Definitions

  • the invention relates to medicine for use in the treatment of scoliosis and to sports - for recovery from impaired posture.
  • correction methods are known for scoliosis and impaired posture: 1) traction, 2) corrective corsets, 3) physiotherapy, 4) physiotherapy exercises (Multivolume guide to orthopedics and traumatology. / Edited by N.P. Novachenko, vol. 2 , 1968, p. 344-350. S.G. Yumashev. Traumatology and orthopedics, 1977, p. 425-426).
  • Traction is carried out by applying traction to affect the spine, but this effect is passive, does not affect all components of the curvature (rotation, rib hibus, height of the shoulders and shoulder blades), the effect of traction is limited by the time of the procedure, does not change the broken motor stereotype, except Moreover, traction weakens, blurs the spine.
  • corsets passively push the bone structures of the body towards correction and, as a rule, unload the spine.
  • the disadvantages of using corsets are that the patient is forced to stay in a position fixed by the corset for a long time (for years), tissue trophy suffers, and the effect is not stable, since a positive muscle tone is not formed in the corset, the motor stereotype is not improved, the ligamentous apparatus is not strengthened.
  • Physiotherapy improves the condition of tissues and muscles, but does not affect the motor stereotype.
  • physiotherapy exercises was chosen - a long occupation of certain physical exercises, the result of which is the strengthening of muscle corset, which improves posture and, according to unconfirmed reports, slows down the development of scoliosis.
  • Disadvantages it has a weak corrective effect due to insufficient consideration of the individual characteristics of the curvature of the spine and the complex interweaving of the muscles, spine, ribs, shoulder blades, and pelvis.
  • the load on the muscles is selected intuitively in the absence of visual feedback and without a quick assessment of effectiveness.
  • Curvature of the spine occurs and intensifies in the process of domestic physical activity, mainly dynamic, most of which occurs in everyday life and consists in walking and carrying loads, often small in mass, but acting for a long time every day.
  • Such household loads form an asymmetric muscle tone, negative motor habits that can cause curvature of the spine when combined with other factors.
  • a method for correcting scoliosis and postural disorders by applying compensating weights is as follows. Determine the desired location of the load on the body. To do this, attach the load alternately on the forearm, shoulder, lower leg, thigh, belt (fasten with a strap, elastic tape or velcro textile tape), or place it on the neck with a stoop and a flat back (in the form of a bead).
  • the subject performs a dynamic load (more often it is walking in place).
  • a dynamic load (more often it is walking in place).
  • the patient’s posture Observe the patient’s posture and select the location of the load at which, during the dynamic load, the maximum improvement in posture occurs, which is expressed in the correction of the spine, restoration of symmetry of the shoulder blades, shoulders, waist and pelvis.
  • a video recording of changes in the patient’s posture is performed while performing a dynamic load in each load position. Then compare the video and choose the one on which there is a maximum improvement in posture. Thus, determine the place for applying the load-compensator posture.
  • An examination of the patient’s posture is carried out once a month, with the normalization of posture, the use of a posture compensator is stopped.
  • Example. Patient D. 10 years old, diagnosis: right-sided thoracic left-sided lumbar scoliosis of 2 degrees. Clinically observed asymmetry of the location of the shoulder blades, waist, hibus (protrusion of the ribs) on the right in the chest and paravertebral muscle cushion on the left in the lumbar. On the x-ray revealed chest right-sided scoliosis with an angle of curvature of 12 degrees (according to Cobb), left-sided lumbar scoliosis with an angle of curvature of 8 degrees.
  • the optimal load weight was chosen - 0.5 kg with a patient weight of 37 kg.
  • the patient carried this posture-compensating load daily during her stay at home and strengthened the impact by performing physical exercise - “walking in place”, marching for 15 minutes once a day daily.
  • scoliosis decreased on the radiograph - up to 6 degrees in the chest and 3 degrees in the lumbar.
  • the bearing of the posture compensator was completed. After a repeated examination of the patient after 6 months, the correction of the posture externally and of the spine on the radiograph was preserved.
  • the method was used in 10 patients with scoliosis and in 22 patients with different types of posture disorders (scoliotic posture, stoop, flat back). In all cases, a positive corrective effect of the bearing of compensating weights on posture was noted.
  • the claimed method allows to achieve positive results in the correction of curvature of the spine and disorders of posture.
