It is pointed out that, although the front section of the hull has a relatively small waterline surface, and thus the capacity for carrying cargo at said front section per se is limited, this is compensated by the reduced draft at the aft section. In this way, imbalance is avoided.
- a further advantage of the hull shape is that it allows a relatively high speed of the ship. In comparison to prior art ships, such as mining vessels, the hull has a relatively low resistance. In combination with the sharp, rectangular bow, which cuts through the waves, this makes it possible to travel faster.

Abstract
L'invention concerne un navire qui comprend une coque (10) ayant une section avant (8) qui comprend une proue (6), une section arrière (9) qui comprend une poupe (7), des parois latérales (2, 3) qui s'étendent entre la proue et la poupe, un fond (11, 12) reliant le bord inférieur des parois latérales et un pont (5) reliant le bord supérieur des parois latérales. La section avant de ladite coque définit un tirant d'eau principal qui est généralement constant sur au moins une partie de la direction longitudinale de la section avant. Afin de fournir une plate-forme stable pour effectuer des opérations en mer, la ligne de flottaison de la coque (1) a une forme triangulaire dont la partie supérieure, qui est située au niveau ou près de la proue (6) et la section arrière (9) de la coque (1), comprend un tirant d'eau réduit.
