Abstract

Mechanical joint (1), for connecting a chain (C) with a hollow floating structure (S), also known as "sponson", in lifting a wreck (R) from sea bottom (F), said mechanical joint (1) comprising: a male element (2) comprising a pin (4) being directed according to a first predetermined direction (D') and a female element (3) directed according to a second predetermined direction (D") substantially corresponding with said first predetermined direction (D') when said female element (3) is coupled with said male element (2), said female element (3) comprising connecting means (12a, 12b) which are movable between an opening position and a closing position, such as to provide a connection between said male element (2) and said female element (3) such that, in said closing position, mutual separation between said male element (2) and said female element (3) by moving away from each other is prevented and mutual rotation between said male element (2) and said female element (3) about said second predetermined direction (D") is enabled.
