Description

INTRA ORAL APPARATUS FOR BRUXISM
This book is about oral apparatus (100) used during the night sleep to avoid bruxism symptoms caused by the grinding of the teeth, provoked by excessive intense and involuntary clenching of the jaws.
Well known status of the technique
Bruxism (grinding of the teeth) is the action, when the teeth are intensively and unconsciously clenched during the night sleep. This is the abnormal situation and causes quite irritating symptoms. The patients are mostly unaware of the situation.
Significant part of patients suffering with bruxism suffers, as result of pressure on teeth, by damages like breaks of teeth and restorations; other part complains about dysfunctions of temporomandibular joint, causeless headaches and muscle pains in the morning. What are the symptoms of bruxism?
The most apparent symptom is the pain. This is especially pain of the face muscles on the temporomandibular joint, headache and the pain in neck. Bruxism (grinding of the teeth) initiates the muscle pain. This pain is strongly connected to spasms in masticatory muscles. In situations, when the highly advanced grinding of the teeth occurs, is seen apparent abrasion/corrosion of teeth mastication surfaces? Some patients report, that they feel 'sandy' in their mouths in the morning they; this occurs due to abraded/corroded fine particles.
Enamels of continuously fritting teeth get damaged and height of the teeth diminishes. The patient's vertical size (the space between the nose and the gonium) can due to abrasion/corrosion of the teeth dinish and cause esthetical problems.
As the result of abrasion/corrosion of teeth enamels can occur teeth sensibility and later on the dental nerve can be seen. Micro trauma in dental roots can result in the cystic formations. The continuous pressure on teeth can cause breaks of teeth and restorations. During opening and closing the mouth could be heard some murmurs and noises. The teeth can break and swing. Traumatic aphtha's and oral cankers occurring due to biting are very irritant. Unceasing traumas can result in cancer of mouth and tongue.
Current Practices in Bruxism Treatment: Main practices used in bruxism treatment: a. Drug therapy/medication
Amitriptyline: Dosage is 10 mg per day. The drug is effective, but it has adverse effects and its usability in longer time is restricted.
Clonazepam: Dosage is mg per day, but this drug is addictive.
Buspiron: Dosage is 3-5mg, the drug is addictive controlled substance. b. Botox treatment
The Botox injection is applicate in 4-6 months. Additional therapy could be required. c. Oral apparatuses
1. Plate for night/Night plate: At night is attached on lower or upper teeth. It is produced in dental prosthesis laboratories.
2. Architect: This is apparatus, which is produced in USA, and it is similar to the plate described above.
3. Sleep right: This kind of plate is produced in USA and according to Archtek has different aspects.
4. NTI Tss Devices.
It is attached on front teeth. 5. Stress guard: It surrounds lower and upper incisors and canine teeth.
6. Comfort-Fit Dental Guard: It contains tampon and component surrounding the lower jaw.
7. Grind No More Dental Protection: It contains tampon and component surrounding the lower jaw.
These are oral apparatuses related to the invention. The technical problems seen on oral apparatuses are as below:
Night plate and architect:
It does not provide full physiologic mouth opening. Buccal and tongue bites can happen. Sleep right:.
The side parts can cause irritations on the buccal. NTI tss Devices:
The pressure is relocated to the incisor teeth, which are much weaker according to the molar teeth.

2a. The main frame of tampon 2b. The tampon connector 100: Apparatus
The explanation of invention:
The main frame of tampon (2a), which forms the vertical thickness, diminishes excessive mastication pressure. When it is bitten, it absorbs the biting power, in this way the temporomandibular joint does not get harmed and any pain does not occur. At the same time it protects the teeth from pressure and abrasion/corrosion.
Tampon (2) provides the physiological mouth opening. This way is prevented the biting of buccal, tongue (except the tip) and lips. Tampon (2) diminishes the consisted pressure and prevents significant part of the teeth and gums discomforts. The breaks of the teeth and crenation of the gums etc. is decreased.
Tampon (2), the tampon connector (2b), the tampon retaining component found on the main frame (1) and the major main component are connected. The tampon (2) can be regularly due to the component for tampon regulation by moving to and fro. In this way can be its length easily modified to small or big jaws. Besides this the tampon (2) diminishes or prevents also the daytime bruxism.
During the night sleep, many bruxism patients push their tongues forcibly and involuntary to the frontward. The tip of the tongue can be occasionally strongly pressed between the incisor teeth. The tongue pain, deformity and aphtha's could occur. To solve this problem, differently from other apparatuses, the tip of the tongue protecting component (1b) was added. There is also a component (1a), which holds this tongue protecting component and besides this stabilises it between the lower incisor teeth. The protector component (1b) found above the stabiliser component (1a) has a leaf form. Thus is the tip of the tongue protected from the injuries caused by the incisor teeth. The protector component (1b), which protects the tongue from the incisor teeth, takes along with the holder for application (1f) the incisor teeth in and secure the apparatus (100) in the mouth. The major main component with the lower incisor teeth enclosure component (1e) surround the teeth and the gums and form the skeleton of the apparatus (100). The tampon (2) provides, that the stabiliser component (1a), which holds the tongue protecting component and along with this component takes in the lower incisor teeth, functions in compatibility. Besides this the tampon is the element, which provides stability of the apparatus in the mouth.
Except the tampon (2) are all the components are designed in possible finest form, so that it does not irritate the mycoses and the gums.
Apparatus (100) is designed to prevent all symptoms of bruxism. (The abrasion/corrosion of the teeth, breaks of the teeth, loss of the teeth, problems of the gums, biting the tongue and the buccal, traumatic aphtha's in mouth, damages of temporomandibular joint; and after these secondarily occurring discomforts as headaches, cancer of the tongue and mouth etc. are diminished or prevented.)
The Industrial Implementation Form of this Invention
This above referred oral apparatus (100), which successfully brings solution to the technical problems, can be produced as the other apparatuses.
