Description
DEVICE FOR RECOVERING A GOLF BALL
The present invention refers to a device for recovering and re-positioning a golf ball, fastened to a golf club.
As known, a golf club is composed of a thin tube with variable length, grasped in its upper part by a player with both hands, and of a head a few centimeters wide, suitable to struck the ball.
A device is known in the art for recovering a golf ball, through a retracting mechanism suitable to take the golf ball and to re-position it on the playground: such retracting mechanism is driven by a rod equipped with a handle; an example of such device is disclosed, in particular, in JP2009118926. It is clear how such device cannot be made integral with a golf club.
A golf club is also known, characterized by a head equipped with a concave recess, suitable, through a specific movement of the hands given onto the club handle, to recover a golf ball inside such concave surface; an example is disclosed, in
particular, in US5692968. It is known how clubs are mutually different due to their length and their head inclination, in particular due to the inclination of the face of the head aimed to strike the ball, with respect to the vertical plane; consequently, it is clear how the use of a golf club equipped with a head provided with such particular surface can negatively affect the efficiency of a shot performed by a player with such golf club.
A second device fastened onto the upper portion of a golf club, in particular on the final part of the golf club handle, is also known. Such device comprises metallic, U-shaped bends fastened at the ends of the golf club through a system of springs, whose actuation enables the recovery of a golf, ball from the ground, through an overlapping action of the golf club; an example of such device is disclosed, in particular, in US3401970. It is known that the handle of a golf club needs suitable sizes and shapes to allow a player to exert the right pressure onto the golf club, and consequently onto the golf ball: in fact, in order to improve the grip of the golf club, a rubber pipe suitable for the player's hand is inserted at the end of the
club. It is clear that the positioning of such device in the extreme part of the handle of the golf club could break the rubber pipe and impair an optimum grasp of the golf club and consequently of the shot made by the player.
No devices are instead known which can be easily made, have small size and encumbrance, and are operatively efficient, adapted to collect a golf ball and to re-position it on a "tee" or other launching surface, without the user has to bend himself to collect and re-position the ball.
Object of the present invention is solving the above prior art problems, by providing a device which can be fastened to a golf club, which can be easily made, has small size and encumbrance, and is operatively efficient, and is adapted to collect a golf ball and to re-position it on a "tee" or other launching surface, without the user has to bend himself to collect and re-position the ball.
A further object of the present invention is providing a device as described above, which does not prevent the optimum use of the golf club.
A. further object of the present invention is providing a device which can be adapted to different types of known golf clubs.
The above and other objects and advantages of the invention, as will appear from the following description, are obtained with a device for recovering and re-positioning a golf ball as claimed in Claim 1. Preferred embodiments and non- trivial variations of the present invention are the subject matter of the dependent claims.
It is intended that all enclosed claims are an integral part of the present description.
It will be immediately obvious that numerous variations and modifications (for example related to shape, sizes, arrangements and parts with equivalent functionality) could be made to what is described, without departing from the scope of the invention, as appears from the enclosed claims.
The present invention will be better described by some preferred embodiments thereof, provided as a non-limiting example, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a three-dimensional view of a preferred embodiment of the device according to the present invention;
Figure 2 shows a view of the main components of the device according to the present invention; - Figure 3 shows a three-dimensional view of the
device housing a golf ball according to the present invention;
Figure 4 shows a three-dimensional view of the device fastened to a golf club according to the present invention;
Figure 5 shows a three-dimensional view of the device housing a golf ball fastened to a golf club according to the present invention; and
Figure 6 shows a front view of the device fastened to a golf club with the related inclinations according to the present invention.
With reference to the Figures, it is possible to note that the device 1 for collecting and repositioning a golf ball 11 according to the present invention is fastened onto a lower portion 4 of a golf club 13, next to a head 12 of such golf club 13.
The above mentioned device 1 substantially comprises :
fastening means 2 of the device 1 to the golf club 13; and
collecting means 5 of the golf ball 11 connected to the fastening means 2, such collecting means 5 being shaped as a half-circle scythe, whose extension is such as to allow collecting the golf
ball 11 and such to prevent its fall during its re¬ positioning.
In particular, the device 1 according to the present invention, made of material such as titanium, aluminium or other suitable one, comprises :
the fastening means 2, composed for example as a metallic ring or other suitable one, equipped with at least one first and one second surface which are mutually facing;
the collecting means 5 connected to the second surface of the fastening means 2 through at least one connecting means 6, such as a metallic connector with cylindrical stem or other suitable one;
at least one closing mechanism of the device 1, adapted to fasten the device 1 to the golf club 13 next to the lower portion 4;
at least two or more blocking means 3 mutually connected to the fastening means 2, such blocking means 3 and such fastening means being adapted to compose the device 1.
Still in particular, the half-circle scythe of the collecting means 5 is shaped with a height for engaging the golf ball 11 which is progressively
decreasing when going away from the golf club 13, till it reaches a free, substantially pointed external end, as shown.
In particular, each of the blocking means 3 is equipped with at least one internal surface adapted to be connected with the portion 4 of the golf club 13, and with at least one external surface, facing the internal surface, adapted to be connected with the first surface of the fastening means 2 through, for example, a mechanical fastening system or other suitable system.
As shown in the Figures, each one of the blocking means 3 is advantageously curved, to be adapted to the tubular shape which characterizes known golf clubs, and moreover the internal surface of each one of the blocking means 3 is equipped with anti-sliding elements 3a, adapted to guarantee a better adherence of the device 1 to the lower portion 4 of the golf club 13.
The fastening means 2, in the preferred embodiment as shown, comprise: at least one first and one second element 2a, 2b advantageously provided with a curvilinear shape, adapted to be suited to the shape of the blocking means 3 connected thereto; and at least one hinge mechanism
7 adapted to connect at least one first end of the first element 2a to at least one first end of the second element 2b, enabling a dimensional adaptation of the device 1 to the golf club 13. In particular, the first element 2a is equipped with a first end connected to the hinge mechanism 7 and with at least one second end connected to at least one toothed element 9 of the closing mechanism, such as, for example, a rack or other suitable one; or, the second element 2b is equipped with a first end always connected to the hinge mechanism 7 and with at least one second end connected to the at least one hollow element of the closing mechanism of the device 1.
The hollow element is equipped with at least one second toothed element 8 such as, for example, a rack or other suitable one, and the second toothed element 8 is equipped with at least one handle 10 adapted to enable blocking the first toothed element 9 inside the hollow element.
The closing mechanism of the device 1 comprises the first toothed element 9 and the hollow element, and consists in at least one passage of the first toothed element 9 inside the hollow element and in the related sliding of the
toothed element 9 with respect to the second toothed element 8.
Finally, the collecting means 5 are connected to the second surface of the fastening means 2 through the connecting means 6. In particular, the collecting means 5 are advantageously a half- circle, equipped with an inclined internal surface, adapted to enable collecting and re-positioning a golf ball 11, such inclined internal surface being suited to the spherical surface of the golf ball 11, inviting it to be positioned inside the collecting means 5.
As shown in Figure 6, such collecting means 5 are preferably slanted by an angle of 8° with respect to a horizontal reference plane; on such horizontal plane, the golf club 13 is placed in order to arrange the head 12 of the golf club 13 in parallel with the horizontal reference plane. Finally, always as shown in Figure 6, the collecting means 5 are preferably slanted by an angle of 68° with respect to a plane parallel to the external surface of the second element 2b.
