Abstract

A device for delivery of deodorant substances in motor vehicles is disclosed, consisting of a base comprising a front plate and a body having an inner cavity for housing a head provided with a grip or clip adapted to be attached to or threaded into the slots of an air vent grille of the motor vehicle, characterized in that the grip or clip is made of a foamed plastic material impregnated with a deodorant substance and is provided with a sheath or cover to be applied on the grip or clip, when the device is detached or extracted from the air vent, to prevent deodorant delivery when not required.

Description

CLOSEABLE DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF DEODORANT SUBSTANCES IN
MOTOR VEHICLES
The present invention relates to a device for delivery of deodorant substances in motor vehicles, with innovative features of utility and easiness of use.
Several articles to be applied on the dashboard of a motor vehicle are known, more particularly articles such as deodorants applicable on and/or in the air vents of the interior compartment, that are generally disposed just on the dashboard of a motor vehicle. The attachment with the air vent is generally obtained by means of a grip or clip to be applied to or threaded into the slots of the vent grille.
However this solution has the drawback that the product, once opened the package, delivers the deodorant continuously, so that its charged is rather quickly exhausted. Apparently there are up to now no means to stop or shut delivery of the deodorant substance, for instance when the vehicle is not being used in a period of time or when left locked for an extended parking period.
The present invention brilliantly solves this problem, with a device delivering deodorant substances for motor vehicles, provided with means for stopping or closing the delivery of said substances and also with means to attach and in case detach the device relative to dashboard and/or the air vent.
The device according to the present invention consists of a base comprising a front plate, on which e.g. the logo of the vehicle make or any other desired symbol or sign may be applied, and a body with an internal cavity housing the head of a grip or clip made of foamed plastic material impregnated with a deodorant or scented substance, wherein the grip or clip may be attached to or threaded into the slots of the grille of an air vent of the motor vehicle. The device also comprises a preferably transparent sheath or cover to put on the grip or clip when the device is detached or extracted from the air vent, so as to shut up said grip or clip and prevent a useless delivery of deodorant substance when no persons are present inside the vehicle compartment.
In view of the front flat plate of its base, the device may also be placed in a vertical standing position on the face of a table or desk, continuing its deodorizing function, of course after removal of the clip covering sheath.
The features and advantages of the device of the present invention will be clear and apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment, with reference to the accompanying sheets of drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device and its covering sheath, detached from the device;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged front view of the device base;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged rear view of the base showing the cavity housing the clip head;
Fig. 4 is a front view of the clip with its head;
Fig. 5 is a side view of the clip of Fig. 4; and
Fig. 6 is an enlarged sectional schematic view showing the junction of the clip head in the housing cavity of the base.
With reference now to the accompanying drawings, the device according to the present invention comprises a base 10, approximately square in the illustrative embodiment, whose front surface 12 may be provided with a plate (not shown) held by suitable embedding edges 13 and adapted to include any sign, symbol and/or word, e.g. the logo of the vehicle make on which the device will be used, and a housing body 14 with holding faces 15 and an inner cavity 16 for snap application of a head 18, to which a grip or clip 20 made of a foamed plastic material impregnated with a deodorizing and/or scenting substance is attached. The grip or clip 20 may be threaded or applied on or between the slots of an air vent grille of a motor vehicle. The device comprises also a preferably transparent covering sheath 22 acting as a closure to prevent consumption of deodorant substance when not required. Even the side surfaces 24 of the grip or clip 20 may be used for applying signs, symbols and/or words of any kind. The base 10 and head 18 may be made of a rigid plastic material, the grip or clip 20 of foamed or spongy material that may be impregnated with the deodorant or scenting substance, and the covering sheath 22 of a transparent, preferably but not necessarily rigid plastic material.
The device of the present invention may take any desired outer shape, still falling in the scope of protection as hereinbefore described in detail and shown in the annexed drawings, without departing however from the features recited in the appended claims.

Claims

1. A device for delivery of deodorant substances in motor vehicles, consisting of a base (10) comprising a front plate (12) and a body (14) having an inner cavity (16) for housing a head (18) provided with a grip or clip (20), adapted to be attached to or threaded into the slots of an air vent grille of the motor vehicle, characterized in that the grip or clip (20) is made of a foamed plastic material impregnated with a deodorant substance and is provided with a sheath or cover (22) to be applied on the grip or clip (20), when the device is detached or extracted from the air vent, to prevent deodorant delivery when not required.
2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the sheath or cover (22) is made of transparent plastic material.
3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the base (10) and the head (18) are made of rigid plastic material.
4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the head (18) is snap joined in the inner cavity (16) of the base body (14), guided by holding faces (15) of said base body (14).
5. The device of claim 1 , wherein signs, symbols and/or words may be applied on the side surfaces (24) of the grip or clip (20).
6. The device of claim 1 , wherein signs, symbols and/or words may be applied on a plate embedded between edges (13) provided on the front plate (12) of the base (10).
7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the front plate (12) of the base (10) is flat and may be used as a support of the device in a vertical standing position on any surface, to develop its deodorant function even when detached from a vehicle.
