Description
DESCRI PTI ON
MECHANI SM TO Fl X A DOOR TO AN OPEN POSI Tl ON
Technical Field of the I nvention
The invention subject to the application is related to a mechanism which fixes the flap type rear doors of armoured vehicles that transport personnel to an open position when the vehicle is on the move or in a fixed position, wherein said doors open to the personnel cabin.
Known State of the Art ( Prior Art) Armoured vehicles for personnel transportation are armoured combat vehicles that have been produced in order to transport the infantry to the front. Said vehicles have not been directly designed for front line combat but have been designed to protect the soldiers against shrapnel, and enemy snipers.
The rear doors of armoured personnel transport vehicles, have been designed as flap door type, for the personnel to easily climb in and out of the vehicle. However when the personnel transporting armoured vehicles are not parked on straight ground, the doors create difficulty for the personnel get in or out of the vehicle. I n some cases, the vehicle needs to move when the rear door of the armoured vehicle aimed for personnel transportation is at an open position. However such a case is not possible when the rear doors of the vehicle are not fixed when the vehicle is on the move.
Mechanisms that fix a door to an open position known in the state of the art are usually produced for commercial vehicles. The systems that fix a door to an open position that have been produced for commercial vehicles, cannot provide the desired fixing when the vehicle is at an inclined position or when the vehicle is on the move. The plastic and weak mechanisms that fix a door to an open position used in commercial vehicles (such as caravans etc) are not strong enough to fix and withhold the doors of armoured vehicles.
The mechanisms that fix a door to an open position used in the known state of the art are being produced differently for each vehicle. A single mechanism which fixes doors having different sizes and weights to an open position cannot be used and this creates a disadvantage for vehicle manufacturers.
A mechanism which fixes a door to an open position which can be applied to doors having different sizes and weights by means of its adjustment mechanism and which enables
to easily close the rear doors of the armoured vehicle intended for personnel transportation from the inside has been developed in order to eliminate the problems of fixing doors to an open position used in the known state of the art.
Brief description of the invention and its aims
The invention subject to the application is related to a mechanism which enables to fix to an open position, the flap type rear doors of armoured vehicles intended for personnel transportation that open into the personnel cabin; wherein the following has been aimed by developing the mechanism to fix a door to an open position ; · To ensure that the rear door is fixed to an open position when the vehicle is not moving,
• To ensure that the rear door is fixed to an open position when the vehicle is on inclined ground,
• To ensure that the rear door is fixed to an open position when the vehicle is on the move,
• To ensure that it can be applied to doors having different weight and sizes.
• To be able to adjust the retaining strength due to its mechanical design.

Detailed description of the I nvention
The invention is related to a mechanism which fixes the door of armoured vehicles intended for personnel transportation to an open position, wherein the mechanism basically comprises; two body parts ( 1 ) that are mounted via welding to the rear wall of the armoured vehicle,
a latch bearing (2) mounted by welding to the rear door of the vehicle, retaining pins (3) located inside the body parts (1 ) which enable the locking of the mechanism,
springs (4) that enable the forward and backward motion of retaining pins (3) adjustment screws (5) that adjust the insertion length of the retaining pins (3) into the latch bearing.
Two body parts ( 1 ) as shown in figure 2, are welded to the rear wall (6) of the armoured vehicle, produced from armour steel. The latch bearing (2) is mounted to the rear door (7) of the vehicle by means of welding.
A retainer pin (3) , spring (4) and adjustment screws (5) are located inside the body ( 1 ) . When the door is brought to an open position the latch bearing (2) located on the door, enters between the retainer pins (3) having spherical tips. The door is fixed to an open position after the retainer pins (3) are introduced into the latch bearing (2) .
The insertion lengths of the retainer pins (3) into the latch bearing (2) are adjusted by adjustment screws (5) . The adjustment screws (5) are tightened or loosened at the desired torque by means of a screwdriver thereby fixing the door having any kind of size or weight to an open position.
