Abstract

The TOI-BLANKET is a toilet foil wherewith the user can fully separate himself from a toilet during use to prevent physical contact. The equipment consists of four main parts: • Part 1 : a seat surface, • Part 2: an outer apron that covers a front of a bowl and is connected to the seat surface, • Part 3: an inner apron that prevents inside contact and is also connected to the seat surface, • Part 4: a "fixing mechanism" that is a folding-back mechanism, which can be hooked on a lower frontal portion of a bowl and under a back of a toilet seat. In an alternative, the fixing mechanism is an adhesive line, which is on the back side of the seat surface in order to fix the foil to a toilet. The whole foil is made of plastic which melts fully in water after use. The toilet foil TOI-BLANKET is compact as a finished product when it is folded and packed, so that it can be easily sold from vending machines.

Description

TOILET FOIL
Product description
We all have seen pub lic toilets in an objectionable state. We have tried all kinds of methods to clean, sanitize the seat befoie getting into physical contact with it. Several ideas have been proposed to fix this problem. Those who come prepared carry wet wipes with themselves, others wipe the seat with toilet paper, or possibly cover it with toilet paper, to avoid the undesirable infection hazard. It was during such a necessary sanitization that I realized the need for a throw-away, one-time accessory that would fix this problem. The expectations were defined and the concept of TOl- BLANKET was born
The first step was definition of the needs, what exactly should we expect from a product of this kind?
- one size fits all
- sterile, safe protective foil
- coverage of the entice seat surface,
- secured against displacement,
- ease of use,
- minimal space requirement
- water-proof packaging
- affordable price
The definition of needs was followed by actual implementation. Work started on designing the form and size of the product, so that it is usable on the seat surface of every toilet, in such a manner that one can place and remsove the foil by one motion of the hand. When designing the product, we placed a rubber strip on its outer edge, to prevent displacement
Figure imgf000002_0001
using the foil, ensuring sterility all the time. Simultaneously, work started on the selection and testing of the materials. Here we took care to choose components that are easy to procure and ensure a good price to value ratio.
The product is made of a very thin, but resilient PET foil and a polyamid elastoden thread, attached by adhesive or some o"her way.
We also took care to ensure that the packed finished product should take up a minimum space.
The folded size of the blanket foil does not exceed the size of a regular condom, thus in a similar package it can be easily sold from vending machines. A globally unique tcilet blanket ensuring 100% separation. The products consists of four main parts calibrated with such, accuracy that ensures the placement of the blanket on any toilet seat fast and preventing displacement.
1. The internal protective apron keeps the person sitting on the toilet from touching its inside and prevents contact with the infectious surface.
2. seat surface
3. exterior stretcher apron - prevents contact with the toilet from the outside, stiffens the seat surface in a circular manner.
4. stiffening rubber fiber - keeps the foil in place, hooked under the edge of the seat on the back and led on the lower part of the bowl on the front.
5. The coloured positioner strip placed on the seat surface helps the user with the perfect placement of the foil. (The seat surface is an interesting advertising space in itself, which may be related to the appearance of the external packaging).
In the regular version it can be used in any restroom here contact with the toilet is not desirable (public restrooms of movie theaters, department stores, hotels). The special sterile version can be very useful in hospitals and medical facilities.
It may be sold in sets of several pieces, in the hygienic departments of stores or in vending machines placed in restrooms.
According to our calculations, the production cost of I packed TOI- BLANKET is 2.2 to 2.4 (euro) cents, assuming an afpropriate automated production line and average material prices. Definition of the retail price requires appropriate market research and may be different from country to country. Based on our poll taken in Hungary on a sample of 200 persons, every third person indicated their certain buying intention. (73% women and 27% men). As an acceptable price they indicated an amount equalling 18 lo 22 (euro) cents on average. Therefore, according to preliminary calculations, a profit margin of 1000% can be anticipated.
Compared to its minimal production cost, TOI-BLANKET® provides maximum safety when using a toilet outside of our heme, which makes this simple idea truly revolutionary.
