It is to be appreciated that each of the embodiments is specifically described and that the present invention is not to be construed as being limited to any specific feature or element of any one of the embodiments. Neither is the present invention to be construed as being limited to any feature of a number of the embodiments or variations described in relation to the embodiments.
Referring to the Figures, there is shown a movable game target .10 for allowing a player to hit a ball and cause the ball to roll therefowaids. The movable game target 10 comprises a base .12 and a goal .14. The goal 1.4 includes two posts .16, The body .1.8 of the base .1.2 is advantageously provided in the form of a number of body-type portions 20. The body-type portions 20 are shaped to be mated together in a mating relationship that his held together by the shape of the body-type portions 20, to provide the base 12 with the goal ,14 emending: therefrom.
The body-type portions 20 are separable and are each provided to mate together to hold respective portions, i.e. lower portions 22 (hidden from view), of the posts ,16 in position and prevent the posts 16 being removed from the base 12.
The body-type portions ¾3 comprise precisely two body-type portions 20, namely a first body-type portion 24 and a second body-type portion 26\ The two body-type portions 20 are moulded from a material that provides the body-type portions 20 in an elastic-resilient form. This is shown in Figure 2 where a number of elastic bands have been wrapped around the base 1.2. As shown this cause the first body-type portion 26 to jump out of the second- body-type portion 24.
The resilient elastic nature allows for the ready assembly and removable of the first body- type portion 24 from the second body-type portion 26, In other words the resilient-elastic nature allows for bending of the body-type portions 20 into and out of the mating relationship. In addition the resilient elastic nature advantageously allows the first body- type portion to be bent and inserted into the goal opening 2,8 of the goal 14. The body-type portiom JQ are made from polyurethane.
Returning to Figure 1? the body-type portions 20 are each shaped to be mated together in a wedge shaped mating configuration 30 of an isosceles trapezoid cross-sectional form 35. Referring to Figure 2, the first body-type portion 24 provides a wedge shaped configuration 3| having four inclined sides 34.
Referring to Figure 3, the second body-type portion 26 provides a wedge shaped channel 36. Both the first body-type portion 24 and the wedged shaped channel 36 are of an isosceles trapezoid cross-sectional form 38 (front view). The isosceles trapezoid cross- sectional form 38 comprises abase 40 having two acute base angles 42, The base angles 42 are equal to provide the isosceles form . The form 38 narrows in an upwardly direction.
Notably the two body-type portions 20 are shaped to provide the base 12 in the form of a substantially symmetric pyramidal frustum 44 as shown in Figure 1. That is, a pyramid having its top removed in symmetric manner.
As shown in Figure 5, the sides 34 provide four bevelled sides 46. As shown the first body- type portion 24 is of an oblong form when viewed from above. The first body-type portion 24 comprises a first opposite pair 48 of bevelled sides providing ramp portions' 50.
The other opposite pair 56 of the bevelled sides 46 of the first body-type portion 24 are wedge shaped for mating with the wedge shaped channel 36 of the second body-type portion 26. As would be apparent, the relevant cross-sections are of an isosceles trapezoid form in two perpendicular planes with a frusto narrowing in the third dimension plane.
Referring to Figure 6, in the second body-type portion 24 the wedge Shaped channel 36 extends fully through the top portion 58 of the second body-type portion 26, from one side to the other. The second body -type porti on 26 includes a first opposite pair of sides 52 that provide matching ramp portions 54.
Returning to Figure 1, the base 12 provides two ramps 55.. either side of the goal opening 28. The ramp portions 50 and the ramp portions 54 provide smooth transition in each ramp .55. Players are accordingly able to direct balls over the two ramps 55 through the goal opening 28. The second body-type portion 26 is of a square form when viewed from above.
The two body-type portions 20 provide an upper platform 60 along which a ball is able to roll . Upwardly extending side portions 62. of the second body-type portion 26 provide abutments retaining the first body-type portion 24 in a retained condition within the channel 36. The side portions 62, provide angled extensions with an inner facing surface 64 for bearing against the first body-type portion 24 and an outwardly facing surface 66. An upper portion 68 is configured to lie substantially flush with the upper surface 70 of the first body- type portion 24. This allows balls to roll off the platform in various directions.
The first body-type portion 24 and the second body-type portion 26 provide the upper platform. 60. The lower portions of the posts 16 extend upwardly from the first body-type portion 24 within the confines of the side portions 62.
Referring to Figure 5, the two opposite sides 56 of the first body-type portion 24 each include an opening 72 cut through the respective side, for receiving a post 16 of the goal .14. The goal 14 comprises a planar element 74. This advantageously assists with flat packing of the movable game target .10, Each opening 72 is provided on the longer oblong side 56 of the first body-type portion 24, Each opening 72 is provided in the form of a slit 76 that is sized to receive the post.
The body-type portions 20 provide the base .12 as precisely two body-type portions 20 of resilient elastic form to allow bending of the body-type portions 20. This allows insertion of the first body-type portion 24 into the second body-type portion 26. The second body- type portion 26 provides the channel 36 for retaining the first body-type portion 24 in a retained condition.
Referring to Figure 7, the second body-type portion 26 provides an elongate recess 78 below the first body-type portion 24, for receiving and holding the goal 14 below the openings 72 in. the first body-type portion 24 through which the posts 16 of the goal 14 extend, The goal .14 is slotted into the recess .78. A number of holes 75 are provided in order to reduce weight.
Figure 8 illustrates the first portion 24 having been bent, and been inserted into the goal opening 28 to engage the posts .16 in the slits 76. A lower portion 80 of the goal ,14, is held in position beneath, the fi rst portion 24. When in position, the posts .16 of the goal 14 extend upwardly from the elongate recess 78 towards the first body-type portion 26 through the respective openings 72 therein.
Returning to Figure 7, the elongate recess 78 extends in the direction 82 between the openings 72 provided in the first body-type portion 24. The elongate recess .78 is of a depth extending substantially fully through the second body-type portion 26, The elongate recess 78 has a bow-type depth profile 84. In the arrangement, the bow-type depth profile 84. comprises a circular segment-type depth profile for receiving the goal 14. The goal 14 is of a circul ar shape having a circular opening 28;,
The first body-type portion 24. provides a connection 86 extending between the openings 72 of the first body-type portion 24. The connection 86 is resilient in terms, of the movement of the goal 14 in a direction perpendicular to the openings 72 (direction 85 in Figure 1 ) as would occur if the goal 14 was hit by a ball.
Such a torque on the goal 14 would cause resilient stretching of the connection 86, This occurs due to the lower portion 80 of the goal being held within the recess 78 and pivoting to act to open the openings 72 and resiiientlv stretch the connection 86. By the elastic form of the body-type portions 2.0, the goal 14 is resiiientlv biased towards an upright condition, Should a ball contact the goal 14, an advantageous degree of movement of the goal .14 is provided.
The connection 86 provides' an abutment 88 on its lower surface for bearing against and preventing removal of the goal 14, without the first and second body-type portions 20 having to be separated. The abutment provides a bow-type abutment surface 90 for bearing against the sides of the goal 14 from above. The first body-type portion 24 fits through the opening 28 in the goal 14 by bending the body of the first body-type portion 24, The openings 72 receive the posts 16 with the goal 14 extending upwardly away from the first body-type portion 24. In this embodiment the elongate recess 78 and openings 72 are provided as slits sized for receiving the posts 16 which are of a sheet-type form.
Advantageously the surface of the first body-type portion 24 and the surface of the second body-type portion 26 have a relatively frictional resistance which serves to ensure that the first body-type portion 26 is firmly held in the retained condition.
The game type target .10 i s configured for use in a game in volving pool tabl e balls or golf balls; the target being associated with 3 colours, the colours being able to be associated with the pool table balls. In this embodiment the colours are provided on the goal 1.4 as set comprising either "red, yellow, blue" or "orange, green, brown/purple". In the game there are provided six game type targets .1.0, three being associated with a first colour group and the other three being associated with, another colour group. Referring to Figure 10 there is shown a game 94 according to a further preferred embodiment of the present invention. The game 94 includes a number of movable goals 96 each having a stand portion 98 and a hoop portion .100. Each goal 96 is a member of either, but not both, a first colour group 102 and a second colour group .104. The game includes a spinner 105 for selecting a colour from the first and second colour groups. The spinner 105 includes a number of colour areas 1 15 . The game involves the use of coloured pool table balls or golf balls, The game include an area marker 106 and a tray 1.08, The spinner includes the six colour and a number of reset indicators 1 16.
The first colour group ,102 comprises three different colours (red/yellow/blue) and the second colour group comprises three different colours (orange/gr¾en/purpie), there being provided six different colours in total.
In the embodiment the game 94 can be played by pairs, teams or solo players. In one mode of pl ay the pl ayers spin the spinner for each turn and hit a coloured ball through the correctly coloured hoop and into a pocket on a pool table. In another mode of play, players hit any golf ball through the correctly coloured hoop and into an area marker 106 after a ball has successfully moved through a goal 96. The area marker .1.06 is termed 'the couch' for putting or mini-golf. The area marker 106 fits around the spinner for packing purposes as shown in Figure 1 1.
Notably the goals 96 provide targets in the form of hoops and bases. The targets, advantageously change the direction, speed and movement of the ball s, whi ch increase the skill required and adds excitement to the game. The use of the reset indicators and game- changing rules include elements of chance and make it more difficult for precisely controlled play. This is considered to advantageously 'level' the playing field for competitors, in terms of encouraging competition. Players are also encouraged to make up their own creative game play and rul es that can be shared online or otherwise,
In the first mode of play five coloured balls are placed on a pool table with one white cue ball. The five coloured bails are grouped in the 'couch' on the D section of the pool table. Prior to the 'break' to begin the game, the white ball is positioned between the eoueh and the table edge. This positions the white ball between the upper table edge and the D-section containing the couch. The D section is the D-shaped common marked section of a pool table. In the first mode, the hoops JJJ. (See Figure 12) are continuous and are pushed into slots into the lower bases (worts) and are then locked into position by covering them with the upper base portion (sock). An equal number of all six colours (three colours per hoop) is provided in the game. The game additionally includes a number of counters 120 (poks) and the tray 1 J>8 that is used for flat packing the components of the game. The tray 108 provides two compartments III. separated by a divider. The compartments become the scoring system for games, using either the 5 counters/poks supplied or balls from the game. PI avers can choose the number of hoops to play with, but 4 i s recommended for pool games. Targets/Hoops are positioned on the playing surface by the winner of a coin toss (player 1). If playing in pairs or teams, the opponent (player 2) then takes the first turn by spinning the spinner/revolver and looking at the main colour in the scope. This is the coloured hoop that player 2 aims for in. this shot. Player 2 'breaks,' then removes the couch from the playing surface. If successful in hitting a coloured ball through the correctly coloured hoop, the player has a second turn to hit any coloured ball on the table into a pocket. If successful s the player places a pok (or the ball) into their side of the scoring tray to receive their first point and play passes to their opponent.
If a player hits any coloured ball through the correctly coloured hoop and into a pocket in one shot, it is called a superwinner and besides placing a pok (or ball ) into their si de of the scoring tray, the player removes one pok (or ball) from their opponent's side of the scoring tray and places a ball back into play On the D section of the table. As play passes from one pi ayer to the other, each player spins the revolver to see which of the tri -coloured hoops to aim any coloured ball through. If a player spins the Y (reset button) on the revolver, they can reposition any hoop on the playing surface to their advantage, before taking their turn. If a player misses all the coloured balls in any turn, their opponent gets an extra try. If a player hits a ball off the playing surface, the ball is put back on the 0 section of the table and their opponent gets an extra try. If a player pockets the white ball, their opponent can place it anywhere on the pool table to their advantage, after spinning the revolver to have their turn, If a player hits a coloured ball into a pocket without first putting it through a hoop a pok (or ball) i s placed in the opponents' side of the tray and adds to their wins. The game wi nner is the player or team with the most poks (or balls) in their side of the scoring tray at the end of the game. in an alternate mode of play, there is provided a putting and mini golf game. The game is played inside or outside as a putting and mini-golf game with 5 golf balls. The golf balls are lined up on an agreed starting line, with the couch at the far end of the hoop widgets, to be used as an end-of-game col lector. Hoops are locked into place in bases by covering them with socks (the second body-type portion). Players can choose the number of hoops to play with, but all 6 is recommended for putting and mini-golf games. Hoop widgets are positioned on playing surface by the winner of a coin toss (player I) and play progresses as in pool games, with golf balls being deposited into the couch instead of the pool table pockets, Superwinners remove a pok (or golf bal l ) from thei r opponent' s side of the scoring tray and place a golf ball back on the starting line. If a player hits a ball out of the playing surface, the ball is put back on the starting line and their opponent gets an extra try. If a player hits a ball into the couch without first putting it through a hoop a pok (or ball) is placed in the opponents' side of the tray and adds to their wins. Natural ob staeles can also be added to an outdoor rnini-goif game, to add degrees of chance and difficulty. The game can be played outside with sticks or bats instead of golf clubs, using alternatives for golf balls such as rocks, tennis balls, gum nuts etc. All games can be played solo or in teams.
In the game there i s provided: 2 sets of fri-coloured hoops with varying-sized centre holes; 6 bases to stand them in; 6 socks to cover the bases and hold the hoops securely; 1 couch to start pool games and end putting golf games; 1 revolver to arm players with a colour for each turn; 5 poks to record players' scores, if not using balls for scoring; 1 di vided tray for scoring.
For each turn each play spins the revolver and looks to see the main colour identified by the revolver in the scope. This shows the colour hoop to aim for. To begin, a coin is tossed. The winning (Player 1) sets up the play, positioning the hoops (2,4,6) as Player 1 chooses on the relati ve playing surface. The other player (Player 2) takes the first turn and starts by spinning the revolver and looking to see the main colour in the scope. This is the colour hoop to aim for. Pl ayer 2 now has to hit any ball on the playing surface through the correctly coloured hoop. If missed, the play switches to Player 1 to take their turn. If a player spins R on the revolver at any time during the game, they can reposition one hoop of their choice anywhere on the playing surface before they take their turn, Winning balls are transferred to the player's or team's side of the game tray or substitute balls with poks, to keep score of their side's winners. The game winner is the player or team who ends the game with the most balls or poks in their section of the game tray. The revolver and the game tray are kept close at hand throughout the game.
Bases are moved out of the box; the socks are removed, hoops are inserted into the bases with the narrowest section downwards and the socks are put back in place through the hoops. The number used depends on the size of the playing area. Two or four hoops are used for the pool table, 4 or 6 hoops for putting golf. If needed more or less or more hoops are used, and the positioning of hoops can make the game as easy or as hard as selected.
There should be equal numbers of all six colours of hoops in play for each game. With the compartments of the container, each team can keep score by gathering their winning balls or counters. The basic set up is finished by removing the revolver from the couch.
The couch is used on the pool table D section for the setup, with any five coloured balls in it The white ball is placed between the couch and the table edge, ready for the first player to break the set to being. Toss a coin and start play. After the First hit-the break-the couch can be removed from the playing surface. When a player successfully hits any ball through the correctly coloured hoop in either direction it is a winner and they get an extra turn to piay right away. If, with this second shot, they get a ball into a pocket, the winning ball or a counter is transferred to that player's section of the tray. If a player successfully hits the ball through the correctly coloured hoop and into any pocket in one turn, it is called a super winner. The super winner then takes that ball (or counter/pok) and places it into their section of the tray. The superwinner then takes a ball from the opponents' section of the tray, if they have one, and places it back on the D (or if scoring with poks, one pok is removed and replaced with a ball, whi ch is then put back on the D ), If a player misses all the coloured balls in any turn, their opponent then gets 2 shots. If a player hits a ball off the playing Surface, the ball is put back on the D section on the pool table and their opponent gets an. extra turn. If a player pockets the white ball their opponent can place it anywhere on the pool table, after spinning the revolver to have their turn. If a player hits the ball into a pocket without first putting it through the hoop they were aiming for, the ball (or a pok) is placed in the opponent's side of the game tray and adds to their wins. In the golf game, the players agree on a starting line and line five balls up behind it, ready to play. The couch is set to the other end of the playing area (past the hoops) and toss a coin to start play as in pool. When a player successfully hits any ball through the correctly coloured hoop in either direction, it's a winner and they get an extra turn to play right away. If, with this second shot they get a ball into the couch, the winning ball is taken out of play. This ball, or a pole, is transferred to that players section of the game tray. If a player successfully hits the ball through the correctly coloured hoop and into the couch in one turn, it's called a superwinner. The superwinner then takes that ball (or pok) and places it into their section of the tray. The superwinner then takes a ball from the opponent's section of the tray if they have one, and places it back: on the starting line (or if scoring with poks, one pok is removed and replaced with a ball, which i s then put back on the starting line.) If a player hits a ball out of the agreed playing area, the ball is put back onto the start line and their opponent then gets 2 shots. If the player hits a ball into the couch, without first putting it through the hoop they were aiming for the ball (or pok) is placed in the opponent's side of the tray and adds to their wins.
Depending on the choice of game, the players supply :
(i) appropriate balls
