Abstract

The invention relates to a multifunctional piece of furniture comprising: a frame (1); and a soft rest element (2) supported by and/or housed in the frame (1) so that a user can rest in a seated or lying position. The invention also comprises: a tilting backrest (3) and tilting means (4) for selectively positioning the backrest (3) in at least two positions in relation to the frame (1). The backrest (3) includes: a chassis (5) rotatably connected to the frame (1); and at least one supporting element (6) connected to the chassis (5) so that a user (16) can rest at least one part of his/her body while seated or lying on the rest element (2). The incorporation of the backrest (3) and the tilting means (4) allows a user to use the multifunctional piece of furniture for multiple functions depending on whether the backrest (3) is in a stowed position or a deployed position.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL FURNITURE

D E S C R I P C I O N OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The present invention can be included in the field of furniture elements, specifically in the bed sector. In particular, the object of the invention relates to a multifunctional piece of furniture that allows a user to support the back while sitting on said piece of furniture.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Within the field of the aforementioned technique, there are various types of furniture, where each is indicated for certain utilities and, therefore, is subject to certain limitations. In particular, for example: the beds are intended to lie down, so they do not incorporate a backrest, which makes them uncomfortable to use as furniture for sitting; the chairs have a backrest but the seat is not long enough to lie down; non-folding or extensible sofas allow sitting and lying down, but are narrower than a bed; folding or extending sofas (also called "sofa beds") allow you to adopt enough width to sleep comfortably, but the mattress is worse than a bed, since it must be discontinuous, or too flexible. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention describes a multifunctional furniture comprising: a frame; and a resting body, fluffy, supported and / or housed in the frame, to allow the rest of a user, for example, lying or sitting on said resting body.

The multifunctional furniture is characterized in that it additionally comprises a folding backrest which in turn comprises a chassis and at least one support linked to the chassis, where the backrest chassis is rotatably linked with the multifunctional furniture frame, through means of despondency, to position the backrest with respect to the frame in at least two positions. The support allows a user to support various areas of his body, in particular, various areas of the spine. The multifunctional furniture of the invention is preferably designed to be a bed, where the resting body is embodied in a mattress. However, it can be any other piece of furniture that allows a user to rest on that piece of furniture, without loss of generality. In particular, as a more preferred alternative example, it is contemplated that the furniture is a footstool, where the resting body is materialized in the footstool seat.

By incorporating the backrest and the folding means, a user can use the multifunctional furniture according to multiple functions, depending on whether the backrest is in a folding position or in a deployment position, as will be explained below in the description of a preferred embodiment.

In particular, the multifunctional furniture of the present invention has, in addition to the basic functionalities, such as lying, or sitting without a backrest, a wide range of added functionalities, among which are:

- sitting or lying, leaning on the backrest;

- read, study, watch television, tie or untie the laces;

- sit down to use a desk or desk nearby;

- hold objects;

- read or watch TV in bed without disturbing the couple, etc.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

A description in greater detail of a preferred embodiment of the present invention is given below with the aid of Figures 1 to 8 above.

In the present description of a preferred example, a multifunctional furniture according to the present invention is represented, where the furniture is a bed, as it is the most preferred example of multifunctional furniture according to the present invention. Another example, less preferred and, therefore, not represented, is a footstool. The invention can be implemented, in general, in any type of furniture intended, or adaptable, to be used as a rest furniture. In the present example, there is therefore a multifunctional bed that allows a user (16) to sit on the bed while keeping his back supported.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the multifunctional bed of the invention comprises a frame (1), for example of a bed frame or couch, or of any other known type, as well as a resting body (2) which , in the example shown, is a mattress, housed in, or supported by, the frame (1). The bed additionally comprises a folding backrest (3) linked to the frame (1) rotatably, and a folding means (4), to position the backrest (3) with respect to the frame (1) in at least two positions. The backrest (3) comprises a chassis (5) rotatably linked to the bed frame (1) through the folding means (4). The backrest (3) additionally comprises at least one support element (6), linked to the chassis (5), which is preferably sufficiently fluffy to allow the user (16) to support certain areas of the column, such as the lumbar area, the dorsal area or cervical area. The support element (6) or the support elements (6) are preferably rotating with respect to the chassis (5), for the user's convenience (16).

When the bed frame (1) comprises stringers and crossbars (not shown), for example in the case of frames (1) intended to support a bed base, the backrest (3) is preferably connected to the stringers or to the crossbars.

The positions comprise a folding position (not shown) in which the backrest (3) is folded, so that it does not prevent the user (16) from using the bed to lie down. Preferably, in the folding position, the backrest (3) is folded out of the bed and, more preferably, oriented towards the floor. In this sense, the backrest (3) can be foldable, to occupy less space in the folding position.

The positions additionally comprise at least one deployment position, in which the backrest (3) is deployed, allowing a user (16) to support the back on the backrest (3) while sitting on the mattress (2), as shown in figures 1 and 2. In the deployment position, the backrest (3) can be oriented towards the inside of the bed (as shown in figure 1) or towards the outside of the bed, see figure 2. Also, the folding means (4) are preferably configured to define a plurality of user-selectable deployment positions (16), in which the backrest (3) is oriented at different angles with respect to the frame (1), allowing the user ( 16) adopt different inclinations, for greater comfort.

The backrest (3) is preferably mounted at one end of the frame (1) of the bed, either oriented in the longitudinal direction of the frame (1) or in the transverse direction (depending on the width), where in the latter case, the backrest ( 3) It can be mounted both at the feet and at the head of the bed. Figures 1 and 2 represent solutions in which the backrest (3) is mounted at the foot of the bed. As shown in Figure 3, the chassis (5) of the backrest (3) preferably adopts a configuration in a contributed manner, where the chassis (5) comprises: side bars (7) articulated with the frame (1) of the bed; and one or more crossbars (8) that communicate the side bars (7), and which can also serve as support for the support elements (6). The crossbars (8) can also be used for other uses additional, such as, for example, to hang clothes, when the backrest (3) is not being used as backrest (3).

According to an alternative embodiment, not shown, the chassis (5) can be configured in a P-shape, with a single side bar (7), where preferably the side bar (7) is rotatable according to a longitudinal direction of the own sidebar (7), allowing a freeing of space at will, which is useful, for example, when the multifunctional furniture is a bed, since it allows greater comfort to make the bed. Also, according to a variant, two backrests (3) can be arranged, each with its corresponding P-shaped chassis (5), facing each other on opposite sides of the multifunctional furniture, independently operable, from one another, to allow its use by different users, although they can also be connectable with each other if desired. The actuation of the folding means (4) can be manual or, if desired, can be electric. In the case of an electric drive, the folding means may comprise a control knob (not shown), either by cable or wireless, or if desired, a start / stop switch can be incorporated.

The bed preferably additionally incorporates a counterweight (9), see figures 1 and 2, associated with the frame (1), for example housed in the frame (1) and / or fixed to said frame (1), to avoid a overturning of the bed due to the weight supported by the chassis (5) of the backrest (3).

Likewise, it is shown in Figure 3 that the bed can incorporate at least one separator (22), preferably a plurality of separators (22) arranged along one of the sides of the frame (1), to keep the bed separate from from an adjoining wall. The arrangement of the separators (22) provides various advantageous effects, such as:

- determine a space between the bed and the wall to accommodate the bedding that hangs from the side ends of the bed;

- facilitate the arrangement of the bed with respect to the wall at a desired distance; Y

- prevent elements of the backrest (3) that can protrude from the floor of the bed from rub against the wall.

The chassis (5) of the backrest (3) can be used to additionally support certain accessories, as shown in Figures 4, 5 and 6. For example:

- armrests (10) linked in an articulated manner to the chassis (5), see figure 4. Preferably, the armrests (10) are articulated allowing the change of direction of use of the backrest (3);

- lighting means (11), such as lamps, see figure 4;

- suspension elements (12), such as hooks, hangers or the like, to suspend objects, such as baby carrycot (13) (33), see figure 5, bags with objects etc;

- a fan (14);

- boxes (15) for electrical or electronic connections, see figure 6, such as connection to mains (19), telephone connection (not shown), Internet connection (20), connection to a radio or television antenna (21) , Ethernet connection (not shown), etc., for example to be able to watch television on a small monitor (17) or to connect a computer. In the example shown in Figure 6, the box (15) has pins (18) for fixing to the corresponding bar (7);

- a mesh (24) for protection against mosquitoes (25); according to the example shown in figure 8, the bars (7) of the chassis (5) incorporate protruding rods (26), preferably of flexible material, on which a first end of the mesh (24) is mounted. Preferably, the mesh may be suspended at a second end opposite the first end, for example, hung from a wall or the like, such that by means of an alcayata (27). The installation of the mesh (24) allows the user (16) to avoid the inconvenience of mosquitoes (25).

Other accessories not mentioned can also be supported on the chassis (5), depending on the functionality that is desired to be provided to the multifunctional furniture of the invention.

Also, the multifunctional furniture, in particular, the bed, can incorporate a folding footrest (23), as shown in Figure 7. Preferably, the footrest (23) is retractable within the frame (1). A multitude of solutions known to those skilled in the art in the field of articulated joints are applicable to define the folding means (4) and their connection with the bed frame (1). In particular, by way of illustrative example, they are mentioned, although not shown in the figures: gears; interlocking mechanisms, for example ratchet type; threaded joints; springs; etc.

Similar considerations are applicable in the case of the joints, the chassis (5), the support elements (6) or the armrests (10), for example. Preferably, joints are selected that comprise a plurality of locking points, such as ratchet mechanisms (not shown), but other solutions available to the person skilled in the art are possible.

For any of the embodiments described herein, the support elements (6) are preferably connected to the chassis (5). Figure 9 shows an embodiment, which is compatible with at least any of the embodiments shown in Figures 1-5, in which the backrest (3) is retractable in sections. Specifically, Figure 9 illustrates a particular example in which the chassis (5) of the backrest (3) comprises at least two sections (28) telescopically movable to each other so that one of the sections (28) can be retracted from the other. By means of the aforementioned characteristic, a reduction in the volume occupied by the backrest (3) is obtained, whereby a greater amount of available space is obtained, which is especially useful in small rooms, while providing a visual aesthetic less invasive To improve space saving, when a pair of adjacent sections (28) comprise respective support elements (6), some of said support elements (6) can incorporate housings (34) or emptied, to at least partially accommodate the element of support (6) of the adjacent section (28).

On the other hand, Figure 10 illustrates a further embodiment, compatible with all the described embodiments, in which the backrest (3) comprises at least two separably connected portions (29, 30). Specifically, Figure 10 shows a particular embodiment, in which the backrest (3) comprises: a first portion (29), connected with the folding means (4), and a second portion (30) that is connected separably with the first portion (29), for example, by means of a clipping. Likewise, in Figure 11 an additional preferred embodiment example can be observed, also compatible with all the embodiments described above, insofar as they refer to a P-shaped backrest (3), that is, with a chassis ( 5) equipped with sidebar (7) only on one side. In the case referred to in Figure 11, in addition to, as established in more general embodiments, in which the folding means (4) are connected to the chassis (5) allowing a rotation of the chassis (5) with respect to a horizontal axis, the folding means (4) are movably connected along the frame (1) of the furniture, so that the backrest (3) can be arranged selectively on one or the other of two adjacent sides of the frame (1), for example, on the side or on the headboard / footboard, in the case of a bed.

Even more preferably, the frame (1) additionally comprises, in a corner (31), guides (36), the folding means (4) being movable on the guides (36). By way of illustrative example, the folding means (4) can incorporate releasable fasteners (37, 38) that allow cooperatively fixing the folding means (4) to the guides (36) in the desired positions.

Finally, an additional embodiment compatible with the embodiment shown in Figure 5 is described by means of figure 12, to facilitate, with great space reduction, that a baby (33) can sleep next to his parents' bed. Specifically, the embodiment shown in Figure 5, the carrycot (13) is suspended by cables (35), chains or the like, to allow it to rock. Additionally, it can be complemented, in accordance with that shown in Figure 12, with a support foot (32) that allows a supportive support (3) on the floor, for greater safety of the baby (33). The embodiment shown in Figure 12 is preferably more compatible with those in which the backrest (3) has a P-shape. For the particular example of Figure 12, it is particularly preferred that the support elements (6) are disassembled, although it is not essential, being possible to adapt the configuration and the horizontal rotation of the support elements (6) to provide sufficient space to rock the carrycot (13).

Claims
