  • the hinged connections can include locking means. As shown in Figures 7, 8 and 9 the locking means is for locking the rear plate 2.1 , in position to the side plates 22, 2-3 to even further strengthen the rigid integrity of the assembled structure.
  • This can include tracks 45 and 46 on inner rear side of side plates 22, 23 that hold either end of a handled rod 45 that extends between the two side panels 22, 23.
  • the locking can be due to a cam structure or corresponding track and rod on inner side of rear plate 21 or end connections of the handled rod 45 having entrapping U-shape fitting on both sides of the tear panel 21. Since the handled rod 45 begins travel as shown in Figure 7 at the height of the shallow U-shape section 25 it need not engage or entrap the rear plate 2.1 until that plate is swung into substantially vertical alignment. At that time the handled rod 45 and engaging or entrapping parts can follow down both sides of the rear plate and provide locking position at the base as shown in Figure 8.

  • connection means includes a hook 82 and slot 81 arrangement.
  • the rear plate 61 has two slots 81 aligned above each other located at each longitudinal side.
  • the slots 81 are elongated up the height of the rear plate 61 with a consistent rectangular shape.
  • the side plates 62 and 63 each have the other hook part of the connection means by including two squared shaped upward extending hooks 82 extending from the rear edge of one side of the substantially planar body of the plates 62 and 63 and being co-planar.
  • each of the planar side plates 62 and 63 having substantially planar body and having the connection means portion of the upper and lower two hooks extending from the rear edge can be inserted into respective upper and lower slots 81 at each side of the planar body of the rear wall 61.
  • the effectiveness of this join is created by the relative shape and relative location of the respective hooks and slots.
  • FIG. 14A and 14.B there is shown a detail of how the hook and slot arrangement can work so that the substantially planar elements of the side plates 62 and 63 and the rear plate 61 would interfit substantially without tools to form self-supporting sides and rear of the. camp fireplace 51.

  • the relative heights of the hook 82 of the one substantially planar element from its ground engaging edge is lower than the height of the receiving slots 81 or vice versa of the other substantially planar element from its ground engaging edge so that the one substantially planar element with hook is able to be shifted up or down relative to the other substantially planar element with the slot 1 and inserted therein, and be lifted or lowered such that the hook extends upwardly or downwardly respectively over the upper or lower edge respectively of the slot 81 and lock the two plates together without the use of tools.
