Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a glass panel comprising a connecting flange which realises a fixing system between the panel and a support.
  • the glass panel according to the present invention enables obviating these drawbacks due to inner stresses in the material of the panel; these stresses arise due to the constraining action of the forces applied by the connecting means to which the action of fixing the glass panel to the support is devolved.
  • the invention is particularly useful in the sector of layered glass panels and even more in particular - but not exclusively - in the sector of manufactured products comprising the connection of glass panels on other supporting elements, also made of glass.
  • layered glass panel is used to denote a panel realised by joining two or more layers of glass, alternated with a sheet made of a plastic material.
  • the structure thus obtained is heated, pressed and subjected to treatment in an autoclave at variable temperatures and pressures so as to expel the air between the layers and enable adhesion and bonding of the entire panel.
  • fixing a glass panel 100 to a surface 3a of a vertical supporting element 3, which could also be made of glass is obtained by the use of a plate 400 - typically a metal plate - interposed between the layers 100a, 100b, 100c of the glass panel 100 to be fixed; generally, the plate is positioned in replacement of a portion of edge of the central glass pane 100c, that is, the one substantially in the middle of the panel 100. Therefore, the central layer 100c is, in the perpendicular direction to the surface 3a of the supporting element 3 to which the panel will fixed, shorter than the others.
  • the panel 100 is equipped with a lateral bordering surface 200 designed to abut against the surface 3a of the support 3, in such a way that the plate 400 can be constrained to the supporting element 3 by connecting means 5 such as screws or the like; in more detail, the connecting means 5 are inserted on the opposite side of the surface 3a of the support 3 on which the panel will go in abutment.
  • the plate is configured so as to receive them.
  • the plate is in turn joined to the panel, in particular to the layers of the panel in the case of a multi-layer panel, so that the panel remains in equilibrium.
  • the plate 400 exhibits a longitudinal portion 400c fixed to the panel and positioned parallel to base surfaces S', S" of the panel itself.
  • the above-mentioned plate 400 that replaces a portion of the edge of the panel - or a layer of the panel - is often not inserted snugly in the panel itself; in particular, owing to tolerances or manufacturing defects, the edge of the plate is not squared with the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel, but is slightly recessed relative thereto.
  • the edge of the plate is not squared with the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel, but is slightly recessed relative thereto.
  • this drawback may occur even if the edge of the plate is squared or projects relatively to the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel.
  • this force determines a flexion of the support 3 which generates a pair of opposite forces, precisely traction and compression, acting respectively on the plate and on a part of the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel (for example, on the lower layer 100b of the panel 100 of figure 1), depending on the straight line of application of the transversal force with respect to the plate.
  • the pair of forces disadvantageously determines a relative sliding between the plate and the layer of glass adjacent to it (above and/or below the plate itself, depending on the application line of the transversal force).
  • a membrane G made of a deformable material can further be placed between the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel and the surface 3a of the support 3, which membrane G is necessary for preventing - or reducing - infiltration of dirt and moisture and suitable for damping the stresses between the panel and the support.
  • the seal is made of a deformable material, it can be subject to different crushing forces at the plate and of the layers adjacent to the plate, following the action exerted on the plate by of the connecting means.
  • the plate is squared with the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel, it is very possible that the action exerted by the connecting means can cause relative sliding between the plate and the portion of panel (or the layer, in the case of multi-layer panels) just above and/or just below the plate itself; further, the action exerted by the connecting means may cause a distancing of the plate from the central layer at which the plate is located.
  • the presence of the membrane in deformable material may cause different movements of the layers of the panel and of the plate in the direction which is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the support to which the panel is to be fixed.
  • a non-squared alignment between the edge of the plate and the lateral bordering surface 200 of the panel or the load exerted by force transversal to the support or, the action of the connecting means can be the cause of relative sliding between the plate and the glass bordering it.
  • These relative sliding actions can disadvantageously easily lead to detachments between glass layers adjacent to and/or between the glass layers and the plate and/or between the plate and the panel in its entirety (in the case of panels that are not multi-layer panels), creating undesired air bubbles which, as well as generating aesthetic flaws, determine a deterioration of the adhesion between the glass and the plate, leading to significant problems of mechanical strength and of wear.
  • the aim of this invention is to disclose a glass panel integrated with a fixing system comprising a connecting flange which prevents, or reduces, infiltration of dirt and moisture, which simultaneously obstructs and possibly eliminates occurrence of detachment, adhesive failure and/or relative sliding between the layers of the panel and/or between the panels and the connecting flange and/or between the plate and the panel in its entirety (in the case of panels that are not multi-layer).
  • a further aim of the invention is to provide a glass panel integrated with a fixing system comprising a connecting flange able to obstruct - and possibly eliminate - the occurrence of detachment, failure of adhesion and/or relative sliding between the glass and the flange, even in the presence of loads exerted by transversal forces to the support and/or in the presence of glass panels that are not squared.
  • the set technical purpose and the specified aims are substantially attained by a glass panel comprising the technical characteristics described in one or more of the appended claims.
  • the dependent claims correspond to further embodiments of a method according to this invention.
  • the panel of the invention is made of glass and comprises base surfaces delimited by a lateral bordering surface designed to be constrained to a supporting element and comprises, moreover, a connecting flange designed to receive connecting means with the supporting element, wherein the connecting flange comprises a longitudinal portion fixed to the panel and positioned transversally in relation to the lateral bordering surface.
  • the connecting flange comprises a transversal extension positioned transversally relative to the longitudinal portion so as to cover a part of the lateral bordering surface facing the support, so as to abut against a supporting surface of the supporting element. More in detail, the transversal extension opposes and adheres to the part of the lateral bordering surface facing the support, in such a way as to form an abutment designed to abut against the surface of the supporting element.

  • the longitudinal portion and transversal extension are preferably suitable for being connected by the connecting means in the assembled configuration of the panel and of the supporting element.
  • the first and the second portion of the extension transversal are preferably made in a single piece.

  • the bonding material is even more preferably selected from among PVB, EVA, wood or an ionoplastic material.
