Abstract
An a circuit breaker (2) and a switchgear comprising said air circuit breaker (2) is characterized, in view of the object of specifying an air circuit breaker, by means of which the emergence of hot ionized gases can be controlled, by a chamber (1) and/or muffler for the reception of hot ionized gases which emerge from the air circuit breaker (2).
Description
Air circuit breaker for a switchqear and switchqear
The invention relates to an air circuit breaker for a switchgear, in particular a low voltage or medium voltage switchgear, and a switchgear comprising at least one air circuit breaker.
When air circuit breakers are used, it may happen that hot ionized gases emerge from these. This may occur particularly in the event of a short- circuit or when an air circuit breaker is switched off.
The hot ionized gases which emerge from the air circuit breaker are a risk to devices which are arranged around the circuit breaker space. The operation of these devices may be impaired or damaged by the gases, since the hot gases get rapidly released and are under high pressure.
There is therefore a need for a technical solution, by means of which the surrounding devices and operating/service personnel can be protected from being adversely affected by these gases.
Furthermore, the risk of forming an arc at adjacent parts/conductors which are under voltage and/or are live is reduced.
There is, in particular, a need for a mechanical solution, by means of which the emergence of hot gases can be controlled.
The object on which the invention is based is, therefore, to specify an air circuit breaker, by means of which the emergence of hot ionized gases can be controlled.
The above object is achieved, according to the invention, by means of an air circuit breaker having the features of Patent Claim 1 . Accordingly, the air circuit breaker mentioned in the introduction is characterized by a chamber for the reception and/or control of hot ionized gases which emerge from the air circuit breaker.
According to the invention, use is made of the fact that gases can be compressed in a suitable chamber and/or muffler. According to the invention, a chamber and/or muffler is used which can receive and/or direct and/or enclose the hot gases in a closed volume. The hot gases can be cooled in the chamber in order to reduce their capacity for expansion. Finally, the flow direction of the hot gases can be controlled by the chamber. An air circuit breaker is thus far specified, by means of which the emergence of hot ionized gases can be controlled.
The object mentioned in the introduction is consequently achieved and solved.
In a further embodiment ribs are advantageously arranged inside the chamber and/or muffler. The hot gas can be cooled down by means of the ribs. The ribs can function as cooling ribs in the manner of a heat exchanger. Furthermore, the ribs reduce and/or damp down the initial kinetic energy of the gas in the manner of or like a spring.
Advantageously, in a further embodiment, three ribs are arranged inside the chamber and/or muffler and have in cross section an L-shaped configuration. The chamber is thereby reinforced and stabilized from inside.
In a further embodiment, the ribs, in particular the three ribs, are arranged in parallel and equispaced to each other.
Advantageously, in a further embodiment, the ribs are arranged at an inclination to the horizontal. By a suitable inclination and/or configuration of the ribs, the gas can be routed and/or directed to the rear side of the chamber and/or muffler.
The chamber and/or muffler is preferably placable or placed onto an air circuit breaker, and in particular on or onto an already installed one.
In a further embodiment, the chamber and/or muffler may be arranged in a modularized air circuit breaker box, which may be attached to, in particular on top, of an air circuit breaker and in particular an already mounted or installed air circuit breaker of a low voltage switchgear.
Furthermore, both the chamber and the air circuit breaker may preferably be incorporated into the frame of a switchgear cabinet.
Moreover, the object is also solved or achieved by a switchgear, in particular a low voltage or medium voltage switchgear, comprising a switchgear cabinet with a frame and at least one air circuit breaker, as disclosed above, comprising a chamber and/or muffler for the reception and/or direction of hot ionized gases which emerge from the air circuit breaker.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of a chamber and muffler chamber
respectively which has inside it three ribs of L-shaped cross section,
Fig. 2 shows a sectional view of an air circuit breaker which is provided with a chamber according to Fig. 1 , the chamber being placed onto the air circuit breaker, and
Fig. 3 shows an arrangement which comprises a frame, a chamber according to Fig. 1 and an air circuit breaker, the chamber and the air circuit breaker being arranged in a frame. Fig. 1 shows a chamber 1 ; in particular a muffler chamber or muffler, for the reception of hot ionized gases which emerge from an air circuit breaker 2.
Fig. 2 shows such an air circuit breaker 2 which has a chamber 1 for the reception and/or direction of hot ionized gases which emerge from the air circuit breaker 2. The chamber 1 is placed onto the air circuit breaker, weherein ribs 3, in particular at least three ribs, may arranged inside the chamber 1 . In the exemplary embodiment of Fig. 2 three ribs 3 are arranged inside the chamber 1 and have in cross section an L-shaped configuration. In particular the L-shaped configuration provides a flow- optimized contour for controlling and/or cooling down of the emerging hot gases. The three ribs 3 extend along a horizontal which runs from a front side 4 to a rear side 5 of the chamber 1 . The ribs 3 are arranged at an inclination to the horizontal. The gas can be routed to a rear side 5 of the chamber 1 by the ribs 3. The interior of the chamber 2 is designed as a closed-off space in which the gas can be received. The ribs 3 may be configured as sheet-like gas guide plates. Furthermore, the chamber and/or muffler may be built as a air circuit breaker box, in particular a modularized air circuit breaker box comprising several built-in components, attachable to an already mounted air circuit breaker.
The air circuit breaker box, comprises a chamber 1 and/or muffler for the reception and/or control of hot ionized gases which emerge from the air circuit breaker 2, and a base plate, four side-walls, including a front wall 4 and a rear wall 5, and a top cover plate, wherein the base plate comprises at least one gas inlet, and wherein the box is attachable to an air circuit breaker, and in particular an already mounted air circuit breaker.
Furthermore, ribs 3, in particular three ribs, may be arranged inside the chamber and/or muffler of said box, which have in cross section an L- shaped configuration. The ribs 3 may be arranged at an inclination to the horizontal.
Furthermore, fixing means may be provided, by which the box is detachably connectable and/or fixable and/or mountable to the air circuit breaker and/or a switchgear cabinet, in particular a switchgear cabinet frame, wherein the fixing means may comprise a hooklike or clamplike device by which the box is attachable to the respective air circuit breaker. This hooklike or clamplike device may extend partly over a longitudinal side or border of the base plate.
Fig. 3 shows a frame 6 which can be used in a switch cabinet. The air circuit breaker 2 and the chamber 1 are arranged in the frame 6.
