Abstract

The invention relates to a load recording device (1) comprising a face plate (2) for exposure to a load and an oppositely arranged base plate (4) with a series of planar, load sensing elements (3) arranged perpendicularly between the face plate (2) and the base plate (4). Each of the load sensing elements (3) includes at least one substantially rigid beam with a cam surface which is located against an inner surface of either the face or plate, A deformable web, which supports the rigid beam has a significally smaller bend resistance than the beam and is configured for plastic deformation. The load sensing elements (3) are supported in spaced apart relationship from each other connected by a tie rod (8). Two pins (5) along which the face plate (2) can slide connect it to the base plate (4). The invention extends to an explosives testing apparatus for use with the load recording device (1). The load recording device (I) and explosives testing apparatus provide a means to quantify and retain the information of loads to which the device has been exposed and to perform comparative tests on explosives used in industrial applications, particularly mining.
