Description

REPOSITION ABLE FUNCTIONAL ARCH SUPPORT FOR FOOTWEAR
DESCRIPTION
The present patent concerns footwear, and in particular it concerns a new repositionable arch support with detection device, especially for shoes for kids, physically or mentally disabled persons, the elderly, specific sports shoes or work shoes.
The problem of locating people who got lost is known. This happens very often and easily with children and kids, especially in crowded places, where even the slightest distraction of the kid or the person accompanying him/her may cause the kid to move outside the field of view of the adult and get lost.
Given that children are short, it is then difficult to spot them in the crowd.
The same may happen to mentally disabled people, for example elderly people, or physically disabled people, for example short-sighted people, who may lose their way and not be able to recognize the place where they are.
Similar episodes may happen during excursions, for example in the mountains or other places where it is easier to get disorientated or where accidents preventing someone from returning are more likely to occur.
Portable devices provided with a GPS module are known, which are suited to be used to locate people who got lost or who must be located and rescued following accidents, and are also suited to detect their coordinates via satellite, said portable devices being also provided with a wireless communication module capable of communicating the data regarding position to a given terminal, continuously or only when interrogated.
Said devices, for example, are mounted on small-sized portable equipment such as phones, handheld devices, etc., which can be put in a bag or a pocket. Said devices can in turn be forgotten or lost, or they may break if they fall down, which would make them completely useless.
Location devices are known, which comprise a device suited to answer to special signals, said devices being, for example, installed in sports jackets used especially by skiers or explorers who go on expeditions in dangerous places.
In the cases where a person may possibly have got lost, it is necessary to fly over the area where he/she may have got lost using a signal emitting device and looking for a return signal emitted by said detection device.
Shoes are known that are provided with an integrated position detection device, said device being for example fixed to the sole or upper of the shoe, in such a way as to avoid the risk of the user losing the device itself.
The position detection device comprises a GPS positioning module and a wireless communication module.
Shoes are known in which the device is installed in the upper and comprises also luminous signallers, for example positioned on the front of the shoe and suited to show the way to follow to reach a given destination.
Shoes are known that are provided with a wireless communication device suited to communicate with a portable electronic device, like for example a smartphone, in turn provided with a GPS device and instruments and programs suited to supply data on the physical conditions of the user, on the training plan and the performance of the user.
Said devices are integrated with the shoe and are not removable, therefore it is necessary to use always the same specific shoes. Therefore, any shoes provided with a position detection device, of the type suited to be used every day, for example walking shoes or work shoes, cannot be used to go trekking in the mountains, to practice sports, etc..
Furthermore, in the case of kids footwear, it is important to consider that kids grow up very quickly, especially in their first years, and therefore they need new shoes even every 2-3 months or at each change of season, with the consequent costs.
The subject of the present invention is a new type of arch support or "fussbett" provided with a position detection device, suited to be used on any type of footwear and suited to be repositioned on different shoes.
The main object of the present invention is to provide an arch support that can be inserted in any kind of footwear of the known type in order to guarantee that the position of the user can be located at any time.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an arch support that can be repositioned and therefore reused on several different shoes by simply extracting it from a shoe and inserting it into another shoe.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide an arch support that can be used also in kids footwear of different sizes, with a tolerance of a few sizes, and that therefore can be used for a long time, as the kid grows up, or in shoes of different kids.
An advantage offered by the present invention lies in that the position detection device is protected from impacts and from any contact with water, mud or other substances, as it is integrated with the arch support.
The new arch support is particularly suited to be used in footwear for kids, elderly people, physically or mentally disabled people, or in any case in the shoes of users who run the risk of getting lost, therefore also on shoes for sports, excursions, etc. The new arch support can also be used in orthopaedic footwear.
These and other direct and complementary objects are achieved by the new type of repositionable arch support suited to be inserted in any kind of footwear, made of a suitable material, for example polymers or composite materials, and comprising, for example buried within the thickness of the arch support or inserted in a special recess or pocket provided in the arch support itself, at least one position detection device, in turn comprising at least one GPS module suited to detect the spatial coordinates, meaning the position of the device itself, at least one communication module suited to communicate said coordinates to at least one remote terminal unit, meaning an external terminal unit, even located far away, and at least one power supply module suited to feed the device.
In the preferred solution, said communication module is suited to communicate said coordinates continuously, meaning with a high frequency, to at least one remote terminal unit.
Said arch support is suited to be inserted in any kind of shoe, especially for sports, walking, trekking, excursions or for other specific uses depending on special needs, like for example orthopaedic shoes.
The present invention is particularly suited to be used in the shoes of kids, who run a higher risk of getting lost or whose movements need to be continuously monitored by parents or accompanying persons.
The present invention is also particularly suited to be used in footwear, shoes or boots for specific purposes: sports, excursions, skiing, explorations, etc.
The new arch support can be inserted and therefore reused indefinitely in any type of shoes worn by kids, be they walking shoes, trainers, mountain shoes, trekking shoes, etc.
Furthermore, the new arch support can be used also in shoes of different sizes, with a tolerance of 2-4 sizes, and therefore can also be reused during consecutive seasons, on different shoes, depending on the kid's growth, or on the shoes of different users.
The characteristics of the new arch support will be highlighted in greater detail in the following description with reference to the attached drawing that is enclosed by way of non-limiting example.
Figure 1 shows a plan view of the new arch support (1), while Figure 1 A-A shows a sectional view along line A-A indicated in Figure 1.
The new arch support (1) is made of a composite or non-composite material, polymeric or natural, and in any case suited to be used to make arch supports for shoes of the following types: common shoes, walking shoes, sports shoes in general, trekking shoes, work shoes, orthopaedic shoes, or other types of shoes. The new arch support (1) is usually shaped according to the type of user, that is, of the foot anatomy, for example, its shape can be different depending on whether the user is a kid, an elderly person, a person with orthopaedic problems, a physically disabled person, or another type of person.
In the example shown in the figures, the new arch support (1) or "fussbett" comprises at least one position detection device (2) integrated or in any case integral with the arch support (1).
In the example, said device (2) is inserted within the thickness of the arch support (1), for example in the area (1 1) corresponding to the foot arch, in a recess (12) that, for example, is obtained in the underside of the arch support (1).
According to the invention, the device (2) can be constrained into said recess (12) in the arch support, for example by means of glue or however by applying an additional underlying closing layer.
According to the invention said additional closing layer, if provided, may comprise at least one opening, for example intended to ensure access to said device (2) or to allow the device (2) to be extracted.
In the preferred solution, said recess (12) can be sealed, in such a way as to protect the device (2) from the penetration of water, dirt, etc.
According to the invention, the device (2) may also be inserted in a recess located in other positions in the arch support or it may even be completely buried into the material with which the arch support (1) is made.
Said device (2) comprises at least one GPS module, at least one communication module and at least one power supply module.
Said power supply module can in turn comprise a battery, replaceable or rechargeable through a connection with special recharge connectors.
In the preferred solution, with the device (2) completely sealed in said recess (12) in the arch support (1), said recharge module uses the dissipated energy, for example it exploits the mechanical vibrations due to the movements performed by the user while he/she walks or runs, in order to generate electric energy that can be used to feed the device and/or charge/recharge one or more batteries.
As an alternative, according to the invention said recharge module can also use, instead, the thermal energy produced by the user, deriving from the contact with the foot, to generate an electric current that can be used to feed the device and/or charge/recharge one or more batteries.
These are the schematic outlines that can suffice to an expert in the field to implement the invention, consequently, in the construction stage changes can be made that do not affect the substance of the innovative concept disclosed herein. Therefore, with reference to the above description and the attached drawings, the following claims are expressed.
