Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Ultraschallsensors mit einem piezoelektrischen Wandlerelement, einem Treiberschaltkreis, einem Impulsgeber und einem Signal- verarbeitungsschaltkreis. Um Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art zur Verfügung zu stellen, das mit geringem Aufwand besonders schnell Messergebnisse liefert, wird der Impulsgeber derart von dem Treiberschaltkreis angesteuert, dass er das Wandlerelement mit einem elektrischen Impuls anregt, der in seinem zeitlichen Verlauf einer Heavisideschen Sprungfunktion entspricht, wobei die Sprungantwort von dem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis mit einer schnellen Fourier Transformation ausgewertet wird.
Description
VERFAHREN ZUM BETREIBEN EINES ULTRASCHALLSENSORS
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Ultraschallsensors mit einem piezoelektrischen Wandler¬ element, einem Treiberschaltkreis, einem Impulsgeber und einem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis .
Bei derartigen elektrisch-akustischen Wandlern, insbesondere bei piezoelektrischen Wandlern, die insbesondere Teil einer Sensorik sind, werden elektrische Signale in Ultraschallsignale umgewandelt, die in der Form von Echo-Signalen reflektiert und wieder in elektrische Signale zurückverwandelt werden. Solche Sensoren bzw. Wandler können beispielsweise zur Messung von Füllständen und/oder von Eigenschaften von Flüssigkeiten oder Gasen eingesetzt werden. Ein spezieller Anwendungsfall ist der Einsatz zur Messung der Viskosität von Flüssigkeiten, wie zum Beispiel Öl, in Kraftfahrzeugen.
Die Amplituden der erhaltenen Ultraschall-Echosignale sind dabei stark abhängig vom jeweiligen Medium, von der Koppelschicht zwischen dem Wandlerelement und dem Medium, von der Temperatur des Mediums etc. Insbesondere können durch äußere Einwirkungen, beispielsweise Luftblasen, Veränderungen der Zusammensetzung des Mediums etc., Echos von Ultraschallwandlern stark gedämpft oder verstärkt werden. Durch unterschiedlich hohe Amplituden des Echosignales ergeben sich entsprechende Probleme.
Solche Ultraschallwandler haben einen Ausgangsverstärker zum Verstärken der empfangenen Echo-Signale, damit diese in einem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis weiterverarbeitet werden kön¬ nen .
Nach dem Stand der Technik wird ein Wandlerelement des Ultra¬ schallwandlers vom Impulsgeber mit Sinusspannungen unter¬ schiedlicher Frequenzen angeregt. Dieses sogenannte Durch-
sweepen benötigt viel Zeit und sehr teure elektronische Bau¬ elemente zur Erzeugung des Frequenzspektrums der Sinunssignale . Durch eine Suche nach der Resonanzfrequenz mit Hilfe des Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreises kann dann zum Beispiel die Qualität der Flüssigkeit bestimmt werden. Jedoch benötigt eine Bestimmung der Ölqualität mit dem Verfahren nach dem Stand der Technik etwa 20 bis 30 sec. Darüber hinaus ist es nachteilig, dass mit dem Sweepen der Frequenzen Schwingungsenergie in das zu messende Medium (zum Beispiel Öl) eingebracht wird, die das Medium aufheizt und somit die Messergebnisse deutlich ver¬ fälscht .
Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art zur Verfügung zu stellen, das mit geringem Aufwand besonders schnell Messergebnisse liefert .
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch ein Verfahren mit den Merkmalen des unabhängigen Anspruchs gelöst.
Dadurch, dass der Impulsgeber derart von dem Treiberschaltkreis angesteuert wird, dass er das Wandlerelement mit einem elek¬ trischen Impuls anregt, der in seinem zeitlichen Verlauf einer Heavisideschen Sprungfunktion entspricht und die Sprungantwort von dem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis mit einer schnelle Fourier Transformation ausgewertet wird, kann auf die Anregung des Wandlerelements mit unterschiedlichen Sinusspannungen verzichtet werden. Der Vorgang des Durchsweepens entfallt und zum Beispiel die Messung der physikalischen Eigenschaften einer Flüssigkeit mit dem Ultraschallwandler, kann sehr schnell durchgeführt werde. Die Bestimmung der Ölqualität eines Motoren¬ öls im Verbrennungsmotor mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren benötigt nur etwa 5 msec zuzüglich der Rechenzeit für die schnelle Fourier Transformation, so dass nach etwa 20 msec Informationen über die Ölqualität vorliegen. Darüber hinaus wird keine nennenswerte Energie in das zu messende Medium eingebracht, so
dass es nicht zu einer Erwärmung des Mediums durch die Messung kommen kann.
Die Erfindung wird nachfolgend anhand eines Ausführungsbeispiels in Verbindung mit der Zeichnung im Einzelnen erläutert. Es zeigen :

Figur 1 zeigt schematisch den Aufbau eines Ultraschallsensors 9. Der Ultraschallsensor 9 besitzt einen Treiberschaltkreis 1, der bewirkt, dass ein zugehöriger Impulsgeber 2 ein Ultra- schall-Wandlerelement 4 über einen Eingangsverstärker 3 mit entsprechenden Anregeimpulsen beaufschlagt. Das Wandlerelement 4, das in der Regel als piezoelektonisches Wandlerelement ausgebildet ist, wandelt die elektrischen Impulse in Ultra¬ schallimpulse (Ultraschallwelle 12) um und beaufschlagt damit ein geeignetes Medium 11 (zum Beispiel Öl) . Entsprechende Echo-Impulse werden vom Wandlerelement 4 aufgefangen, in elektrische Impulse zurückverwandelt und einem Ausgangsver¬ stärker 5 zugeführt, von dem aus verstärkte Signale einem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis 6 zugeleitet werden. An den Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis 6 sind ein Speicher 7 und ein Monitor 8, der eine nachfolgende Fahrzeugelektronik beinhalten kann, angeschlossen.
Bei dem hier gezeigten Ausführungsbeispiel wird der Impulsgeber 2 so von dem Treiberschaltkreis 1 angesteuert, dass er das
Wandlerelement 4 mit einem elektrischen Impuls anregt, der in seinem zeitlichen Verlauf einer Heavisideschen Sprungfunktion 13
entspricht. Das Wandlerelement 4 nimmt die Antwort des mit dem Impuls beaufschlagten Mediums auf und leitet die Messergebnisse über den Ausgangsverstärker 5 an den Signalverarbeitungsschalt¬ kreis 6 . In dem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis 6 wird die Sprungantwort 14 mit einer schnellen Fourier Transformation ausgewertet. Damit steht in sehr kurzer Zeit eine Information über die zu untersuchenden physikalischen Eigenschaften des Mediums (zum Beispiel Motorenöl, Kühlwasser oder Urea Reduk¬ tionslösung) zur Verfügung.
Figur 2 zeigt einen Ultraschallsensor 9 , wie er zum Beispiel in Kraftfahrzeugen zum Messen des Motorölpegels und der Motoröl- qualität verwendet wird . Dabei ist der Pegel im Ultraschallsensor 9 und im Motor selbst identisch und der Messbereich des Ul- traschallsensors 9 liegt in der Regel zwischen einem minimalen und einem maximalen Wert . Figur 2 zeigt einen Ultraschallsensor 9 mit drei Kammern 24 , 26, 27 ohne Flüssigkeit . Der Querschnitt des Ultraschallsensors 9 ist rund und die einzelnen Kammern 24 , 26, 27 werden durch konzentrisch angeordnete Rohre gebildet . Das äußere Rohr ist mit einem Boden 23 und einem Deckel 22 abge¬ schlossen und bildet das Gehäuse des Sensors . Das mittlere Rohr erstreckt sich vom Boden 23 bis zum Deckel 22 und bildet die Messkammer 24. Die äußere Kammer, auch als Einlasskammer 27 bezeichnet , und die Messkammer 24 besitzen jeweils an ihrer Außenseite nahe dem Boden 23 eine Öffnung 2 8 zum Ein- und
Ausströmen des Motoröls . Die Einlasskammer 27 und die Messkammer 24 schließen eine weitere Kammer 2 6 ein, wobei die Außenseite der weiteren Kammer 2 6 durch die Innenseite der Einlasskammer 27 und die Innenseite der weiteren Kammer 2 6 , durch die Außenseite der Messkammer 24 gebildet wird . Innerhalb der Messkammer 24 ist ein Reflexionskörper 25 angebracht , das im Rahmen des erfindungs¬ gemäßen Verfahrens zur Reflexion der vom Wandlerelement 4 ausgesendeten Ultraschallwellen 12 benutzt werden kann . Zudem weisen die Kammern 24 , 2 6 , 27 Entlüftungsöffnungen 2 9 auf.
Figur 3 zeigt die Heavisidesche Sprungfunktion 13 , mit der das Wandlerelement 4 angeregt wird. Auf der Abszisse des Diagramms
ist die Zeit t in Millisekunden aufgetragen, wobei der Nullpunkt auf der rechten Seite des Koordinatensystems eingezeichnet ist und der zeitliche Verlauf der Heavisideschen Sprungfunktion 13 bis zu einem Zeitpunkt von 10 Millisekunden erkennbar ist. Vom Nullpunkt bis zu 5 Millisekunden befindet sich die Sprungfunktion bei etwa 0 V, wonach dann schlagartig bei 5 Millisekunden die Spannung von 0 auf 12 V erhöht wird, wonach diese Spannung für 5 Millisekunden gehalten wird und dann wieder auf 0 abfällt. Die Systemantwort 14 ist im 2. Teil des Diagramms dargestellt. Nachdem das piezoelektronische Wandlerelement 4 mit der
Heavisideschen Sprungfunktion 13 angeregt wurde und Schallwellen 12 in das Medium 11 ausgesendet hat, die nach kurzer Zeit durch Reflektion zurück zum Wandlerelement 4 reflektiert wurden, wird durch die reflektierte Ultraschallwelle im Wandlerelement eine Spannung indiziert, die als Systemantwort 14 aufgezeichnet wird. Diese Systemantwort 14 ist im 2. Graph des Koordinatensystems in Figur 3 zu erkennen.
Die Systemantwort, die auch als Sprungantwort 14 bezeichnet wird, kann mithilfe einer schnellen Fourier-Transformation analysiert werden, was in Figur 4 dargestellt ist. Die Systemantwort 14 enthält eine Vielzahl von Frequenzen, wobei eine deutliche Resonanz des Systems bei einer Frequenz von 10,5 kHz zu erkennen ist. Alle anderen Spitzen im Frequenzspektrum der Figur 4 entsprechen Oberwellen der Grundresonanzfrequenz des Systems. Anhand dieser Resonanzfrequenz des Systems kann auf die Qualität des untersuchenden Mediums zurückgeschlossen werden. Wenn der Ultraschallsensor als Qualitätssensor eingesetzt wird, kann z. B. auch die Beschaffenheit eines Motoröls in einem Verbren- nungsmotor während des Betriebes des Verbrennungsmotors ana¬ lysiert werden.
Claims
1. Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Ultraschallsensors (9) mit einem piezoelektrischen Wandlerelement (4), einem Trei¬ berschaltkreis (1), einem Impulsgeber (2) und einem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis (6), d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass der Impulsgeber (2) derart von dem Treiberschaltkreis (1) angesteuert wird, dass er das Wandlerelement (4) mit einem elektrischen Impuls anregt, der in seinem zeitlichen Verlauf einer
Heavisideschen Sprungfunktion (13) entspricht, wobei die Sprungantwort (14) von dem Signalverarbeitungsschaltkreis (6) mit einer schnellen Fourier Transformation ausgewertet wird .
2. Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Ultraschallsensors (9) nach Anspruch 1, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass der Ultraschallsensor (9) zur Bestimmung der Qualität eines Motorenöls geeignet ist.
