Abstract

The present invention is basically related to a system (1) for providing real time and historical analysis of the location, activity and subscriber related bulk data for the whole mobile subscriber range of a mobile network. The said system (1) comprises monitoring node (2) which monitors the whole signaling among BSS (B), MSC (M), SGSN (S) and VLR (V), location intelligence platform (3) and in location intelligence platform (3), memory cache (31), network file processor (32), socket analyzer (33), snapshot files memory (34), analytics module (35) and snapshot files processor (36).

Description

A SYSTEM FOR LOCATION, ACTIVITY AND SUBSCRIBER DATA ANALYSIS IN MOBILE NETWORKS
Technical Field
The present invention is basically related to a system for providing real time and historical analysis of the location, activity and subscriber related bulk data for the whole mobile subscriber range of a mobile network. Background of the Invention
Mobile network operators provide many services to their subscribers including voice call, short messaging and data services. In addition to these basic services, one of the very important services for mobile operators in terms of making revenue is location and activity based services. Therefore it is highly crucial for a mobile operator to obtain and analyze location and activity data of subscribers efficiently and instantly.
Location and activity based services are generally provided to individual subscribers by querying active network nodes. Querying active network nodes generate signaling over network. Especially when the number of subscribers for whom the location and activity data will be queried increases, signaling generated over network is excessive. Another problem that occurs when the number of subscribers for whom the location and activity data will be queried increases is the huge amount of data to be analyzed. In such cases, mobile operators need to set up and maintain many different nodes to analyze said data. The problem gets bigger when it is required to analyze said data in real time manner which would bring business opportunities to mobile operators when location and activity based services are considered. To overcome said problems, a solution which monitors network nodes for location and activity data of subscribers without disturbing said nodes, provides a real time cache to hold all the activity of the mobile subscribers in a mobile network, and analyzes any change in real time and act as enabler to response all the location based queries for a single or a volume of subscribers depending on activity types and time, is needed.
In state of the art, there are some solutions such as call detail record investigation to analyze the location and activity data of subscribers. But these solutions have many drawbacks such as not allowing real time analysis and not efficient analysis for big data.
The United States patent document no. US 8391836, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system for analyzing call detail records to derive demographic data is provided. The system comprises a processor, a memory, and an application stored in the memory. When executed by the processor, the application analyzes call detail records associated with a base transceiver station to determine statistical information about the subscriber calls within the coverage area and to estimate demographics of people within the coverage area.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to provide a real time and historical analysis of the location, activity and subscriber related bulk data for the whole mobile subscriber range of a mobile network.
Description of the Invention "A System for Location and Activity Analysis in Mobile Networks" realized to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is shown in the figures attached, in which: Figure 1 is a schematic block diagram of the inventive system.
The components illustrated in the figures are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:

at least one monitoring node (2) which monitors the whole signaling among BSS (B), MSC (M), SGSN (S) and VLR (V) and processes monitored signaling in real time manner to produce data files that includes information related to subscriber, activity of subscriber, location and mobile station,
at least one location intelligence platform (3) which receives the data files produced by monitoring node (2) and use that data files to conduct real time and/or historical analysis of location and activities of subscriber according to the request of requester (R) received through a socket interface,
at least one memory cache (31) which is included in location intelligence platform (3), stores real-time data that is monitored by monitoring node (2) and transmitted to location intelligence platform (3), and dump said data into a snapshot file periodically,
at least one network file processor (32) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and responsible for the transfer of data files produced by monitoring node (2) in real-time manner from that node (2) to memory cache (31) as ready to use data,
at least one socket analyzer (33) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and behaves as an interface of the memory cache (31) to requesters (R),
at least one snapshot files memory (34) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and stores the snapshot files which are dumped by memory cache (31) periodically,
at least one analytics module (35) which is included in location intelligence platform (3), receives analysis requests from requesters (R), searches through snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34) to find the file related to request, runs analysis over data gathered from snapshot files and returns analysis result to requester (R),
at least one snapshot file processor (36) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and responsible for the transfer of data in snapshot files from snapshot files memory (34) to analytics module (35) as ready to use data (Figure 1). Monitoring node (2) is the component which monitors the whole signaling among BSS (B), MSC (M), SGSN (S) and VLR (V) and processes monitored signaling in real time manner to produce data files that includes information related to subscriber, activity of subscriber, location and mobile station of subscriber. Data files produced by monitoring node (2) include information flooding over the network nodes (B, M, S, V) about subscriber, location and activity. In preferred embodiment of the invention said information includes following: Subscriber Identity (SI), which is International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) that uniquely identifies a subscriber in a mobile network.
Activity Class (AC), which describes the activity of subscriber that can be data, voice, texting or location change etc.
Activity Time (AT), which represents the time that the activity occurred.
Location Information (LI) which is the location of the cell that mobile station of the subscriber has been served, where the many cells can be grouped in a single BSS (B). Any base station may have more than one cell depending on the antenna types deployed. So that LI, in practice, is the location of the base station that the mobile station of subscriber is connected.
User Equipment (UE) information that is the brand and model name of the mobile station that subscriber uses.
Monitoring node (2) feeds the memory cache (31) which is included in the location intelligence platform (3) over network file processor (32) with the data files containing information above. Data files produced by monitoring node (2) are raw data files.
Location intelligence platform (3) is the platform (3) which receives the data files produced by monitoring node (2) and use that data files to conduct real time and/or historical analysis of location and activities of subscriber according to the request of a requester (R) received through a socket interface.
Memory cache (31) is the memory which is included in location intelligence platform (3), stores real-time data that is monitored by monitoring node (2) and transmitted to location intelligence platform (3), and dump said data into a snapshot file to be stored in snapshot files memory (34) periodically.
Within memory cache (31), all the LI to SI list mapping and SI to LI mapping may be stored. Memory cache (31) can be checked for real time subscriber activity and location data queries by a requester (R) via socket analyzer (33). In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, memory cache (31) can be queried for a SI list which is a list of subscribers in a specific location and as a result of this query, memory cache (31) returns SI list which is a list of subscribers in a specific location as. In another exemplary embodiment of the invention, memory cache can be queried for the real time LI of an individual subscriber or a group of subscribers or the whole network subscribers, by requester (R) which provides SI or an SI list to socket analyzer (33) through a socket interface. Network file processor (32) is the unit which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and responsible for the transfer of data files produced by monitoring node (2) in real-time manner from that node (2) to memory cache (31) as ready to use data. Socket analyzer (33) is the unit which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and behaves as an interface of the memory cache (31) to requesters (R).
Socket analyzer (33) is the unit which receives request of a requester (R) through a socket interface, understands the type of request, acquires the required data from memory cache (31) and transmits acquired data to requester (R) over socket interface. In embodiments of the invention, acquired data may be the real time or near real time LI and/or AC filtered by subscriber profile (age, income, work type etc.) and/or UE and/or AT.
Snapshot files memory (34) which is included in location intelligence platform (3), stores the snapshot files which are dumped by memory cache (31) periodically. Snapshot files include all the LI to SI list mapping and SI to LI mapping as historical data which is dumped by memory cache (31).
Snapshot files memory (34) can be used to obtain the last generated snapshot file to use as network data when location intelligence platform (3) crashes for any reason and real time data stored in memory cache (31) is deleted. Snapshot files memory (34) stores snapshot files which are used for analysis corresponding to the analysis requests sent from requesters (R) to analytics module (35). Said snapshot files can be used for historical trend analysis and also data ware house like applications and solutions as well. The snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34) generally contain distinct subscriber data with location information. There may be several types of snapshot files stored in snapshot files memory (34). One of them may hold location information to subscriber count mapping that is the count of subscribers or roamers within a given location. The other one may be a snapshot file where the location information is written in the file name and SI is the content. Snapshot files memory (34) stores the snapshot files which are coordinated in an indexed manner so as to make the file search of analytics module (35) on snapshot files memory (34) easy and quick.
Analytics module (35) is the module which is included in location intelligence platform (3), receives analysis requests from requesters (R), searches through snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34) to find the file related to request, runs analysis over data gathered from snapshot files and returns analysis result to requester (R).
Analytics module (35) is the module which is a run-per-request module and runs analytics algorithms related to the request from requesters (R). For any request from requester (R), analytics module (35) searches through snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34) and determines the folders and files that is to be opened, read and processed. After receiving data of snapshot file via snapshot file processor (36), analytics module (35) conducts analysis over data and returns result to requester (R). In some embodiments of the invention, analytics module (35) may use external databases for both analysis and representation of analysis result such as Geo Map database and/or any system database.
In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, request from requester (R) may be a subscriber density request which includes a list LI or an indication of whole network. When such a request is received by analytics module (35) over a socket interface, module (35) firstly analyses the requested time range and determines the files which includes data it (35) needs by a search through snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34). Snapshot file processor (36) transmits data of determined snapshot file to analytics module (35) and analytics module (35) conduct analysis and returns analysis result to requester (R) over socket interface. In another exemplary embodiment of the invention, request from requester (R) may also contain a SI list in addition to any other information. In such a case, analytics module runs analytics algorithms only over the mentioned SI list. Snapshot file processor (36) is the unit which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and responsible for the transfer of data in snapshot files from snapshot files memory (34) to analytics module (35) as ready to use data.
In different exemplary embodiments of the invention, system (1) can be used for following cases:
Real or near real time information/location gathering: Without disturbing mobile network resources via generating core network location queries to network nodes, it is possible to query the LI of the subscriber in real time via storing the LI of the each subscriber in memory cache (31) with the participation of the other important parameters.
The LI of many subscribers can be queried in parallel so that many user applications that behave as requesters (R) and need a rapid response to bulk location queries can be handled easily. Location based bulk advertisement notifications is an example usage of this functionality.
Data extraction for a given location: In many cases the data at a given location may be required. For mobile operators, one of the most valuable data in a given location is the SI. There are some other complementary data such as segment, age, UE type. Basically, a user application or a service which behaves as requester (R) may require the list of SI in a given LI so that special services for the subscribers can be served at that LI. Home zone analysis of subscribers: Many of the mobile operators provide Home Zone services for their subscribers. Some of said services are the low cost voice, data or text usage in a determined LI. After analyzing the LI of a subscriber for a determined duration via analytics module (35) and snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34), the result LI may be considered as a Home Zone and then the subscriber can be informed to confirm that the location is the home zone of that subscriber.
Movement analysis: Mobile operators may provide movement analysis capabilities to transportation, airline or local service companies. It is possible to give the movement of a subscriber precisely to any requester (R). For example, the list of SI that flies from city A to city B within a determined time interval can be provided by analytics module (35) to an airline company which behaves as requester (R).
Density analysis: Any distribution information can be provided for a determined time range by analytics module (35) for the whole covered country. This information can be provided very rapidly to the requester (R) as it is possible to store the number of subscribers served in a given LI for a given time period in memory cache (31) or snapshot files memory (34).
Geo-fencing: It is possible to give a trigger and take the required action for subscriber groups that enters into a given location or already exists in that location.
It is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive system (1), it cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.

Claims

1. A system (1) which enables location, activity and subscriber data analysis in mobile networks comprising
- at least one monitoring node (2) which monitors the whole signaling among BSS (B), MSC (M), SGSN (S) and VLR (V) and processes monitored signaling in real time manner to produce data files that includes information related to subscriber, activity of subscriber, location and mobile station,
- at least one location intelligence platform (3) which receives the data files produced by monitoring node (2) and use that data files to conduct real time and/or historical analysis of location and activities of subscriber according to the request of requester (R) received through a socket interface,
- at least one memory cache (31) which is included in location intelligence platform (3), stores real-time data that is monitored by monitoring node (2) and transmitted to location intelligence platform (3),
at least one network file processor (32) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and responsible for the transfer of data files produced by monitoring node (2) in real-time manner from that node (2) to memory cache (31) as ready to use data,
at least one socket analyzer (33) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and behaves as an interface of the memory cache (31) to requesters (R),
at least one snapshot files memory (34) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and stores the snapshot files,
at least one analytics module (35) which runs analysis over data gathered from snapshot files (R), at least one snapshot file processor (36) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and responsible for the transfer of data in snapshot files from snapshot files memory (34) to analytics module (35) as ready to use data and characterized by
at least one memory cache (31) which is included in location intelligence platform (3), stores real-time data that is monitored by monitoring node (2) and transmitted to location intelligence platform (3), and dump said data into a snapshot file periodically
at least one snapshot files memory (34) which is included in location intelligence platform (3) and stores the snapshot files which are dumped by memory cache (31) periodically,
at least one analytics module (35) which is included in location intelligence platform (3), receives analysis requests from requesters (R), searches through snapshot files in snapshot files memory (34) to find the file related to request, runs analysis over data gathered from snapshot files and returns analysis result to requester (R).
A system (1) according to Claim 1, characterized by monitoring node (2) which produces data files that include information flooding over the network nodes (B, M, S, V) about subscriber, location and activity.
A system (1) according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized by monitoring node (2) which produces data files that include following information: Subscriber Identity (SI), Activity Class (AC), Activity Time (AT), Location Information (LI) User Equipment (UE) information
A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by monitoring node (2) which feeds the memory cache (31) which is included in the location intelligence platform (3) over network file processor (32) with the data files.
5. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by memory cache (31) which stores all the LI to SI list mapping and SI to LI mapping.
6. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by memory cache (31) which can be checked for real time subscriber activity and location data queries by a requester (R) via socket analyzer (33).
A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by socket analyzer (33) which receives request of a requester (R) through a socket interface, understands the type of request, acquires the required data from memory cache (31) and transmits acquired data to requester (R) over socket interface.
8. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by snapshot files memory (34) which stores the snapshot files that include all the LI to SI list mapping and SI to LI mapping as historical data.
9. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by snapshot files memory (34) which stores last generated snapshot file to use as network data when location intelligence platform (3) crashes for any reason and real time data stored in memory cache (31) is deleted.
10. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by snapshot files memory (34) which stores snapshot files that are used for analysis corresponding to the analysis requests sent from requesters (R) to analytics module (35).
11. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by snapshot files memory (34) which stores snapshot files that contain distinct subscriber data with location information.
12. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by snapshot files memory (34) which stores the snapshot files that are coordinated in an indexed manner.
13. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by analytics module (35) which is a run-per-request module.
14. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by analytics module (35) which runs analytics algorithms related to the request from requesters (R).
15. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by analytics module (35) which conducts analysis after receiving data of snapshot file via snapshot file processor (36).
16. A system (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized by analytics module (35) which use external databases for both analysis and representation of analysis result such as Geo Map database and/or any system database.
