Abstract

An electro-mechanically assisted drum-striking apparatus includes a signal generator, an actuator assembly and a computer environment which stores a plurality of predetermined algorithms corresponding to different drum-striking sequences. A user interface in electronic communication with the computer environment includes at least one selector configured to select a first algorithm and then transmit the selection to the computer environment, which in turn instructs the actuator assembly to execute a first drum-striking sequence corresponding to the first algorithm. A second algorithm can be selected to initiate an on-the-fly tempo-change, the receipt of which commands the actuator assembly to cease the first drum-striking sequence and execute a second drum-striking sequence.
