Abstract

A method and apparatus for playing an improved roulette game is provided. The method includes providing a wagering game comprising wagering elements that include a first roulette wheel and ball, named as Target Wheel and Target Ball respectively, and a second roulette wheel and ball, named as Multiplier Wheel and Multiplier Ball respectively, and an associated bet layout (600) comprising discrete sections of wagering areas referred to as the Inside Bet (601 - 608), Outside Bet (611 - 619) and Combination Bet areas (621 - 624). The dealer determines whether a multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet (601 - 608) and Outside Bet areas (611 - 619) if the multiplier feature is triggered. Multiplier feature indicators are displayed if the multiplier feature is triggered. The dealer settles wagers according to a normal odds payout or a multiplier feature payout. Methods of playing the wagering game using different game apparatus, bet layouts (600) and multiplier features are provided.

Description

Improved roulette game
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for playing an improved roulette game.
BACKGROUND
The roulette game is a popular wagering game played around the world. The conventional roulette game consists of a wheel divided into equal sized sectors, typically referred to as pockets, each said pocket being assigned to a unique number and a colour red, black or green. Conventionally, the numbers range from 1 to 36, inclusive, augmented by a single or double zero. Roulette in Europe typically utilises a 0 designation for a single zero game whilst roulette in America typically utilises a 0 and a 00 designation for a double zero game.
A round of play commences when, after the players have placed their bets, the dealer spins the roulette wheel, and subsequently releases a ball into the spinning wheel. The pocket in which the ball comes to rest determines the outcome of the game. Wagering areas typically consist of a single number, a grouping of numbers, red or black, high or low and odd or even attribute. Players may place a wager on any or all of such wagering areas, each bet evaluated independently of other bets .
It is desirable to create new and novel features to the roulette game to enhance the interest of players.
In a conventional roulette game, players have a choice of betting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, or 18 predefined group of numbers. It is desirable to include more betting choices such as 9 and 11 predefined group of numbers in a roulette game.
Although the roulette game is easy to comprehend among casino games, the lack of ability to award larger payout can cause players to lose interest in the game. It is desirable to provide some form of enhancement to the payouts, such as a possibility of a larger payout through a multiplier feature in the game.
Another way of introducing a larger payout to the conventional roulette game is by means of adding another roulette wheel to the game. It is an object to include wagering areas for the outcome of two roulette wheels in a single game to enhance the excitement of play .
SUMMARY
In one aspect, the present invention is a method of playing an improved roulette game, said method including steps of:
providing a wagering game comprising wagering elements that include a first roulette wheel and ball, named as Target Wheel and Target Ball respectively, and a second roulette wheel and ball, named as Multiplier Wheel and Multiplier Ball respectively, and an associated bet layout comprising discrete sections of wagering areas referred to as the Inside Bet, Outside Bet and Combination Bet areas;
one or more players placing a wager on a possible wagering game outcomes;
the dealer spinning the two roulette wheels concurrently and subsequently releasing a ball into each of the rotating wheels;
determining the game outcome after the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball results are determined, when the balls come to rest in a pocket in their respective wheels;
determining whether a multiplier feature is triggered for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas or only particular wagers placed in the Inside Bet area based on the result of the Multiplier Ball;
determining the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas based on the results of the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball if the multiplier feature is triggered;
displaying multiplier feature indicators to indicate the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is triggered; the dealer settling wagers according to a normal odds payout for the wagers placed in the Combination Bet area; and
the dealer settling wagers according to a normal odds payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is not triggered or according to a multiplier feature payout for such wagers in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is triggered.
In another aspect, the present invention provides a gaming machine adapted to carry out the methods. - In another aspect, the present invention provides a software product to program a gaming system to carry out the methods.
The game apparatus comprises:
a first roulette wheel and ball, named as Target Wheel and Target Ball respectively;
a second roulette wheel and ball, named as Multiplier Wheel and Multiplier Ball respectively; multiplier feature indicators; and
a bet layout comprising discrete sections of wagering areas referred to as the Inside Bet, Outside Bet and Combination Bet areas. The present invention provides an improved roulette game which opens the possibility of providing a multiplier feature payout while retaining a fairly traditional feel to the roulette game.
The present method could be embodied in an electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, or video gaming device and any combination thereof.
Further objects of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows.

There are a number of possible embodiments of the game apparatus, bet layouts and multiplier features in the present invention. -

Referring to FIG. 6, the bet layout consists of:
(a) Inside Bet:
(i) "Single Number (0)" wagering area 601 whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing "0", and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(ii) "Single Number (between 1 to 36)" wagering areas, for example wagering area 602, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing the single number between 1 to 36, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iii) "Split (group of two numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to two adjoining numbers, either on the vertical or horizontal, for example wagering area 603 (Note: Wagering area 0-1 is preferably not allowed), whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of two numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iv) "Street (group of three numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to three numbers on a single horizontal line, for example wagering area 604, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of three numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered; '
(v) "Corner (group of four numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to four numbers in a square layout, for example wagering area 605, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of four numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vi) "Basket (0-1-2-3)" wagering area 606 corresponding to numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing "0, 1, 2 or 3" , and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vii) "Six Number (group of six numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to six numbers on two adjoining streets, for example wagering area 607, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of six numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered; and
(viii) "T" wagering area 608 whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing "T", and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered.
(b) Outside Bet:
(i) "1st 12" wagering area 611 corresponding to a whole number from 1 to 12, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "1st 12" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(ii) "2nd 12" wagering area 612 corresponding to a whole number from 13 to 24, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "2nd 12" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iii) "3rd 12" wagering area 613 corresponding to a whole number from 25 to 36, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "3rd 12" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iv) "1 to 18" wagering area 614 corresponding to a whole number from 1 to 18, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "1 to 18" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(v) "19 to 36" wagering area 615 corresponding to a whole number from 19 to 36, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "19 to 36" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vi) "PRIME" wagering area 616 corresponding to numbers 2, 3, 5,7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31 , wherein said numbers are underlined in FIG. 6, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "PRIME" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vii) "RED" wagering area 617 corresponding to numbers 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 20, 23, 24, 27, 28, 30, 31, 33, 36, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "RED" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(viii) "BLACK" wagering area 618 corresponding to numbers 3, 7, 12, 18, 21, 22, 26, 29, 35, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "BLACK" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered; and
(ix) "BLUE" wagering area 619 corresponding to numbers 2, 4, 10, 15, 17, 19, 25, 32, 34, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "BLUE" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered.
(c) Combination Bet:
(i) "T & M" wagering area 621 whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(ii) "T & PRIME" wagering area 622 whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(iii) "Both PRIME" wagering area 623 whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided; and
(iv) "55 to 72" wagering area 624 whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the total score of the Target Ball and the Multiplier Ball is 55 to 72, wherein said total score is the summation of both the numbers (where "T" and "M" would have zero values) depicted on the pockets where the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball rest upon, on the Target and Multiplier Wheels respectively, without any multiplier feature payout provided. The game is played in a manner described below.
Players make wagers on one or more wagering areas in the bet layout 600. A player may place a wager in the Inside Bet area, for example wagering areas 601 through 608, Outside
Bet area 611 through 619, and Combination Bet area 621 through 624.
After the wagers have been made, the dealer spins the Target Wheel and Multiplier Wheel, and subsequently releases the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball into each of the respective rotating wheels. Preferably the balls are released in a few seconds interval of each other.
Although there is no fixed order of spinning the balls, it is preferred that the Target Ball be spun first.
The dealer determines the game outcome after the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball results are determined, when the balls come to rest in a pocket in their respective wheels.
The dealer determines whether a multiplier feature is triggered for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas or only particular wagers placed in the Inside Bet area based on the result of the Multiplier Ball. (Note: Particular wagers placed in the Inside Bet area refer to the wagers placed in the Inside Bet area, excluding wagering area "T".) If the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green.M or Grey M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered on all wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas. However, if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a number 1 "Grey" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered only on the wagers placed in the Inside Bet area, excluding wagering area "T".
The dealer determines the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the E side Bet and Outside Bet areas based on the results of the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball if the multiplier feature is triggered. The multiplier feature payout comprises "Nx" and "-lx", whereby:
(i) multiplier feature payout "Nx" is the normal odds payout on a player's wager multiplied by a predetermined variable N, where N is a rational number of more than 1; and
(ii) multiplier feature payout "-lx." is a loss on a player's wager;
wherein the rules for the multiplier feature payout comprise:
(i) multiplier feature payout "Nx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(ii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on; and
(iii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
and wherein the rules for the normal odds payout comprise:
(i) normal odds payout occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Yellow or White" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on; and
(ii) normal odds payout occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Non-M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on.
The dealer displays multiplier feature indicators to indicate the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is triggered. The multiplier feature indicators comprise:
(i) "Green M NX" to indicate multiplier feature payout "Nx";
(ii) "Green M 3X" to indicate multiplier feature payout "Nx"; (iii) "Grey M LOSE" to indicate multiplier feature payout "-lx"; and
(iv) "Grey LOSE" to indicate multiplier feature payout "-lx".
For example, for manual table games, the dealer can place a multiplier feature indicator "Green M NX", "Green M 3X", "Grey M LOSE" or "Grey LOSE" on the table surface next to the wagering areas during the settlement of wagers, according to the outcome of the game. In another example, electronic tables can illuminate areas in a unique colour underneath the wagering areas with a multiplier feature triggered, to represent a multiplier feature payout. In a further example, for electronic gaming machines having a video display, a multiplier feature indicator "Green M NX", "Green M 3X", "Grey M LOSE" or "Grey LOSE" display text can be provided to indicate the multiplier feature payout at the wagering area where the wagers are placed.
Take an example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "Single Number (between 1 to 36)" 602 in the Inside Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a "3" pocket. The normal odds payout is 35 to 1 if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Yellow or White" pocket. However if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Nx" (3x) is 105 to 1. On the other hand, if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "-lx" is a loss on the player's wager, meaning the wager js collected.
Take another example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "1st 12" 611 in the
Outside Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a "10" pocket. The normal odds payout is 2 to 1 if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a Non-M pocket. However if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Nx" (2x) is 4 to 1. On the other hand, if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "-lx" is a loss on the player's wager, meaning the wager is collected.
Take a further example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "T & M" 621 in the Combination Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket and the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket, the normal odds payout is 600 to 1. No multiplier feature payout is provided for wagers placed in any of the Combination Bet area.
When the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket, all wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas are pushed, with the exception of wager placed on the wagering area "T", irrespective of the result of the Multiplier Ball. When the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket, a player who places a wager on the wagering area "T" is paid a normal odds payout of 35 to 1 if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a Non-M pocket. However if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Nx" (3x) is 105 to 1. On the other hand, if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "-lx" is a loss on the player's wager, meaning the wager is collected.
For a manual table game, all push bets are preferably forced to remain for a following game, but additional bets may be waged in any wagering areas for the following game.
Normal odds payout, multiplier feature payout, multiplier feature indicators are indicated in the pay table of FIG. 9.
FIG. 10 depicts a plan drawing of a bet layout 1000 according to another optional embodiment of the present invention with similar colouring of the numbers as FIG. 6, except there is no alphabet T. Underlined letter M denotes "Green M" in FIG. 10.

The game is played in a manner described below (Similar rules to the embodiment of the present invention described for FIGS. 6, 7 and 8).
Players make wagers on one or more wagering areas in the bet layout 1000. A player may place a wager in the Inside Bet area, for example wagering areas 1001 through 1007, Outside Bet area 1011 through 1019, and Combination Bet area 1021 through 1024.
After the wagers have been made, the dealer spins the Target Wheel and Multiplier Wheel, and subsequently releases the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball into each of the respective rotating wheels. Preferably the balls are released in a few seconds interval of each other. Although there is no fixed order of spinning the balls, it is preferred that the Target Ball be spun first.
The dealer determines the game outcome after the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball results are determined, when the balls come to rest in a pocket in their respective wheels.
The dealer determines whether a multiplier feature is triggered for the wagers placed in the
Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas based on the result of the Multiplier Ball;
If the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered on all wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas.
The dealer determines the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas based on the results of the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball if the multiplier feature is triggered. The multiplier feature payout comprises "Nx", "Ox" and "-lx", whereby:
(i) multiplier feature payout "Nx" is the normal odds payout on a player's wager multiplied by a predetermined variable N, where N is a rational number of more than l;
(ii) multiplier feature payout "Ox" is a push on a player's wager; and
(iii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" is a loss on a player's wager;
wherein the rules for the multiplier feature payout comprise:
(i) multiplier feature payout "Nx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(ii) multiplier feature payout "Ox" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a losing pocket excluding "0" corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on; and (iii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" " pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a "0" pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
and wherein the rule for the normal odds payout comprises:
(i) normal odds payout occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Non-M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on.
The dealer displays multiplier feature indicators to indicate the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is triggered. The multiplier feature indicators comprise:
(i) "M NX" to indicate multiplier feature payout "Nx";
(ii) "M 2X" to indicate multiplier feature payout "Nx";
(iii) "M PUSH" to indicate multiplier feature payout "Ox"; and
(iv) "M LOSE" to indicate multiplier feature payout "-lx".
For example, for manual table games, the dealer can place a multiplier feature indicator "M NX", "M 2X", "M PUSH" or "M LOSE" on the table surface next to the wagering areas during the settlement of wagers, according to the outcome of the game.
In a further example, for electronic gaming machines having a video display, a multiplier feature indicator "M NX", "M 2X", "M PUSH" or "M LOSE" display text can be provided to indicate the multiplier feature payout of the wagering area where the wagers are placed.
Take an example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "Single Number (between 1 to 36)" 1002 in the Inside Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a "3" pocket. The normal odds payout is 35 to 1 if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a Non-M pocket. However if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a M pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Nx" (2x) is 70 to 1.
Take another example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "1st 12" 1011 in the Outside Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a " 10" pocket. The normal odds payout is 2 to 1 if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a Non-M pocket. However if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a M pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Nx" (1.5x) is 3 to l.
In another example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "1st 12" 1011 in the Outside Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a "36" pocket. If the Multiplier Ball rests upon a M pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Ox" is a push on the player's wager. All push bets are preferably not forced to remain for a following game and wagers are returned to the players.
In another example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "1st 12" 1011 in the Outside Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon a "0" pocket. If the Multiplier Ball rests upon a M pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "-lx" is a loss on the player's wager, meaning the wager is collected.
Take a further example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "Both PRIME" 1021 in the Combination Bet area. Assume the Target Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket and the Multiplier Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket, the normal odds payout is 10 to 1. No multiplier feature payout is provided for wagers placed in any of the Combination Bet area.
Normal odds payout, multiplier feature payout, multiplier feature indicators are indicated in the pay table of FIG. 13.

(i) "Green NX" to indicate multiplier feature payout "Nx"; and

On the other hand, if the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey" pocket, the multiplier feature is triggered and the multiplier feature payout "Ox" is a push on the player's wager. All push bets are preferably not forced to remain for a following game and wagers are returned to the players. Take a further example, a player places a wager on the wagering area "55 to 72" 1424 in the Combination Bet area. Assume the total score of the Target Ball and the Multiplier Ball is 60, the normal odds payout is 7 to 1. No multiplier feature payout is provided for wagers placed in any of the Combination Bet area.
Normal odds payout, multiplier feature payout, multiplier feature indicators are indicated in the pay table of FIG. 17.
In the present invention, the two roulette wheels can be of different sizes as size is not an instrumental component in play. For instance, the Multiplier Wheel can be smaller than the Target Wheel.
The game apparatus, bet layout and multiplier feature of the invention are not so limited, and many different variations of the game apparatus, bet layout and multiplier feature
configurations are contemplated.
As alluded to above, the present game could be played on a mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, or video gaming device or any of the combination thereof. For example, one embodiment may include a conventional mechanical game apparatus and a live dealer.
Another embodiment may include an electronic table and a live dealer.
A further embodiment may include an electronic table without any dealer.
In another further embodiment, the game is a multiplayer unit with individual bet stations and a central video representation of the game.

Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A method of playing an improved roulette game, said method including steps of:
providing a wagering game comprising wagering elements that include a first roulette wheel and ball, named as Target Wheel and Target Ball respectively, and a second roulette wheel and ball, named as Multiplier Wheel and Multiplier Ball respectively, and an associated bet layout comprising discrete sections of wagering areas referred to as the Inside Bet, Outside Bet and Combination Bet areas;
one or more players placing a wager on a possible wagering game outcomes;
the dealer spinning the two roulette wheels concurrently and subsequently releasing a ball into each of the rotating wheels;
determining the game outcome after the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball results are determined, when the balls come to rest in a pocket in their respective wheels;
determining whether a multiplier feature is triggered for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas or only particular wagers placed in the Inside Bet area based on the result of the Multiplier Ball;
determining the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas based on the results of the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball if the multiplier feature is triggered;
displaying multiplier feature indicators to indicate the multiplier feature payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is triggered; the dealer settling wagers according to a normal odds payout for the wagers placed in the Combination Bet area; and
the dealer settling wagers according to a normal odds payout for the wagers placed in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is not triggered or according to a multiplier feature payout for such wagers in the Inside Bet and Outside Bet areas if the multiplier feature is triggered;
wherein said Inside Bet area comprises wagering areas wagering on the result of the Target Ball, whereby each wagering area has a predetermined normal odds payout, a predetermined multiplier feature payout and a predetermined chance of the multiplier feature being triggered;
wherein said Outside Bet area comprises wagering areas wagering on the result of the Target Ball, whereby each wagering area has ..a predetermined normal odds payout, a predetermined multiplier feature payout and a predetermined chance of the multiplier feature being triggered; wherein said Combination Bet area comprises wagering areas wagering on the result of a particular combination of the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball , whereby each wagering area has a predetermined normal odds payout; and
wherein said multiplier feature payout comprises "Nx", "Ox" and "-lx", whereby:
(i) multiplier feature payout "Nx" is the normal odds payout on a player's wager multiplied by a predetermined variable N, where N is a rational number of more than
(ii) multiplier feature payout "Ox" is a push on a player's wager; and
(iii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" is a loss on a player's wager.
2. The method of claim 1, comprising the following rules for the wagering areas of the Inside Bet:
(i) "Single Number (0)" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing "0", and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(ii) "Single Number (between 1 to 36)" wagering areas whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing the single number between 1 to 36, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iii) "Split (group of two numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to two adjoining numbers, either on the vertical or horizontal whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of two numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iv) "Street (group of three numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to three numbers on a single horizontal line whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of three numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(v) "Corner (group of four numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to four numbers in a square layout whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of four numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vi) "Basket (0-1-2-3)" wagering area corresponding to numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing "0, 1, 2 or 3" , and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vii) "Six Number (group of six numbers)" wagering areas corresponding to six numbers on two adjoining streets whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any of the group of six numbers, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered; and
(viii) "T" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing "T", and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
wherein when the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket, all wagers placed in the Inside Bet area are pushed, with the exception of wager placed on the wagering area "T", irrespective of the result of the Multiplier Ball.
3. The method of claim 1 , comprising the following rules for the wagering areas of the
Outside Bet:
(i) "1st 12" wagering area corresponding to a whole number from 1 to 12, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "1st 12" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(ii) "2nd 12" wagering area corresponding to a whole number from 13 to 24, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "2nd 12" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iii) "3rd 12" wagering area corresponding to a whole number from 25 to 36, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "3rd 12" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(iv) "1 to 18" wagering area corresponding to a whole number from 1 to 18, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "1 to 18" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(v) "19 to 36" wagering area corresponding to a whole number from 19 to 36, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "19 to 36" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vi) "PRIME" wagering area corresponding to numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31 , wherein said numbers are underlined in FIG. 6, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "PRIME" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(vii) "RED" wagering area corresponding to numbers 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 20, 23, 24, 27, 28, 30, 31, 33, 36, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "RED" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
(viii) "BLACK" wagering area corresponding to numbers 3, 7, 12, 18, 21, 22, 26, 29, 35, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "BLACK" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered; and
(ix) "BLUE" wagering area corresponding to numbers 2, 4, 10, 15, 17, 19, 25, 32, 34, whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket on the Target Wheel representing any "BLUE" number, and a multiplier feature payout occurs if the multiplier feature is triggered;
wherein when the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket, all wagers placed in the Outside Bet area are pushed, irrespective of the result of the Multiplier Ball.
4. The method of claim 1, comprising the following rules for the wagering areas of the
Combination Bet:
(i) "T & M" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(ii) "T & PRIME" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "T" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(iii) "Both PRIME" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided; (iv) "55 to 72" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the total score of the Target Ball and the Multiplier Ball is 55 to 72, wherein said total score is the summation of both the numbers depicted on the pockets where the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball rest upon, on the Target and Multiplier Wheels respectively, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(v) "M & 0" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "M" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "0" pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(vi) "0 to 16" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the total score of the Target Ball and the Multiplier Ball is 0 to 16, wherein said total score is the summation of both the numbers depicted on the pockets where the Target Ball and Multiplier Ball rest upon, on the Target and Multiplier Wheels respectively, without any multiplier feature payout provided;
(vii) "Both 0" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "0" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "0" pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided; and
(viii) "0 & PRIME" wagering area whereby a normal odds payout occurs when the Target Ball rests upon a "0" pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Multiplier Wheel or when the Target Ball rests upon any "PRIME" number pocket on the Target Wheel and the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "0" pocket on the Multiplier Wheel, without any multiplier feature payout provided.
5. The method of claim 1, comprising the following rules for the multiplier feature payout:
(i) multiplier feature payout "Nx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(ii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(iii) multiplier feature payout "-lx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on; (iv) multiplier feature payout "Nx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(v) multiplier feature payout "Ox" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a losing pocket excluding "0" corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(vi) multiplier feature payout "-lx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a "0" pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on;
(vii) multiplier feature payout "Nx" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Green" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on; and
(viii) multiplier feature payout "Ox" occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Grey" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on.
6. The method of claim 1, comprising the following rules for the normal odds payout:
(i) normal odds payout occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Yellow or White" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on; and
(ii) normal odds payout occurs when the Multiplier Ball rests upon a "Non-M" pocket and the Target Ball rests upon a winning pocket corresponding to a wagering area where a player had placed a wager on.
7. An apparatus for playing an improved roulette game, comprising:
a first roulette wheel and ball, named as Target Wheel and Target Ball respectively; a second roulette wheel and ballj named as Multiplier Wheel and Multiplier Ball respectively;
multiplier feature indicators; and
a bet layout comprising discrete sections of wagering areas referred to as the Inside Bet, Outside Bet and Combination Bet areas;
wherein the Target Wheel comprises a plurality of pockets disposed in a
circumferential manner, said pocket associated with a whole number from 1 to 36, including one number "0" and one alphabet "T", and said pocket associated with a colour red, black, blue, green or pink, and said number and alphabet associated with a colour yellow or white; wherein the Target Wheel comprises a plurality of pockets disposed in a
circumferential manner, said pocket associated with a whole number from 1 to 36, including two number "0", and said pocket associated with a colour red, black, blue or green, and said number associated with a colour yellow or white;
wherein the Multiplier Wheel comprises a plurality of pockets disposed in a circumferential manner, said pocket associated with a whole number from 1 to 36, including two alphabet "M", and said pocket associated with a colour green, grey, yellow or white, and said number and alphabet associated with a colour black;
wherein the Multiplier Wheel comprises a plurality of pockets disposed in a circumferential manner, said pocket associated with a whole number from 1 to 36, including one alphabet "M", and said pocket associated with a colour green, grey, yellow or white, and said number and alphabet associated with a colour black;
wherein the Multiplier Wheel comprises a plurality of pockets disposed in a circumferential manner, said pocket associated with a whole number from 1 to 36, including two number "0", and said pocket associated with a colour green, grey, yellow or white, and said number associated with a colour black; and
wherein the roulette game is carried out in accordance with any one of the preceding claims.
8. A gaming machine adapted to carry out the method of any one of claims 1 to 6.
9. A software product operatively adapted to program a gaming system to carry out the method of any one of claims 1 to 6.
