  • the flap portions 1 142 of the flexible bag 1 100 are configurable in an open figuration corresponding to the open configuration of the sealing arrangement 1200, and a closed configuration corresponding to the close configuration of the sealing arrangement.
  • the flexible bag can be configured in an open configuration, and a deceased body can be placed within the flexible bag 1 100. Subsequent to this, the flexible bag can be configured in a closed configuration, with the sealing arrangement sealing the bag opening 1 100 to encapsulate the body.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 comprises a fitting nozzle 1310, which is preferably co-located with the extraction valve 1300 and the extraction passage 1600.
  • the fitting nozzle 1310 is configured for sealing engagement with a vacuum extraction device (not shown).
  • a filter arrangement 1320 is also preferably co-located with the extraction valve 1300 and the fitting nozzle 1310.
  • the filter arrangement 1320 is configured for filtering air being evacuated from the flexible bag 1 100 by the vacuum extraction device, and to this end, the filter arrangement 1320 is preferably configured for filtering microbes, such as bacteria and viruses, from the air as it is evacuated or extracted from the flexible bag 1 100. In other embodiments, it is envisaged that the filter arrangement 1320 may be configured for filtering particle small enough to prevent smells from escaping the flexible bag 1 100.
  • the vacuum extraction device can be of a wide variety of configurations and work on a wide variety of principles.
  • the vacuum extraction device could be a normal vacuum cleaner found in homes. This would ensure the increased availability of a suitable vacuum extraction device in the event of a disaster occurring.
  • the vacuum extraction device could be in the nature of a foot pump or hand pump, or be a purpose-built impeller arrangement. It is further envisaged that the vacuum extraction device could be powered electrically via an electrical motor, for example from a generator, a power outlet or stored electric power pack such as a battery, or by a prime mover such as an internal combustion engine. It is further envisaged that the vacuum extraction device could include its own filter arrangement having a configuration similar to the filter arrangement 1320 described herein.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 further comprises an antibacterial lining 1 120, preferably on the inside of the flexible bag.
  • the antibacterial lining 1 120 can be coated on an inner surface of the flexible bag 1 100, or can be an additional inner layer of the flexible bag.
  • the flexible bag 1 100 can be comprised of multiple layers of different materials.
  • outer layer of the flexible bag can be composed of woven polyethylene or another suitably strong material, while an inner layer can be a waterproof and/or airtight flexible plastic material, which can in addition have antiseptic or antibacterial properties.
  • the bag arrangement can comprise, or be configured for receiving a quantity of embalming agent (not shown), for the purposes of slowing or preventing rotting of the body.
  • an inlet (not shown) can be provided specifically for this purpose, or alternatively the embalming agent may be introduced into the bag 1 100 via the bag opening 1 1 10.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 further comprises a moisture absorbent layer located on the back layer 1 150 of the flexible bag 1 100.
  • the moisture absorbent layer is preferably composed of silica crystals and/or silica gel, although it is envisaged that it could be composed of any suitable material that is effective in absorbing excess moisture. It is unlikely that any such layer will be able to absorb all of the liquid in a human body, but it is anticipated that it may assist in restricting the onset of rotting for a longer time period.
  • the front layer 1 140 or at least a portion of it, for example a viewing window 1 190, will be composed of a transparent material. If a window portion is provided, it is envisaged that the window portion will be provided at or towards an end of the flexible bag that would allow identification of the body by viewing its face. It is envisaged that this feature will allow bodies to be identified without having to open the sealing arrangement, which could then necessitate the re-evacuation of air from the flexible bag 1 100.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 further comprises a covering flap 1400 configured for covering the front layer of the flexible bag.
  • the covering flap 1400 is for preserving the dignity of the bodies within the flexible bag 1 100, which may be visible through the front layer 1 140.
  • the covering flap 1400 is movable between a covering position in which the front layer 1 140 of the flexible bag 1 100 is substantially covered to prevent the contents of the flexible bag 1 100 being viewed, and a displaying position in which the front layer 1 140 of the flexible bag is clearly visible.
  • the covering flap 1400 is preferably composed of an opaque flexible material, such as woven polypropylene.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 includes engaging formations 1410 for engaging the covering flap to hold it in place in its covering position.
  • the engaging formations will comprise complementary hook formations and loop formations (not shown), such as those sold under the trade name Velcro®, wherein one selected from the hook formations and the loop formations will be attached to an internal face of the covering flap 1400, and the other one selected from the hook formations and the loop formations will be attached to either an outer face of the front layer 1 140, or an outer face of the back layer 1 150.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 is provided with slinging formations 1500, which are configured for facilitating the lifting of the bag.
  • the slinging formations comprise strong flexible loops 1510 that are arranged at regular intervals along the length of the flexible bag 1 100. It is envisaged that such loops 1510 will be composed of a strong, cheap material such as woven polyethylene plastic, and each loop 1510 will be dimensioned to receive a sturdy pole 5000 therethrough, to allow multiple carriers to lift a pole 5000 extending along the length of, and on either side of the bag arrangement 1000.
  • the slinging formations may be configured to allow for movement of bodies by, for example, truck mounted cranes, pulley systems, or the like. This is advantageous where the availability of able bodied persons for picking up and moving dead bodies is low in disaster areas.
  • the flexible bag 1 100 comprises a first flap arrangement 1 160 and a second flap arrangement 1 170 connected to each other.
  • the first flap arrangement 1 160 and the second flap arrangement 1 170 are movable between an open configuration as shown in figure 8, in which a body is able to be placed on one or more selected from the first flap arrangement and the second flap arrangement, and a closed configuration as shown in figure 7 in which the body is enclosed or encloseable, preferably in a sealed manner.
  • first flap arrangement 1 160 and the second flap arrangement 1 170 are configured so that when the first flap arrangement 1 160 and the second flap arrangement 1 170 are in their open configuration, each of them forms a shallow container suitable for holding bodily fluids to prevent the bodily fluids from running off of the bag arrangement 1000.
  • the first flap arrangement 1 160 is defined by a front layer 1 162 and a side face 1 164 of flexible material
  • the second flap arrangement 1 170 is defined by a back layer 1 172 and a side face 1 174 of flexible material.
  • the side faces 1 164, 1 174 form a container lip that prevents bodily fluids from running off the first flap arrangement and the second flap arrangement when they are in their open configuration.
  • the bag arrangement 1000 is substantially rectangular, with the side layers 1 164, 1 174 extending between the front layer 1 162 and the back layer 1 172 along at least three edges of the rectangular shape.
  • the front layer 1 162 and the back layer 1 172 are preferably attached to each other along at least one edge to allow for pivotally movement of the front layer 1 162 relative to the back layer 1 172.
  • first flap arrangement 1 160 and the second flap arrangement 1 170 are in their closed configuration, adjacent edges of the side faces 1 164 and 1 174 are sealable to each other by a sealing arrangement 1200, preferably in the form of a zipper arrangement 1210 as shown in figures 5 and 6 and as described above.
  • This particular configuration for the first flap arrangement 1 160 and the second flap arrangement 1 170 is advantageous in that it allows the zipper arrangement 1210 to be utilised such that it is only bent in a plane that is at right angles to a plane extending between the teeth or beading of the zipper arrangement. In this way, accidental opening of the sealing arrangement, or the exertion of forces on the sealing arrangement 1200 in undesirable directions that may result in the opening of the sealing arrangement is reduced.
  • the zipper arrangement 1210 is movable between an engaged configuration in which the first flap arrangement and second flap arrangement are movable to their open configuration, and a disengaged configuration in which the first flap arrangement 1 160 and the second flap arrangement 1 170 are sealed to each other.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un sac mortuaire étanche à l'air adapté pour contenir et stocker des corps qui ont été affectés par des maladies pathologiques graves, ou pour être utilisé dans des situations de catastrophe. Le sac mortuaire est étanche à l'air et permet d'éliminer l'air de l'intérieur du sac une fois ce dernier fermé hermétiquement. Le sac à mortuaire peut également être transporté par insertion de bras. Le sac mortuaire est conçu pour empêcher les fuites de fluides corporels lorsqu'un corps est placé sur le sac, avant la fermeture hermétique de ce dernier.
