Description

DERSCRIPTION
A Caliper with the Feature of Measuring Major Diameters of Screws Technical Field
The invention relates to a caliper which will be mounted to the present caliper or produced as a fixed jaw type and which provides measurement convenience and accuracy and increases repeatability in measuring major diameter.
The present invention relates to a nozzle which is mounted to the jaws of the caliper and provides impeccable and precise measuring of major diameters located on the orifice of bottles.
Prior Art
As it is known, calipers are defined as the slide rules which can make precise measurement. Different from the present rules, they comprise the feature of providing the possibility of measuring and reading highly precisely. They are produced in different sizes and shapes according to the purpose of using. Slide rules are usually used for measuring the length, external diameter, internal diameter and depth.
Slide rules are produced according to metric system and inch system. In mechanic calipers, by adding a part called vernier, the possibility of reading with a precision of 1/10, 1/20, 1/50 of 1 mm is provided. Currently, calipers with digital screens are used and precision of 0.01 mm can be read easily.
In present implementations, in case of holding the caliper horizontally, difficulties in measuring occur and reliable measurement cannot be made, since the caliper jaws does not meet the screw thread rising helically at the both sides of the diameter. In other words, finding precise diameters of the screw threads or measuring it by finding its projection is quite hard. In this situation, measurement is not practical. Moreover, in the measurement devices; since the position of the caliber cannot be adjusted properly, the rate of inaccurate measuring and deviation of repeatability in measurement are high. The patent search related to the prior art revealed an American patent with the number US3126638. In this application, a screw spindle is mounted on the fine adjustment slide and there is a clamping jaw to adjust the slide upon the rotation of the nut, which is an adjustment nut. The jaw mounted on the spindle and comprises a shaft which is contacting with the second measuring bar. Also, it comprises a clamping jaw; and a clamping lever which is mounted on a lifter arm arranged for activating the second movement. In another application with the number US3273248, a caliper which measures the surfaces which will be measured and have different features is mentioned. The apparatuses with different features which are fixed on the measuring jaws of the present caliper are disclosed. The present apparatuses comprise the features of measuring straight surfaces, cylindrical surfaces, as well as the length and root of a thread.
Description of the Invention
An object of the invention is to provide different technical features which will bring a new development into the related field, different from the caliper embodiments of the prior art. An object of the invention is to provide a caliper with the feature of measuring major diameters of screws formed on the cylindrical surfaces.
An object of the invention is that caliper jaws are in a form with radius. Thus, the jaws grasping cylindrical surfaces comprise the same formal structure as cylindrical surfaces. In this way, the jaws can be located at the right measuring point in measurable diameters. On the other hand, since the height of the jaws are greater than the pitch, they are able to fit in the major diameters of the screw in the opposed sides of the diameter and reliable reading can be performed practically. That is to say, since the jaws of the caliper comprise a specific radius and height, in all conditions and situations, the jaws of the caliper are located on the threads and they can be measured towards the major diameter.
In other words, position of a major diameter of the screws on a cylindrical surface may not match with the opposed screw thread in horizontal plane. In that case, when it is placed on today's standard major diameters of a caliper, measuring is done with a specific angle; in short, projection of the diameter on that angle is measured. This is not the correct major diameter.
An object of the invention is to provide easy and accurate measurement by mounting a nozzle which will meet this height. Another objective of the invention is to detect the deviations of the measured diameters easily, since it makes the process of measuring quite practical.
To achieve the objects mentioned above; an additional nozzle is mounted which comprises radius and a surface with a specific height and which measures the pitched screwed major diameters of structured or circular formed products on said fixed jaws and the sliding jaws on the standard caliper.

Detailed Description of the Invention
In figure 1; representative views of the caliper (100) are illustrated while measuring the major diameter of the cylindrical screwed part to be measured (150). A standard caliper (100) comprises a fixed jaw (110) and a sliding jaw (120) configured on a guide rail (160).
In figure 2; representative close-up view of the present caliper (100) is illustrated. Nozzles (130) which comprise a specific clutching height (h) and a surface with radius (131) and which are preferably formed with monolithic or modular structure are mounted both on the fixed jaw (110) and the sliding jaw (120). Those jaws comprise a formation appropriate for the circular form of the product (150) which will be measured.
When the jaws comprising a surface with radius (131) are closed, since measurement surfaces cannot be in the zero position, by measuring 10 mm calibration cylinder gage (151), the digital indicator is reset.
During the following measurements, the reading is done by adding +10 mm. Or, software of the digital caliper (100) can be written in a way that it will be adjusted to +10 when the reset button is pressed. The nozzles (130) are in a circular form. Moreover, they have greater clutching heights (h) than those of the pitches to be read. It is possible that the present nozzle (130) can be structured preferably on the fixed jaws (110) and the sliding jaws (120) in a modular form. It is also possible for it to be formed solidly on the fixed jaw (110) and the sliding jaw (120). Moreover, it can be easily placed on the major diameter in the horizontal plane, since it has a greater clutching height (h) than that of the pitch. Consequently, reliable and precise measurement of the major diameters (d) of the surfaces in a circular form can be made. In figure-3, two-dimensional close-up detailed view of the bottle throat, i.e. the cylindrical screwed part (150) which will be measured, is illustrated. With the present caliper (100), the measurement of major diameter (d) of the cylindrical screwed part (150) which will be measured on cylindrical surfaces, especially in a preferred bottle throat as in the figure, can be made easily and precisely.
Since the nozzles (130) cannot measure the gauge bigger than their own diameter, they cannot match with the measurement diameter; the nozzles with different radius sizes according to the measurement gap will be used. These measurements are planned in the range given below.
0-25 mm 25-50 mm
50-75 mm
75-100 mm or a special radius can be made.
