- TAU Tracking Area Updata
- Step 400 The UE initiates a TAU process.
- Step 401 The UE sends a Tracking Area Updata Request (old GUTI, additional GUTI, ) message to the eNB to initiate a TAU process, and carries the RRC parameter (the selected network, the Globally Unique MME Identifier, Abbreviation: GUMMEI ) ).
- RRC parameter the selected network, the Globally Unique MME Identifier, Abbreviation: GUMMEI
- the TAU process is triggered by load re-equalization, if the TIN of the UE indicates "GUTI” or "RAT-related TMSI-radio access type (RAT) temporary subscription user identity (Temporary) Mobile Subscriber Identity, TMSI), and the UE holds a valid GUTI, the old GUTI parameter indicates the valid GUTIo if the UE's TIN indicates "P-TMSI", and the UE holds a valid P-TMSI and associated routing area. Routing Area Identification (RAI), the old GUTI parameter is constructed by these two parameters. If the UE is in the connected mode reselected to E-UTRAN, the UE must set the TIN parameter to "P-TMSI".
- RAT RAT-related TMSI-radio access type
- the UE There is a valid GUTI parameter saved and the old GUTI parameter indicates the GUTI constructed by P-TMSI and RAI, and the additional GUTI (addition GUTI) parameter is set to this valid GUTI value. If the old GUTI parameter is indicated by P-TMSI and For the GUI constructed by the RAI, and the UE holds a valid P-TMSI signature, the P-TMSI signature must be included in the message.
- the additional GUTI parameter allows the new MME to look up the UE context stored thereon.

- the purpose of the MME delay authentication process is to update the registered PLMN-ID to the new PLMN-ID selected by the RAN in the handover process.
- the MME sets a new PLMN-ID in the GUTI parameter in the TAU accept message.
- Step 406 The new MME sends a context notification to the old MME/old S4-SGSN.
- ⁇ (this ⁇ is new if the MME changes) determines the S-GW relocation.
- S-GW relocation occurs when the old S-GW cannot continue to serve the UE. If a new S-GW is expected to serve the UE for a longer period of time, and/or a more optimized UE-to-P-GW path is used, or a new S-GW to be selected with the P-GW is selected, then It also determines the S-GW relocation. If ⁇ has changed, the new Context Acknowledge (S-GW change indication) message is sent to the old MME or the old S4-SGSN. The S-GW Change indication flag indicates that a new S-GW has been selected.
- the old MME or the old S4-SGN marks the gateway related information in the UE context as invalid. If the old node is the MME, the old MME also marks the HSS related information in the UE context as invalid.
- the purpose is that if the TAU process is not completed and a new TAU or RAU procedure falls back to the old MME or S4-SGSN, the old MME or S4-SGSN can update the gateway, and the old MME can update the HSS.
- the TAU request must be rejected and the new MME sends a reject indication to the old MME/S4-SGSN.
- the old MME/S4-SGSN continues to serve the UE.
- Step 407 The new MME sends a session establishment request message to the new S-GW.
- the new MME verifies the bearer context received from the old MME/S4-SGSN and the EPS bearer status received from the UE. If the MME has not changed, the MME performs verification according to the EPS bearer status received from the UE and its saved bearer context. The MME will release any network resources of the inactive EPS bearer in the UE. If there is no bearer context at all, the MME rejects the TAU request message.
- the MME selects a new S-GW, it will send a session establishment request message based on each PDN connection (IMSI, bearer contexts, MME address and TEID, Type, the protocol type over S5/S8, RAT type, Serving). Network)) to the selected S-GW.
- IMSI IMSI
- bearer contexts MME address and TEID, Type, the protocol type over S5/S8, RAT type, Serving). Network
- TFT Trafficfilter Template
- S5/S8 PMIP case (Trafficfilter Template, referred to as: TFT) (S5/S8 PMIP case) information.
- Type sends a Create Session Request to the S-GW indicator to the P-GW.
- the protocol type over S5/S8 indicates the protocol type on the S5/S8 interface selected by the S-GW.
- the RAT type indicates the type of wireless access. If the P-GW previously requested the UE location information, the MME also includes User Location Identification (ULI IE).
- UFI IE User Location Identification
- Step 408 The S-GW sends a Modify Bearer Request (S-GW address and TEID, RAT type, Serving Network) to the P-GW based on each Public Data Network (PDN) connection. ) to inform about the change information about the type of RAT used for charging. If the P-GW previously requested the reporting of user location information, the ULI IE is also included.
- S-GW address and TEID, RAT type, Serving Network a Modify Bearer Request
- PDN Public Data Network
- the RAT type information needs to be transmitted to the PCRF, and then the P-GW sends the RAT type information through the IP-CAN session modification process.
- PCC dynamic policy and charging control
- Step 409 The P-GW updates its bearer context and returns a Modify Bearer Response (Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number, Charging Id) message to the S-GW.
- Modify Bearer Response Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number, Charging Id
- Step 410 The new S-GW returns a create session response message to the new MME.
- the new S-GW updates its bearer context. This allows the new S-GW to route bearer PDUs from the eNB to the P-GW.
- the new S-GW returns a Create Session Response message to the new MME.
- Step 411 The new MME checks whether there is subscription data of the UE. If there is no subscription data, the new MME sends an update location request message to the HSS.
- the ULR-Flags indicates that the update location procedure is sent from the MME and the MME registration is updated in the HSS.
- the HSS does not delete any SGSN registrations.
- the MME capabilities indicate that the MME supports the area access restriction function. Homogeneous Support of IMSI over PS Sessions The "IMS Voice over PS Sessions" are supported in all TA areas of the MME's monthly service.
- Step 413 If the timer started in step 403 is not working, the old MME clears the mobility context. Otherwise, the UE context is cleared when the timer expires. This also ensures that the UE context that is still stored in the old MME is valid when the UE returns to the old MME to initiate another TAU before the ongoing TAU procedure is completed.
- the old MME responds with a Cancel Location Ack (IMSI) message.
- IMSI Cancel Location Ack
- Step 414 The old S4-SGSN receives a context acknowledgment (Context Acknowledge) message. If the UE is in the Iu Connected state, the old S4-SGSN sends an Iu release command after the 4th timer expires (Iu Release). Command) Message to the RNC.
- Context Acknowledge Context Acknowledge
- Step 415 The RNC responds to the Iu Release Complete message.
- Step 416 The Update Location Ack (IMSI, Subscription Data) message sent by the HSS to the new MME responds to the update location request message. If the update location request is rejected by the HSS, the MME rejects the TAU request from the UE and explains the reason.
- IMSI Update Location Ack
- Subscription Data Subscription Data
- the MME constructs the mobility management context of the UE.
- Step 417 If the MME changes, when the timer started in step 403 times out, the old MME/S4-SGSN releases any local MME or SGSN bearer resources, and if S- is received in the context response message (Context Acknowledge)
- the GW changes the indication information, and the old MME/S4-SGSN sends a Delete Session Request ( Cause ) message to the old S-GW to indicate deletion of the EPS bearer resource.
- the Cause value indicates that the old S-GW does not initiate the deletion process to the P-GW. If the ISE is activated, the Cause value indicates that the old S-GW sends a Delete Bearer Request message to another core network node to delete the bearer resources on the node. If the MME does not change and the new S-GW changes, step 410 triggers the release of the EPS bearing. Carrying resources.
- Step 418 The S-GW responds with a Delete Session Response (cause) message, and the S-GW discards any packet buffered by the UE.
- Step 419 If the area is restricted by the area or the access restriction, the UE is not allowed to access the TA area:
- the MME rejects the TAU Request message for a suitable reason.
- the MME responds to the UE with a message of the tracking area update accepting (NAS, MAC-Isert, IMS Voice over PS session) message.
- the TAU request message activates the flag setting
- the handover restriction list is sent to the eNB because the eNB handles the roaming restriction and access restriction in the Intm-E-UTRAN case, and the user plane establishment process is performed together with the TAU accept message.
- the EPS bearer status indicates the active bearer in the network. If the ISR is activated, it indicates that the P-TMSI and RAI flags are still valid for registration on the network. The ISR is activated during the TAU change of the MME and cannot be included. In the TAU process in which the MME does not change, if the ISR is in the active state when the MME receives the TAU request, the MME should include the ISR activated and maintain the ISR activation state in the TAU accept message.
- the UE When there is no ISR activated indication in the received TAU accept message, the UE sets the TIN to "GUTI'O. If the ISR activated indication is included, and the UE's TIN identifier indicates "GUTI", the value does not change. If the ISR is included The activation indication, the TIN identity of the UE indicates "P-TMSI” or “RAT-related TMSI”, and the UE must set the TIN to "RAT-related TMSI".
- the new MME does not activate the ISR to avoid the context transfer process between the two old core network nodes.
- Step 420 If the GUTI changes, the UE returns a Tracking Area Update Complete (TAU Complete) message to the MME for confirmation. If the activation flag is set in the TAU request message, the TAU procedure is not initiated in the ECM-CONNECTED state, and the MME releases the signaling connection with the UE.
- TAU Complete Tracking Area Update Complete
