Abstract

A turbocharger for an internal combustion engine, comprising a turbine (3) adapted to be driven by an exhaust gas flow from the engine; a compressor (2) adapted to supply compressed air to the inlet of the engine, and a drive coupling (2A1, 2B1, 2C1, 2D1) for selectively rotationally coupling the turbine (3) to the compressor (2) and to enable them to rotate at different speeds.
