되는 경우가 생겼으나, 10분 동안의 각 모션 특징들을 조합함으로써 추정된 최종 사용자 활동은, 동일한 피실험자인지 여부 또는 피실험자가 수행한 활동의 종류에 관계없이 정확하게 추정됨을 알 수 있다.
도 6은 일 실시예에 따른, 사용자 활동 추정 방법의 순서도이다. 본 순서도에서는 도 1 내지 도 5의 설명과 중복되는 부분에 대한 설명은 생략하도록 한다.
도 6을 참조하면, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 미리 설정된 기간 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득할 수 있다(S10). 일 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)가 모바일 장치에 배치된 경우, 획득부는 웨어러블 장치와의 유/무선 통신을 통해 모션센서 데이터에 대한 데이터를 수신함으로써 모션센서 데이터를 획득할 수 있다.
사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 모션센서 데이터를 하나 이상의 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성할 수 있다(S20). 일 실시예에서, 생성부는 획득된 모션센서 데이터를 제1 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, n개의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성할 수 있다. 다른 실시예에서, 생성부는 획득된 모션센서 데이터를 제2 시간 간격으로 더 분해함으로써, m개의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 더 생성할 수 있다.
사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터의 각각에 대한 모션 특징을 추출할 수 있다(S30). 일 실시예에서, 추출부는 n개의 분해 모션센서 데이터의 각각에 대한 n개의 모션 특징을 추출할 수 있다. 다른 실시예에서, 추출부는 생성된 n+m개의 분해 모션센서 데이터의 각각에 대한 n+m개의 모션 특징을 추출할 수 있다. 이 경우, 각 모션 특징은 하나 이상의 특징(특징 값)을 포함할 수 있다. 이 경우, 각 모션 특징은 하나 이상의 특징(특징 값)을 포함할 수 있다. 이에 대하여는 표 1에 설명된 바 자세한 설명은 생략한다.
사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 미리 결정된 분류 알고리즘에 기초하여 모션 특징들 각각을 분류하고, 분류 결과에 기초하여 모션 특징들 각각에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 결정할 수 있다(S40). 일 실시예에서, 분류부는 추출된 n개의 모션 특징들을 각각 분류하여 대응하는 n개의 사용자 활동을 결정할 수 있다. 다른 실시예에서, 분류부는 추출된 n+m개의 모션 특징들을 각각 분류하여 대응하는 n+m개의 사용자 활동을 결정할 수 있다. 이에 대하여는 도 4a 내지 4c에 설명된 바 자세한 설명은 생략한다.
또한, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 모션 특징들의 각각의 특징 값이 스레시홀드 값 이상인지 여부를 더 판단할 수 있다. 이때, 분류부는 특징 값이 스레시홀드 값 이상인 모션 특징들에 대하여만 대응하는 사용자 활동을 결정하고, 특징 값이 스레시홀드 값 이상인 모션 특징들에 대하여는 사용자 활동을 결정하지 않을 수 있다.
사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 결정된 사용자 활동들에 기초하여 최종 사용자 활동을 추정할 수 있다(S50). 일 실시예에서, 추정부는 결정된 사용자 활동들 중 가장 많은 수를 갖는 사용자 활동을 식별하고, 식별된 사용자 활동을 최종 사용자 활동으로서 결정할 수 있다. 다른 실시예에서, 추정부는 식별된 사용자 활동의 수가 스레시홀드 이상인지 여부를 더 판단할 수 있다. 이때, 추정부는 식별된 사용자 활동의 수가 스레시홀드 이상인 경우에만, 식별된 사용자 활동을 최종 사용자 활동으로서 결정할 수 있다.
또한, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 추출된 모션 특징에 기초하여 추정된 최종 사용자 활동의 강도 및 모션 횟수를 더 결정할 수 있다. 여기서, 강도는 해당 활동의 강도 값으로서, 예를 들어, 해당 활동 시 소모되는 칼로리 값일 수 있다. 또한, 모션 횟수는 해당 활동에 대응하는 모션 행동의 횟수로서, 예를 들어, 걸음 수, 스윙 횟수, 줄넘기 횟수 등일 수 있다.
또한, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 사용자로부터 수행 중인 사용자 활동에 대한 정보를 입력 받을 수 있다. 이 경우, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 입력된 사용자 활동에 대한 정보 및 결정된 사용자 활동들에 대한 정보에 기초하여, 최종 사용자 활동을 추정할 수 있다.
도 7은 다른 실시예에 따른, 사용자 활동 추정 방법의 순서도이다. 본 순서도에서는 도 1 내지 도 6의 설명과 중복되는 부분에 대한 설명은 생략하도록 한다. 또한, S10 내지 S50에 대한 설명은 도 6의 설명과 동일하므로, 이하에서는 S70에 대하여만 설명하도록 한다.
도 7을 참조하면, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 미리 결정된 검증 알고리즘을 이용하여 최종 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다(S70). 일 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는, 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하기 위한 제1 시간 간격과 상이한 제2 시간 간격으로 모션 센서 데이터를 더 분할하고, 이에 기초하여 상술한 방식과 동일한 방식으로 최종 사용자 활동을 더 추정함으로써, 이미 추정된 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다. 다른 실시예에서, 사용자 활동 추정 장치(100)는 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하기 위한 제1 모션 센서와 상이한 제2 모션 센서로부터 제2 모션센서 데이터를 획득하고, 획득된 제2 모션센서 데이터에 기초하여 이미 추정된 최종 사용자 활동을 검증할 수 있다.
이와 같은, 사용자 활동 추정 방법은 애플리케이션으로 구현되거나 다양한 컴퓨터 구성요소를 통하여 수행될 수 있는 프로그램 명령어의 형태로 구현되어 컴퓨터 판독 가능한 기록 매체에 기록될 수 있다. 컴퓨터 판독 가능한 기록 매체는 프로그램 명령어, 데이터 파일, 데이터 구조 등을 단독으로 또는 조합하여 포함할 수 있다. 컴퓨터 판독 가능한 기록 매체에 기록되는 프로그램 명령어는 본 발명을 위하여 특별히 설계되고 구성된 것들이거니와 컴퓨터 소프트웨어 분야의 당업자에게 공지되어 사용 가능한 것일 수도 있다.
컴퓨터 판독 가능한 기록 매체의 예에는, 하드 디스크, 플로피 디스크 및 자기 테이프와 같은 자기 매체, CD-ROM, DVD와 같은 광기록 매체, 플롭티컬 디스크(floptical disk)와 같은 자기-광 매체(magneto-optical media), 및 ROM, RAM, 플래시 메모리 등과 같은 프로그램 명령어를 저장하고 수행하도록 특별히 구성된 하드웨어 장치가 포함된다. 프로그램 명령어의 예에는, 컴파일러에 의해 만들어지는 것과 같은 기계어 코드뿐만 아니라 인터프리터 등을 사용해서 컴퓨터에 의해서 실행될 수 있는 고급 언어 코드도 포함된다. 하드웨어 장치는 본 발명에 따른 처리를 수행하기 위해 하나 이상의 소프트웨어 모듈로서 작동하도록 구성될 수 있으며, 그 역도 마찬가지이다.
또한, 이상에서는 바람직한 실시예에 대하여 도시하고 설명하였지만, 본 명세서는 상술한 특정의 실시예에 한정되지 아니하며, 청구 범위에서 청구하는 요지를 벗어남이 없이 당해 명세서가 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에 의해 다양한 변형실시가 가능한 것은 물론이고, 이러한 변형 실시들은 본 명세서의 기술적 사상이나 전망으로부터 개별적으로 이해되어서는 안될 것이다.
또한, 본 명세서에서는 물건 발명과 방법 발명이 모두 설명되고 있으며, 필요에 따라 양 발명의 설명은 보충적으로 적용될 수 있다.

Claims (23)

  1. 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 미리 설정된 기간 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득하는 모션센서 데이터 획득부;
    상기 모션센서 데이터를 하나 이상의 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는 분해 모션센서 데이터 생성부;
    상기 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터의 각각에 대한 모션 특징을 추출하는 모션 특징 추출부;
    미리 결정된 분류 알고리즘에 기초하여 상기 모션 특징들 각각을 분류하고, 분류 결과에 기초하여 상기 모션 특징들 각각에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 결정하는 모션 특징 분류부; 및
    결정된 사용자 활동들에 기초하여 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하는 사용자 활동 추정부를 포함하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 분해 모션센서 데이터 생성부는,
    상기 모션센서 데이터를 제1 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, n개의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    상기 분해 모션센서 데이터 생성부는,
    상기 모션센서 데이터를 제2 시간 간격으로 더 분해함으로써, m개의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 더 생성하되, 상기 제2 시간 간격은 상기 제1 시간 간격과 상이한 시간 간격인, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 제2 시간 간격은 상기 제1 시간 간격 보다 더 긴 시간 간격인, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 활동 추정부는,
    상기 결정된 사용자 활동들 중 최대의 수를 갖는 사용자 활동을 식별하고, 상기 식별된 사용자 활동을 상기 최종 사용자 활동으로서 결정하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  6. 제 5 항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 활동 추정부는,
    상기 식별된 사용자 활동의 수가 스레시홀드 이상인지 여부를 더 판단하고, 상기 식별된 사용자 활동의 수가 스레시홀드 이상인 경우에만 상기 식별된 사용자 활동을 상기 최종 사용자 활동으로서 결정하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  7. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 모션 특징 분류부는,
    상기 모션 특징들의 특징 값이 스레시홀드 이상인지 여부를 판단하고, 상기 특징 값이 스레시홀드 이상인 경우에만 상기 모션 특징에 대응하는 사용자 활동을 결정하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  8. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 활동 추정부는,
    상기 추출된 모션 특징들에 기초하여 상기 추정된 최종 사용자 활동의 강도 및 모션 횟수를 더 추정하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.
  9. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    사용자로부터 수행 중인 사용자 활동에 대한 정보를 입력 받는 입력부를 더 포함하고,
    상기 사용자 활동 추정부는,
    상기 입력된 사용자 활동에 대한 정보 및 상기 결정된 사용자 활동들에 정보에 기초하여, 상기 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.

    미리 결정된 검증 알고리즘을 이용하여 상기 최종 사용자 활동을 검증하는 사용자 활동 검증부를 더 포함하는, 사용자 활동 추정 장치.

  13. 웨어러블 장치의 모션 센서로부터 미리 설정된 기간 동안의 모션센서 데이터를 획득하는 단계;

    결정된 사용자 활동들에 기초하여 최종 사용자 활동을 추정하는 단계를 포함하는, 사용자 활동 추정 방법.
  14. 제 13 항에 있어서,
    상기 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는 단계는,
    상기 모션센서 데이터를 제1 시간 간격으로 분해함으로써, n개의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는, 사용자 활동 추정 방법.
  15. 제 14 항에 있어서,
    상기 복수의 분해 모션센서 데이터를 생성하는 단계는,
