DESCRIPTION
SEALED, BREAKABLE LID LOCKING MECHANISM FOR PACKAGING
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a sealed, breakable lid locking mechanism that prevents the lid and the packaging from separating when said lid, as used in plastic packaging boxes for all manner of products such as solid, liquid and similar foods and having a rectangular or other geometric shape, is closed. Prior Art
Boxes used in the packaging industry display a series of faults that include failure to prevent leakage of contents and protect against external elements. Furthermore, said boxes may also be opened by others prior to the consumer's purchase. These problems are attributable to the lids bundled with these packages. Thus, significant efforts to develop solutions to the aforementioned problems have been underway for quite some time.
The lids on packages currently available on the market may be unintentionally opened or appear to have been tampered with when consumers accidentally lift the tabs on the packages located on the shelves when shopping.
In the prior art, packaging lids can be easily opened, leading to the range of odors present in the surrounding environment to penetrate the contents of the package (cakes, ice cream, yoghurt, etc.) and elements such as dust, dirt and bacteria making contact with the product. Furthermore, the fact that lids can come loose quite easily during transport, display and promotion makes it difficult to preserve the contents of the packaging and results in higher costs. This has a negative effect on the usability of food packages known in the prior art. The object and brief description of the invention
The food packaging provided by the invention relates to a breakable or tearable lid locking mechanism produced from a plastic material having the advantageous
properties of being lightweight, durable and lockable in order to facilitate storage, preservation and shelf promotion and optimal protection for foods during transport.
The object of developing the breakable lid locking mechanism of the invention are as follows:
Ensuring that the consumer is the first to open the lightweight and durable food packaging,
Ensuring better hygiene for the contents of the food packaging for consumers,
Providing more practical use for consumers of the food products being preserved inside the food packaging,
Preventing spillage of or damage to food products inside the packaging through the use of the lid locking mechanism in the event that said packaging is knocked over or dropped,
Eliminating problems encountered with lids known in the prior that occur when opening/closing food packages,
Ensuring confidence in the consumer, by employing multiple locks on the food packaging, that the lock has not been opened, such that if one lock is broken or torn off, for whatever reason, the others remain intact,
Ensuring ease of transport of food without damage to the product with the lid locking mechanism of the food packaging,
Developing a package that can interlock when not in use, made possible due to the package's geometric shape.

A detailed description of the invention
The food packaging provided by the invention comprises the following main elements:
Container (2),
Lid (3),
Lid locking tab (4),
Slot (5),
Tearable regions (for tearing off the lid) (6),
And the opening ring (7).
The invention relates to food packaging (1) comprising a breakable lid mechanism. The food packaging (1) is closed by interlocking the lid locking tab (4) located on the sides of the lid (3) and the slots (5) located on the upper edges of the container (2). The size of the package locking tabs (4) will vary depending on the product being designed. These are connected by means of thin connections. Thus, the lid (3) is stably fixed and closed. The breakable connections are created inside the mold during the manufacture of the lid. Re-locking is ensured when the connections disposed on the lid are attached to the packaging. The lid is opened by severing it from these thin connections.
To open, the container (2) and the lid (3) is gripped by the opening ring (7) and the lid (3) is thus separated from the food packaging (1) by breaking it off at the tearable region (for tearing off the lid) (6). The lid (3) cannot be separated from the food packaging (1) without breaking the tearable region (for tearing off the lid). During the tearing process, which is carried out to open the food packaging, (1) the pieces that are separated from the lid (3) remain inside the slots (5) located on the food packaging (1). Thus, the consumer is given the assurance that they are the first person to open the food packaging (1) and the risk of any contamination with foreign materials is averted. Furthermore, the packaging (1) and the lid (3) may be reattached together as often as desired after the tearing process. In the event that the product is not consumed in full, the lid (3) may be shut, thereby preventing the influx of air and the product may be put aside for later use. Since the food packaging (1) and the lid (3) are produced from the same raw materials they are easily recyclable.
The most important aspect of the food packaging (1) of the present invention is the locking system. The tearable regions (for tearing off the lid) (6) positioned on the upper edges of the container (2) and the tabs (5) are present in at least three pairs on the extended edges and in at least two pairs on the short edges. At least one lid locking tab (4) positioned on the lid (3) is present on the extended edge and at least one is present on the short edge. The number of these elements may vary depending on the product design.
The lid locking mechanism, wherein the locking tab (4) introduced into the slot is thereby fixed in place to keep the lid (3) in the locked position to protect it against physical impact or other elements encountered during transport, storage, placement and shelving.
Furthermore, fixing of the lid (3) to the container (2) via multiple locking tabs (4) prevents entrance into the food packaging (1) of other elements and odors from the outside, even when the product inside the food packaging (1) is partially consumed.
The lid of the present invention is manufactured using a variety of raw materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene and polystyrene.
Claims
1. A breakable locking lid mechanism provided to protect food packages (1) against physical impact and various other elements during transport, storage, placement and shelving, characterized in that it comprises the following:
Container (2),
Lid (3),
Lid locking tab (4),
- Slot (5),
Tearable regions (for tearing off the lid) (6), and
An opening ring (7)
2. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 1, wherein at least one lid locking tab (4) is present on the extended edge and at least one lid locking tab is present on the short edge.
3. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 2, wherein at least three lid locking tabs (4) are present on the extended edge and at least two locking tabs are present on the short edge.
4. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 1, wherein at least one tearable region (for tearing off the lid) (6) disposed on the upper edges of the container (2) is positioned on the extended edges and at least one is positioned on the short edges.
5. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 4, wherein at least three tearable regions (for tearing off the lid) (6) disposed on the upper edges of the container (2) are positioned on the extended edges and at least three are positioned on the short edges.
6. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 1, wherein at least one slot (5) disposed on the upper edges of the container (2) is positioned on the extended edges and at least one is positioned on the short edges.
7. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 6, wherein at least three slots (5) disposed on the upper edges of the container (2) are positioned on the extended edges and at least three are positioned on the short edges.
8. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 1, wherein any geometric shape can be applied to the lid.
9. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 8, wherein the invention is applicable to rectangular lids.
10. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 8, wherein the invention is applicable to circular lids.
11. The breakable locking lid mechanism of claim 1, wherein the invention can be manufactured from polypropylene, polyethylene or polystyrene.
