Description

CONVERTIBLE HANDBAG, SHOULDERBAG, RUCKSACK
The invention belongs to human necessities, namely to hand or travelling articles, in particular to bags convertible into objects for other use.
The purpose of the invention is to create a durable bag, which could be simply manufactured and functionally, reliably and safely used either as a handbag, a shoulder bag or a rucksack without any outwardly protruding notches or hard protrusions, which could lead to sticking or tearing or any other reason for hindering durability of the use thereof.
A multi-purpose bag is in the form of a parallelepipedial trunk disclosed in US 6,220,493 B, and consists of a hard material, by which the form-stability thereof is ensured. A zip extends along the circumference in the vertical plane and is intended to connect a cover and a base of the bag. At least two rigid eyes are available both on the top and the bottom part of such bag, which serve for guiding and positioning of a strap, which can be wound around the base of the bag in different manners. Said strap is on its terminal portions furnished with carbines, by means of which said strap can be attached to each disposable eyes. When the strap is introduced through said eyes and by means of carbines attached to both upper eyes, a pair of braces is obtained by means of said strap, and the bag is then serving as a rucksack. When the strap is introduced through the upper eyes and by means of carbines attached to the lower eyes, then the bag is used as a shoulder bag with a single longer brace. Such bag is therefore suitable for various modes of exploitation, but the manufacturing thereof is pretty complicated due to furnishing said strap with carbines and said base with said eyes, and moreover, the presence of said carbines and eyes can in contact with other objects or clothes of each user lead to sticking, which is in various situations inconvenient and results in damage of said objects or the clothes of each user or also of the bag as such.
Quite similarly conceived bag is also disclosed in DE 100 55 165 Al, by which however a pair of vertically apart from each other spaced notches is available on each of two opposite lateral surfaces, and a band is introduced there-through, the lateral portions of which are attached to the bag in the central area of the rear surface adjacent to the top edge thereof. Said band is sufficiently loose to enable exploitation of the bag either as a shoulder bag or a rucksack. When the band is pulled-out and the bag is exploited as a shoulder bag, then the braces on said rear surface are still present on said rear surface, which by walking around leads to sticking to other objects, or even to buttons, straps or any other parts of clothes of each user.
Another similarly conceived bag is disclosed in EP 1 323 362 A2, and is on its external surface also furnished with non-detachable accessories like notches and clamps, which may essentially complicate exploitation and lead either to damage of the user's clothing or to sticking to various objects in the adjacency.
The present invention refers to a bag, which comprises a flexible strap and attaching members, so that by means of displacing said strap along said attaching members in various combinations said bag is convertible either to handbag, shoulder bag of rucksack.
The invention provides that such bag comprises a pair of mutually parallel to each other and apart from each other arranged and essentially rigid, namely form-stable, side walls of essentially equal shape and dimensions, which are each per se furnished with a continuous circumferential edge, as well as a flexible intermediate area, which also extends continuously along the complete circumference thereof and is offset radially inwards with respect to said circumferential edges of said lateral walls and furnished with a zip, which is arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical axis during the use of the bag, as well as with attaching members, which are arranged along the circumference thereof at corresponding distance apart from each other, wherein said bag further comprises a strap, the width of which is smaller than the distance between said lateral walls. Attaching members are arranged on said strap, and are appropriately distributed between each terminal portion and a central region of the strap, so that the distance between each two of them corresponds to said circumferential distance between each pair of the attaching members on the intermediate area of the bag, while the length of the central region is larger than said distance between each neighboring attaching members. Said bag is furthermore furnished with a flexible band, which is arranged in the area of said vertical axis on the side of the zip and is in a non- detachable manner fixed to one of said side walls and on its free end portion furnished with an attaching member, by means of which it is in a detachable manner connectable with a further attaching member, which is located on each residual side wall.
In a preferred embodiment of said bag, the lateral walls are flat and smooth at least on their outwardly facing surfaces, wherein the shape of their circumference is selected from the group consisting of a circle, ellipse, oval, parallelogram, square, hexagon, octagon or any other axially symmetric or asymmetric polygon.
Said attaching member on the band, which is arranged on the vertical axis and extends over the intermediate area between said lateral walls, is a longitudinal notch, while the attaching member, which is adapted for attaching said band to each corresponding lateral wall, is a button.
Moreover, each of said attaching members arranged in the intermediate area is a button, while each of said attaching members on the strap is a longitudinal notch, which is adapted to cooperate with each corresponding button.
Whenever said lateral walls are circular, the invention preferably provides that each of two attaching members in the intermediate area is arranged in position, which is relative to said vertical axis declined at the angle, which amounts at least approximately 70° relative to said vertical axis, while the residual attaching members are also arranged symmetrically with respect to said vertical axis and in such manner that the distance between them is equal to the distance between each of them and each neighboring attaching member, which is declined at said angle with respect to said vertical axis, wherein said distance also corresponds to the distance between each neighboring attaching members on the terminal portions of said strap. In such case it is preferred that the length of the central region of the strap is from 40% to 100% larger than the distance between each pair of said attaching members on the terminal portions of said strap.
The invention will be described on the basis of embodiments, which are presented in the attached drawings, wherein
Fig. 1 is a side view of a bag with removed strap;
Fig. 2 is a schematically presented cross-section of a bag according to Fig. 1 with circular lateral walls and a strap, which is used as a shoulder bag;
Fig. 3 is a top view of separately presented strap of the bag according to Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a schematically presented cross-section of a bag according to Fig. 1 with circular lateral walls and a strap, which is used as a handbag;
Fig. 5 is a schematically presented cross-section of a bag according to Fig. 1 with circular lateral walls and a strap, which is used as a rucksack; and
Fig. 6 is a schematically presented cross-section of a bag according to Fig. 1 with square lateral walls and a strap, which is used as a rucksack.
A bag according to present invention generally comprises a flexible strap 6 (Fig. 2) and attaching members 51, 52, 53, 54 which are suitable for attachment of said strap 6, so that in various combinations of displacing said band 6 along said attaching members 51, 52, 53, 54 the bag is able to be converted either to handbag (Fig. 4) or to shoulder bag (Fig. 2), or even to rucksack (Fig. 6), when desired.
Said bag according to the invention (Fig. 1) comprises a pair of mutually parallel and apart of each other arranged essentially rigid i.e. form-stable lateral walls 1, 2 with mutually identical shape and dimensions, which are each per se furnished with a continuous circumferential edge 10, 20, and moreover a flexible intermediate area 3, which continuously extends along the circumference of said bag and is along the complete circumference of the bag offset radially inwards with respect to said circumferential edges 10, 20 of said lateral walls 1, 2 and furnished with a zip 4, which is arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical axis V during the use of the bag, as well with attaching members 51, 52, 53, 54, which are arranged at suitable distance a apart from each other, wherein said bag is furthermore furnished with a flexible strap 6 (Fig. 3), the width T of which is smaller than the distance between said lateral walls 1, 2 and which is also furnished with attaching members 61 ', 62', 63', 64'; 61 ", 62", 63", 64", which are correspondingly arranged between each terminal portion 61, 62 and the central region 60 of said strap 6.
Said distance a between each two neighboring attaching members 6 , 62', 63', 64'; 61", 62", 63", 64" corresponds to circumferential distance a between each neighboring attaching members 51, 52, 53, 54 on the intermediate area 3 between the lateral walls 1, 2 of the bag, while the length b of the central region 60 of the strap 6 is larger than said distance a between each neighboring attaching members 6Γ, 62', 63', 64'; 61", 62", 63", 64" on the terminal portions 61, 62 of the strap 6.
The bag is furthermore furnished with a flexible band 7, which is arranged in the area of said vertical axis Von the side of the zip 4 and is generally non-detachably attached to one of said lateral walls 1, 2 and on its free end portion 71 furnished with an attaching member 77, by means of which it is, after placement thereof over the intermediate area 3, detachably connectable with a further attaching member 8, which is mounted on each residual lateral wall 1, 2. Said lateral walls 1, 2 are generally flat and smooth at least on their outwardly facing surfaces, but the shape of their circumference is selected from the group consisting of a circle, ellipse, oval, parallelogram, square, hexagon, octagon or any other axially symmetric or asymmetric polygon. They are substantially produced of flexible plates consisting of thermoplastic material on the basis of polymers, which is coated with a cover consisting either of textile on the basis of natural or artificial fibers or a mixture thereof, or of leather or any other suitable resistant material. Quite similarly, also the intermediate area 3 may consist of textile, into which on the one hand said zip 3 is integrated and which is in the other hand by means of corresponding seams connected to said lateral walls 1, 2. On the other hand, said strap 6 and said band 7 can be made of the same material, in particular of a textile consisting of thermoplastic artificial fibers on the basis of polymers.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said attaching member 77 on the band 7, which is arranged in the vertical axis V and extends between said lateral walls 1, 2 above the intermediate area 3 and the zip 4, is a longitudinal notch, while the attaching member 8, which serves for attachment of said band 7 onto each corresponding side wall 1, 2, is a button. It is also preferred, if each of said attaching member 51, 52, 53, 54 in the intermediate area 3 is a button, and each attaching member 61', 62', 63', 64'; 61", 62", 63", 64" on the strap 6 is a longitudinal notch, which is adapted to cooperate with each of said buttons.
Whenever said lateral walls 1, 2 are circular (Figs 2, 4 and 5), it is in view of functionality preferred, if each of two attaching members 51, 52 in the intermediate area 3 is arranged in position, which is relative to said vertical axis V declined at the angle a, which amounts at least approximately 70° relative to said vertical axis V, while the residual attaching members 53, 54 are also arranged symmetrically with respect to said vertical axis V and in such manner that the distance a between them is equal to the distance a between each of them and each neighboring attaching member 51, 52, which is declined at said angle a with respect to said vertical axis V, wherein said distance a also corresponds to the distance a between each neighboring attaching member 6 , 62', 63', 64'; 61", 62", 63", 64" on the terminal portions 61, 62 of said strap 6.
In this, the length b of the central region 60 of the strap 6 is from 40% to 100% larger than the distance a between each pair of said attaching member 6Γ, 62', 63', 64'; 61", 62", 63", 64" on the terminal portions 61, 62 of said strap 6, which enables the strap 6, when it is wound around the intermediate area 3, to remain loose and to form a grip, when such bag is used as a handbag (Fig. 4).
When the bag is used as a rucksack (Figs. 5 and 6), the strap 6 is fixed exclusively to the terminal attaching members 61 ', 61 ", and in the area of said vertical axis V extends between said band 7 and said intermediate area 3.
When the bag is used as a shoulder bag (Fig. 2), the strap 6 is at least by means of the terminal attaching members 61 ', 61 " fixed to the attaching members 53, 54 in the intermediate area 3, and optionally with two neighboring attaching members 62', 62" to the residual attaching members 51, 52.
