Description

PORTABLE BIOGAS HOLDER-CUM-DI SPENSER
TECHNICAL FIELD:
This invention relates to a Biogas holder. In particular, to a flexible piston based portable biogas holder cum dispenser.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Biogas plants are known in the art. Usually almost all biogas plants produce 30% or more excess gas and such excess gas produced are lost or wasted. The present invention helps to address this problem by holding the excess gas and dispensing it with complete safety. The invention as disclosed is cheap and very useful in the context of rising LPG gas and other fuel prices.
There are different types of gas pressure systems in use based on the required system they utilize. The most commonly used systems are:
1. Liquefied pressure system as in the case of LPG and LNG. Liquefied gas systems require heavy machinery to fill while balloons are unsafe and prone to burst due to exceeding elasticity above the volume preset. One of the main disadvantages of using a Liquefied system is that there is volume-by-volume of gas that cannot be recovered, the matter being that atmospheric pressure stabilizes the ejection of the residual gas in the container. Further it is too costly to implement a system of this sort.
2. Balloon based system wherein the gas is squeezed by virtue of the inflation-deflation property of the balloon. Balloon systems are prone to burst since weight-by-volume inconsistency arises and are indeed expensive when it comes to commercial applications for e.g. balloon fabrics like polyamide is a costly material.
3. Solid Piston systems where the pressure is ebbed out with the help of adequate and suitable means of hard force viz., syringe, etc., Syringe systems do perform well, however the safety systems and pressure control techniques require being precision based. A problem inherent in solid piston type syringe system is that, even though near close ejection of gas is maintainable, wear and tear, volume, pressure and safety control systems are required to be in place to keep the whole equipment operable.
Chinese document CN103635078 to BERASI ARMANDO entitled "Plant for production of biogas" relates to a plant for the production of biogas which includes a bag-like casing adapted for containing sewage. These bags can also be used for temporary storage of biogas.
Chinese document CN203190019 to SHAN SHENGDAO et al. entitled "Methane storage bag" discuss about a methane storage bag connected to a biogas digester which is used to store excess biogas produced in the biogas digester. Chinese document CN203079964 to HUANGFU LI et al. entitled "Pressure relief protector for methane project" relates to a pressure relief protector for biogas system in which the relief protector comprises a biogas pipe, anaerobic digester and a gas storage cabinet. United States Patent Application US20040187957 to Scheeter et al. entitled "Portable system and method for transferring liquefied gas" relates to a portable system for transferring and storing liquefied gas from a source tank to a receiving tank. It includes four pull away connectors and hoses for communicating fluid connection from a source to a destination and also includes a pressure relief valve which is located at the top of the tank. All the above said prior art discuss about biogas production systems with pressure relief protection system but none of them discuss a flexible low pressure biogas dispensing system for holding and delivering gas at required pressure with predictable and economic output. In the case of very low pressure systems, there are possibilities that the gas may return back to the origin of production or may damage the whole system where return of already generated gas may make complications. A classic example is the formation of acidosis or methane permeation of anaerobic bacteria in the presence of excess methane in a biogas system.
Some variants of the above stated technologies are also available; however, they showcase similar disadvantages at varying degrees.
Accordingly, the present invention obviates the above disadvantages by providing a novel improved flexible piston based portable biogas holder-cum-dispensing system with perfect single way entrapment and method for procuring, holding and delivering gas at required pressure and output which is predictable. The present system is effective, durable, affordable, simple to operate, efficient, environmentally friendly, substantially reliable, extremely safe and arguably the most economic.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The object of the invention is to provide a portable biogas holder cum dispenser comprising of a waterproof box or pouch or any suitable main body frame having an air vent, inlet valve & outlet valve fitted with non-return valves, gas relief safety fuse valve port, a flexible polymer based gas bag which acts as a Holder-cum-Dispenser and operates like a flexible piston and a gas cock control system. The gas bag is placed between two height-preset baseboards which act as gas volume controllers. A preset weight is placed atop baseboard and the gas caught inside the gas bag builds up the pressure inside the bag placed between the two baseboards with weight and thus air is displaced from inside the main body. The outgoing gas passes out of the outlet fitted again with an outlet non-return valve so as to maintain perfect vacuum in the gas bag. Due to the synchronised gas flow in this invention, methane permeability in anaerobic bacteria can be substantially controlled. The safety valve system makes the bio gas holder substantially safe.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the gas inlet may further include filters installed therein. The filters may be configured to prevent impurities viz., water vapour, etc., from entering into the associated gas holder. In other form of the invention the bio gas holder assembly is submersible or placed within the bio gas digester. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS:
100 Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser of the present invention;
105 Fig. 2 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser with empty state of the gas bag;
Fig. 3 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser with the gas inside the main body up to the baseboard placed atop;
110
Fig. 4 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser with excess gas procured inside the flexible biogas bag pressing upon the baseboards leading to release of excess pressure through the pressure relief valve;
115 Fig. 5 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser with the flexible bio gas holder bag having returned to its normal pressure state or preset prescribed limits;
Fig. 6 shows the view of Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser with the flexible bag in its normal empty state upon dispensing the whole gas out of the gas holder bag.
120
Referring to the drawings, and in particular to Fig.1 the Portable Biogas Holder-cum- Dispenser 100 includes a strong waterproof tarpaulin box 1 which includes a flexible gas bag 2. The flexible biogas bag 2 is made of polypropylene sack containing an LLDPE cover inside of size 80 cms X 100 cms capable of withstanding gas pressure of approximately 2-to-
125 9 Pascal's per inch (psi) and operates like a flexible piston placed between the top baseboard 5 and bottom baseboard 6. Base boards are sandwiched between the biogas holder bag 2 and inside the tarpaulin box 1. A pre-set 5kg weight 4 is placed atop baseboard 5 to provide pressure on the biogas holder bag. The flexible biogas bag 2 is fitted with a four way main connector 3 preferably made of brass. One end of the four way main connector 3
130 is fitted to the flexible biogas bag 2 using a connector hose, the second end of the main connector is connected to the gas inlet pipe containing inlet non-return valve 8 on one side and inlet hose 7 on the other side of the one way inlet non-return valve so as to provide single way in- flow of gas 14 to the gas bag, third end of the four way connector 3 is connected to gas outlet hose with one way outlet non-return valve 10 on one side and an
135 outlet hose 9 on the other side of one way outlet non-return valve so as to provide single way outflow of gas 14 from flexible biogas bag 2. The fourth end of the main connector 3 is connected to a spring based pressure relief valve 1. The said spring based pressure relief valve 1 1 consists of a gas load end on one side and a spring release cap on the other side. The fourth end of the main connector 3 is fitted to the gas load end of the pressure relief
140 valve 1 1. The relief cap of the pressure relief valve 1 1 is tied to one end of a relief thread 12.
The other end of the relief thread 12 is tied to the bottom baseboard 6. The weather proof strong outer cover or tarpaulin box 1 is provided with an air vent 13 to release or breathe in air 15 within the box 1. 145 Fig.2 shows Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser 100 with empty state of the biogas holder bag 2. The preset weight 4 placed above the top baseboard 5 provide preset ejection pressure to the flexible bio gas bag to ebb out bio gas 14 through the outlet hose 9. The preset weight 4 acts as pressurizer and obeys gravity to enforce pressure upon the flexible biogas bag 2.
150
Fig.3 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser 100 with the gas 14 inside the bio gas holder bag 2 up to the baseboard 5 placed atop. The biogas from the biogas digester enters the flexible biogas bag 2 through gas inlet pipe containing one way inlet non-return valve 8 on one side and inlet hose 7 on the other side so as to provide single 155 way in- flow of gas 14 to the gas bag.
Fig.4 shows the view of Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser 100 with gas 14 procured inside the biogas holder bag 2 pressing upon the top base board 5. The relief thread 12 fitted to the bottom base board 6 on one end and pressure relief cap of the pressure relief 160 one way outlet valve 1 1 on the other end tightens and as a result the relief valve is activated and the excess gas 14 flows out through the relief cap of the pressure relief valve 1 1 . This helps the bag to return to its preset limits without exploding as a result of the excess gas pressure build up.
165 Fig.5 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser 100 with the flexible biogas holder bag 2 having returned to its normal pressure state or preset prescribed limits after excess gas is removed from the flexible bio gas bag as a result of the activation of the pressure relief valve 1 1 .
170 Fig.6 shows the view of the Portable Biogas Holder-cum-Dispenser 100 with empty biogas holder bag 2 after the entire gas has been dispensed via one way outlet valve 9. The base board 5 laden with 5 kg or preset weight 4 acts as volume control to the flexible bio gas bag 2.
175 Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, materials used and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the
180 appended claims are expressed. Furthermore, those of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the foregoing description is by way of example only, and is not intended to limit the invention.
