Description

Title: A Retaining Device with Magnetic Clasp Technical Field:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a retaining device and more particularly, to a retaining device with magnetic clasp for keeping personal objects, such as hand held devices.
Background Art:
Typically, retaining devices have been used to hold hand held devices, for example, wireless data entry devices, wireless scanners, etc. The primary purpose of such retaining devices is to assist a user in efficient utilization of the hand held devices.
Holsters have been used typically in the past to hold portable data entry devices such as scanners. Clasps and buckles are also well known in the art. These articles generally function by affixing or joining two ends together by way of a fastener. The two ends may be two ends of the same device, such as a length of fabric or rope, or may be two ends of two different devices. Conventionally, the retaining devices consist of a retractable cord which enables teething of the hand held device to the user's belt hook or any other object. However, such devices facilitate limited movement of the hand held device i.e. limited to length of the retractable cord. There have been a lot of improvements suggested by existing prior arts over the conventional retaining devices. One of the most prominent developments was replacement of the retractable cord with the magnetic attaching means.
Though the improved prior art retaining devices employing magnetic attaching means allow easy access to the wireless devices and enable the wireless devices to be secured out of the way, when not in use. However, the said prior art retaining devices have following problems and shortcomings:
The aforesaid devices require substantial time and efforts to get hand held devices in and out. Further, the connection of the magnetic attaching means and the receptacle requires specific orientation; failure to do so the connector does not securely connects with the receptacle.
Accordingly, there remains a need in the prior art to have a retaining device which overcomes the aforesaid problems and shortcomings.
However, there remains a need in the art for an improved retaining device which efficiently retains the hand held devices, when not in use and allows swift de-coupling and coupling of the hand held devices before and after the use.
Disclosure of the invention
Embodiments of the present invention aim to overcome the above mentioned problems and shortcomings of the prior art retaining devices. A retaining device is disclosed which enables retention of the hand held devices irrespective of their type of surface i.e. metallic or non-metallic. Further, the disclosed retaining device allows swift coupling and decoupling of the hand held devices. In other words, the retaining device allows easy access to the hand held devices and allows the device to be secured out of the way when not in use. The proposed retaining device is easy to use and affordable.
The retaining device is able to closely satisfy the daily needs of using and carrying the hand held devices such as Bluetooth device, name tag, pen, sunglasses, pen-drive, wireless scanning devices, etc. efficiently and effortlessly.
Embodiments of the present invention are made possible in this way:
A retaining device comprises of a clip, a detachable magnetic clasp which is configured to be divided into two removable parts and a connector. One end of the detachable magnetic clasp is secured with the clip and other end of the detachable magnetic clasp is secured with the connector. Further, the connecter is configured to attach with plurality of hand held devices.
As compared to the existing retaining devices, the advantages of the present invention are:
The disclosed retaining device is made by assembling three specially designed parts i.e. the clip, the magnetic clasp and the connector. The specific arrangement of the magnetic clasp with the clip and the connector facilitates swift coupling and de-coupling of the hand held devices.
The removable parts of the magnetic clasp facilitate detachment of the connector attached to the hand held device effortlessly and reduce the time of coupling and de-coupling significantly.
The retaining device enables coupling and de-coupling of the hand held devices irrespective of the type of surface of the hand held device i.e. metallic or non-metallic. Further, it allows easy access to the hand held devices and allows the device to be secured out of the way when not in use.
For example:
A Bluetooth device user has to wear the same on the ear all the time even when it is not in use. However, by employing the retaining device, the user can easily remove the Bluetooth device from his ear when not in use and retain the same by virtue of the retaining device. In case, the user wish to use the Bluetooth device, he can swiftly de-couple the Bluetooth device from the removable part of the detachable magnetic clasp of retaining device.
While the present invention is described herein by way of example using embodiments and illustrative drawings, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments of drawing or drawings described, and are not intended to represent the scale of the various components. Further, some components that may form a part of the invention may not be illustrated in certain figures, for ease of illustration, and such omissions do not limit the embodiments outlined in any way. It should be understood that the drawings and detailed description thereto are not intended to limit the invention to the particular form disclosed, but on the contrary, the invention is to cover all modification/s, equivalent/s and alternative/s falling within the scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim. The headings used herein are for organizational purposes only and are not meant to be used to limit the scope of the description or the claim. As used throughout this description, the word "may" is used in a permissive sense (i.e. meaning having the potential to), rather than the mandatory sense (i.e. meaning must). Further, the words "a" or "an" mean "at least one" unless otherwise mentioned. Furthermore, the terminology and phraseology used herein is solely used for descriptive purposes and should not be construed as limiting in scope. Language such as "including", "comprising", "having", "containing" or "involving" and variations thereof, is intended to be broad and encompass the subject matter listed thereafter, equivalents, and additional subject matter not recited, and is not intended to exclude other additives, components, integers or steps. Likewise, the term "comprising" is considered synonymous with the terms "including" or "containing" for applicable legal purposes. Any discussion of documents, acts, materials, devices, articles and the like is included in the specification solely for the purpose of providing a context for the present invention. It is not suggested or represented that any or all of these matters form part of the prior art base or were common general knowledge in the field relevant to the present invention.
