Description

ASSEMBLY SHELVES
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to assembly furniture, and more particularly to assembly shelves of which the shape and/or dimension can be Changed by changing the assembling manner of shelf modules. Additionally, an assembly shelf according to the present invention can be combined with other structures such as prefabricated table and/or door structures, so that they are more useful and aesthetic.
BACKGROUND ART
The US Patent No. 4153311 relates to assembly furniture, including at least one connecting board for connecting at least two juxtaposed sectional units or columns of stacked section units, the connecting board having at opposite ends shelf portions capable of interlocking with side and rear wall sections of the respective units and a connecting portion interconnecting the two juxtaposed units or columns at a predetermined space form each other. This invention only creates shelves having rectangular drawers and the interlocking does not ensure a firm structure for shelves.
The KR Patent No. 1013383610000 relates to modular shelves assembled from many small and large modules. A modular shelf comprises connecting boards having some slots and connecting convex edges at lateral ends; and different corner members having connecting trenches whose lengths and widths fit with the connecting edges. The boards of small and large modules have same thickness and height. The disadvantage of these shelves is the small size of corner members, so it needs a high technique and better material to manufacture such parts and increase the cost price; additionally it also can make the linkage not stable and strong.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides assembly shelves with the consideration of the disadvantages of existing solutions as mentioned in the background art above.
An assembly shelf according to the present invention comprises:
(i) Boards T having, substantially, flat and rectangular shapes, each board T comprising a pair of edge T1 , each having a trench T3 along the length thereof, and a pair of edge T2;
(ii) Corner members G, each having convex edges G1 along its length and with the shape compatible with the one of trench T3 on the edge T1 of the board T, so that the trench T3 and convex edge G1 of the corner member G can be assembled to each other by a tenon joint, and corner members G used for different assembling positions having the different number of convex edges G1.
By using corner members G with different number of edges G1 for respective assembling positions, boards T can be assembled with each other in some different ways, i.e. flat combination or angle combination thereof in order assembly shelves with desired shape and dimension. Preferably, the length of a corner member G is equal to the one of an edge T1 of board T, thereby, durability of their linkage may be increased because of the increasing of area of distribution of force. More preferably, the trench T3 on a edge T1 of the board T and convex edge G1 of a corner member G have compatible trapezium cross sections, wherein the longer side of parallel sides of the trapezium cross section of the trench T3 is the inside one, thereby the strength of the linkage between trench T3 and convex edge G1 will be increased.
Al so preferably, each edge T2 of board T has an additional trench T4 along its length, which used for assembling with other structures such as prefabricated door structures or table structure, etc as further described herein below for adding utilities to the assembly shelves. It will be better if trench T4 also has trapezium cross section with the longer side of the parallel sides is inside one in order to increase the strength of linkage of respective parts when the structures are assembled to the assembling shelves in accordance with this invention.
In one aspect of the invention, a board T comprises:
(i) A rectangular frame Ta having pairs of edges T1 and T2 respectively; and
(ii) Two rectangular slabs Tb having dimensions corresponding to the one of the frame Ta, each tightly embodied on a side of the frame Ta to create a flat rectangular board T.
The flat rectangular board T created in such way is so light because of emptied structure. Preferably, the frame Ta comprises further a reinforcing bar Tc connecting opposite edges of the frame Ta in order to strengthen the board T.
In other aspect of invention, the board T comprises further one or more slots 15 perpendicular to edges 12, and equidistant from each other, and simultaneously, distances from each edge T1 to the first slot T5 at the same side are equal to each other and equal to the distance between two adjacent slots T5, and thereby, different boards T can interlock with each other via these slot T5. This embodiment can help to have more modes of connecting boards T with each other. According to this embodiment, a board T comprises:
(i) A frame Td with "U" shape and perpendicular corners, comprising pairs of edges T1 and 12; and
(ii) An additional board Te with rectangular shape containing an edge 12 and slot(s) T5, the additional board Te have appropriate dimension for fitting to the inside of the frame Td in order to create a rectangular board T with slots T5.
In addition, in order to strengthen the board T with slots T5, the board T comprises further two slabs Tg with corresponding dimensions and slots T5, fastened on the surfaces of the board T.
To increase utilities and aesthetic of assembly shelves according to this invention, an assembly shelf of the invention comprise further a prefabricated door structures C, each prefabricated door structure C comprises: (i) A frame C1 with a shape corresponding to the one of a room of the assembly shelf, each edge of frame C1 has a convex edge C2 along a part of its length, and all convex edges C2 of the frame C1 are arranged in the same side of the frame, the shape, dimension and position of this convex edge are made appropriately, so that each can fit with a tenon joints with a trench T4 on the edges T2 of the board T in order to create a tenon joint, thereby a frame C1 can be assembled with the respective room of an assembly shelf;
(ii) A door wing C3 which may be designed in form of one or more door wings having appropriate shape and mounted to one side of the door frame C1 , so that the respective room of the assembly shelf can be closed or opened by operating the door wings.
Additionally, in order to add more utilities to the assembly shelves according to this present invention, an assembly shelf comprises further prefabricated table structures B, each prefabricated table structure B comprises:
(i) A table plate B1 having at least a strait part on one its side, on which a convex edge B2 is arranged, the edge B2 is shaped and dimensioned appropriately so that the edge B2 can fit with a trench T4 on an edge T2 of a board T in order to create a tenon joint; and
(ii) Legs B3 connecting appropriately to the plate B1 in order to support the plate B1 at horizontal position when the convex edge B2 is fitted to the trench T4 of the board T. Preferably, legs B3 are mounted to the plate B1 of the prefabricated table structure via foldable connections.
Regarding the corner members G, in order to have different ways of assembly, so that different shelves can be created, a corner member G can be, but not limited to, in one of the followings forms:
(i) A corner member G with "L" shape for perpendicularly assembling among two boards T connected with it;
(ii) A corner member G with "T" shape for 90° angle and 120° angle assembling between two boards T of three boards T boards connected with it;
(iii) A corner member G with "+" shape for perpendicularly assembling between two boards T of four boards T connected with it;
(iv) A corner member G with angle shape for 120° angle assembling between two boards T connected with it
(v) A corner member G with three star wing shape for 60° angle assembling between two boards T of three boards T connected with it;
(vi) A corner member G with Ί" shape for flat (180° angle) assembling between two boards T connected with it; Parts of assembly shelves according to the present invention can be made of medium density fibreboard (MDF), which is one of a cheap and popular materials currently available on the market.
The said objectives and advantages of the present invention and other objectives and advantages thereof are described further herein below.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
A preferred embodiment of the invention herein below is described herein below with references to the enclosed drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is the perspective view of an assembly shelf according to a preferred embodiment of this invention;
Fig. 2 is the perspective view of different types of corner members G used in the assembly shelf presented in in Fig. 1 ;
Fig. 3 is the perspective view of the first type T of the board T as presented in Fig. 1 according to a preferred embodiment of this invention;
Fig. 4 is the top view of the board of type T' as presented in Fig. 3;
Fig. 5 is the cross section of the board type T along the M1-M1 line s presented in Fig. 4;
Fig. 6 is the cross section of the board type T' along the M2-M2 line s presented in Fig. 4; Fig. 7 is the perspective view of the second type T" of the board T according to other preferred embodiment of this invention;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION An embodiment of the invention will be described below with references to the enclosed drawings.
As presented on Fig. 1 , an assembly shelf according to this invention comprises boards T (of type T and/or T") and corner members G of different types used for flat or angle assembling between boards T and/or
T"
Fig. 3 presents a structure of the board of type T' made of MDF comprising a rectangular Ta having pairs of edges T1 and T2, a bar Tc connecting between a pair of edges T2 for reinforcing the board. Trenches T3 and T4 are provided on pairs of edges T1 and T2 respectively by using ordinary woodworking machines that a person with ordinary skill in art can easy use it. The bars of the frame Ta can be fixed with each other by ways of pasting, nailing, screwing or the like. Similarly, slabs Tb made of MDF with the think of several millimetres can be fitted to the surfaces of the frame Ta by pasting, nailing, screwing or the like. The formed rectangular T is a fat, slight and strong.
Fig. 2 presents several types of corner members G, each member G has the length equal to the one of edge T1 of the board T and has convex edges G1 for fitting with trenches T3 of the board T. Different types of corner members G are used for different connection positions of assembly shelves, namely: The corner member Ga is for perpendicularly assembling among two boards T connected with it; the corner member Gb is for 90° angle and 120° angle assembling between two boards T of three boards T boards connected with it; the corner member Gc is for perpendicularly assembling between two boards T of four boards T connected with it; the corner member Gd is for 120° angle assembling between two boards T connected with it; the corner member Ge is for 60° angle assembling between two boards T of three boards T connected with it; and the corner member Gf is for flat (180° angle) assembling between two boards T connected with it. A person having ordinary skill in the art can easily create other types of corner members G using for the same purpose of assembling boards T with each other for creating assembly shelves having different shapes and dimensions.
In one option, one of two bars containing edge T2 of the frame Ta and the bar Tc can be made and attached to other related bars via detachable connections such as screwing (not illustrated). The length of detachable bar containing the edge T2 is limited by bars containing edges T1. By this way, it can utilize the frame Ta to made the frame Td by removing the detachable bar containing the edge T2 and the bar Tc from the frame Ta.
In the Figs. 4 and 5, the trench T3 has trapezium cross section trapezium of which the - longer --side -of -parallel-sides- is the inside one, meanwhile the trench T4 has rectangular cross section. The deepness of these trenches and the material thickness are counted appropriately for ensuring strength of the connections as well as of the assembly shelves. Normally the material thickness is about several centimeters, and the deepness of trenches is around 1 centimeter.
Figs. 7, 8, 9 and 10 present the structure of a board of type T" made of MDF. The board of type T" comprises a frame Td formed with the manner similar to the one for forming the frame Ta or formed from the frame Ta by removing the detachable bar containing edge T2 and the bar Tc As presented above. The board Te has slots T5 arranged equidistantly from each other, and simultaneously, distances from each edge T1 to the first slot T5 at the same side are equal to each other and equal to the distance between adjacent slots T5. The board Te is tightly fitted to the inside the frame Td by using nails, screws or the like. Two slabs Tg having si milar structure to the slabs Tb, but further having slots corresponding to slots T5 of the board Te are fastened on the surfaces of the frame Td with the board Te already fixed thereon, thereby the flat, firm rectangular board of type T" is created. .
Fig. 11 presents an assembling mode of boards of type T" using the corner members Ga. Accordingly, the convex edge G1 of the corner members Ga is fitted to a trench T3 by sliding relatively the convex edge G 1 and a trench T3 with each other from one end of the edge G1 until they are tightly fitted with each other.
Fig. 12 presents an another assembling mode of the assembly shelf according to the invention, by using the boards of type T' and corner members Gd, Ge to create hexagonal with open shelf rooms. Fig. 13 presents an another assembling mode of the assembly shelf according to the invention by using the board of type T", corner members Ga, and fitting trenches T5 on different boards with each other in order to create rectangular or square with open shelf rooms in different dimensions. In use, people can place assembly shelves in accordance with the present invention on a surface, such as ground, or hung them on a wall by using support devices.
Fig. 14 presents a prefabricated door structure C suitable for assembling with corresponding rectangular shelf room. The door structure C comprises a frame C1 containing convex edges C2 for fitting respectively to trenches T4 of the boards T of the corresponding shelf room for which the door C is desinged (not illustrated). The door wings C3 are connected with the frame C1 via door-hinges (not illustrated) which can be easily performed by a person having ordinary skill in art, so that the door wings C3 can be operated for closing or opening the shelf room.
Fig. 15 is a simplified front view of a prefabricated table structure B for assembling with an assembly shelf of the present invention in order to create more utilities for it. This prefabricated table structure B comprises a plate B1 having a convex edge B2 along one its edge at the inside end of the plate B1 , which can tightly fit with a trench T4 of the boards T. Table- legs mounted to other, end of the plate B1 for supporting the plate at horizontal position when the table is assembled to the assembly shelf by fitting convex edge B2 with a trench T4. The legs B3 are foldable mounted to the plate B1 for convenient storage. The foldable connection between legs B3 and the plate B1 can be easily performed by a person having ordinary skill in art.
EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION
Assembly shelves according to the present invention are simple, easy to manufacture and convenient for using, transporting and storage.
Materials for manufacturing these shelves are popular and cheap, and therefore the finished products will have low costs. Additionally, it can utilize plywood, small wooden bars as materials for manufacturing assembly shelves in accordance with the present invention.
Assembly shelves in accordance with the present invention provide means for assembling another parts/prefabricated accessories such as table, door structures via simple tenon joints in order to create more utilities for the assembly shelves. The structure of the boards consists of many layers, and therefore, in addition to the wood material, it can be used different materials for different layers of the boards for increasing its durability, and/or it can use different paint colours for different layers of the board for creating the aesthetic aspects of the assembly shelves.

Claims

1. An assembly shelf comprises:
(i) Boards (T) having, substantially, flat and rectangular shapes, each board T comprising a pair of edge (T1 ), each having a trench (T3) along the length thereof, and a pair of edge (T2);
(ii) Corner members (G), each having convex edges (G1 ) along its length and with the shape compatible with the one of trench (T3) on the edge (T1 ) of the board (T), so that the trench (T3) and convex edge (G1) of the corner member (G) can be assembled to each other by a tenon joint, and corner members (G) used for different assembling positions having the different number of convex edges (G1 ).
The assembly shelf according to claim 1 , where in the length of a corner member (G) is equal to the one of an edge (T1 ) of the board (T).
The assembly shelf according to claim 1 or 2, where the trench (T3) on a edge (T1 ) of the board (T) and convex edge (G1) of a corner member (G) have compatible trapezium cross sections, wherein the longer side of parallel sides of the trapezium cross section of the trench (T3) is the inside one.
The assembly shelf according to any one of claims 1 to 3, where there is one trench (T4) on each edge (T2) and along its length.
5. The assembly shelf according to claim 4, wherein the trench (T4) has trapezium cross section with longer side of its parallel sides is inside one.
6. The assembly shelf according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the board (T) comprises:
(i) a rectangular frame (Ta) having pairs of edges (T1) and (T2) respectively; and
(ii) Two rectangular slabs (Tb) having dimensions corresponding to the one of the frame (Ta), each tightly embodied on a side of the frame (Ta) to create a flat rectangular board (T).
7. The assembly shelf according to claim 6, wherein the frame (Ta) comprises further a reinforcing bar (Tc) connecting opposite edges of the frame (Ta).
8. The assembly shelf according any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the boards (T) comprises further one or more slots T5 perpendicular to edges T2, and equidistant from each other, and simultaneously, distances from each edge T1 to the first slot T5 at the same side are equal to each other and equal to the distance between two adjacent slots T5, and thereby, different boards T can interlock with each other via these slot T5.
9. The assembly shelf, according to claim 8, wherein the board (T) comprise: (i) A frame (Td) with "U" shape and perpendicular corners, comprising pairs of edges (T1) and (T2); and
(ii) An additional board (Te) with rectangular shape containing an edge (T2) and slot(s) (T5), the additional board (Te) have appropriate dimension for fitting to the inside of the frame (Td) in order to create a rectangular board (T) with slots (T5).
10. The assembly shelf according to claim 9, wherein the board (T) comprises further two slabs (Tg) with corresponding dimensions and slots (T5), fastened on the surfaces of the board (T).
11. The assembly shelf according to any one of claims 4 to 10, comprises further prefabricated door structures (C), each prefabricated door structure (C) comprises:
(i) A frame (C1) with a shape corresponding to the one of a room of the assembly shelf, each edge of frame (C1 ) has a convex edge (C2) along a part of its length, and all convex edges (C2) of the frame (C1) are arranged in the same side of the frame, the shape,' dimension and position of this convex edge are made appropriately, so that each can fit with a tenon joints with a trench (T4) on the edges (T2) of the board (T) in order to create a tenon joint, thereby a frame (C1) can be assembled with the respective room of an assembly shelf;
(ii) A door wing (C3) which may be designed in form of one or more door wings having appropriate shape and mounted to one side of the door frame (C1 ), so that the respective room of the assembly shelf can be closed or opened by operating the door wings.
12. The assembly shelf according to claims 4 to 11 , comprises further prefabricated table structures (B), each prefabricated table structure (B) comprises:
(i) A table plate (B1) having at least a strait part on one its side, on which a convex edge (B2) is arranged, the edge (B2) is shaped and dimensioned appropriately so that the edge (B2) can fit with a trench (T4) on an edge (T2) of a board (T); and
(ii ) Legs (B3) connecting appropriately to the plate (B1 ) in order to support the plate (B1) at horizontal position when the convex edge (B2) is fitted to the trench (T4) of the board (T).
13. The assembly shelf according to claim 12, wherein legs (B3) are mounted to the plate (B1) of the prefabricated table structure via foldable connections.
14. The assembly shelf according to any one of claims 1 to 13, wherein a corner member G can be in one of the fallowings forms:
(i) A corner member (Ga) with "L" shape for perpendicularly assembling among two boards T connected with it;
(ii) A corner member (Gb) with "T" shape for 90o angle and 120o angle assembling between two boards T of three boards T boards connected with it; (iii) A corner member (Gc) with "+" shape for perpendicularly assembling between two boards T of four boards T connected with it;
(iv) A corner member (Gd) with angle shape for 120o angle assembling between two boards T connected with it
(v) A corner member (Ge) with three star wing shape for 60° angle assembling between two boards T of three boards T connected with it;
(vi) A corner member (Gf) with Ί" shape for flat (180o angle) assembling between two boards T connected with it;
The assembly shelf according to any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein components of such shelf are made of medium density fibreboard (MDF)
