Abstract

The invention relates to a method and system for influencing the sound emission of a heat pump (10) or of an air-conditioning system, a device component (16, 18) in the form of a fan (16) or a compressor (18) being operated in an external device (14), thereby emitting sound. For the self-adaptive noise control, a noise level of the ambient noise is measured in the region of the external device (14) by means of a measuring unit (20), an upper rotational speed limit of the device component (16, 18) is determined as a function of the noise level, and the rotational speed for the operation of the device component (16, 18) is limited by the rotational speed limit.
