Description
DESCRIPTION
A GLASS CHANNEL Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to glass channel which is used in vehicle doors and which guides for the movable glass to move. Background of the Invention
There are glasses, for driver and users to see outer environment from inside of vehicle, in the vehicles. By means of these glasses, the people outside can see inside of vehicle and the people inside of vehicle can see outer environment easily. Some glasses in the vehicles can move and the others are produced as fixed. Generally the one on the side from these glasses are produced movable. The said glasses are lowered down inside the door with a motor when they are preferred to be opened, and they are raised with moving the motor in opposite direction when they are preferred to be closed. Around glass, there are frames which guide the glass during its upwards-downwards movement. The glass goes up and goes down again in these frames. Furthermore, there are seals in inner parts of the frames adjusted for the sizes of the frames.
There are a front panel and a rear panel in the glass guides used today. A glass channel metal is placed between these two panels. The seal is placed inside the glass channel metal. In designs that are realized in this way, a mold is also produced for the glass channel metal and the glass channel metal is manufactured by means of this mold. This situation brings out a significant cost. The glass channel metal has extra cost in total cost of the door. This situation causes the production to be realized in a more expensive way.
Turkish Patent Document no TR200602448, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a vehicle sliding glass arrangement which comprises a moving channel (2) formed in a profile, where the sliding glass (5) runs, a carved glass frame (3) bound to a fixed glass (1), a vehicle fixed glass (1), a moving slide (4) enabling movement of the sliding glass (5) in the said moving channel (2) bound to the said vehicle fixed glass (1).
Summary of the Invention The objective of the present invention is to provide a glass channel which is easily producible.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a glass channel which is producible without requiring extra frame.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A glass channel developed to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is the perspective view of the door on which the glass channel is located.
Figure 2 is the cross sectional view of the glass channel in the previous art. Figure 3 is the cross sectional view of the glass channel without seal. Figure 4 is a cross sectional view of the glass channel.
The components shown in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows: 1. Glass channel
2. Outer panel
3. Slot
4. Inner panel
5. Protrusion
6. Outer panel groove
7. Inner panel groove
8. Seal
C. Glass
The glass channel (1) which is used in vehicle doors and guides for the movable glass to move essentially comprises
at least one outer panel (2) which is located fixed on one side of the vehicle door,
at least one slot (3) which is located at one end of the outer panel (2) and in which the protrusion (5) located on the inner panel (4) on the other side of the door fits,
at least one outer panel groove (6) which is formed on the outer panel (2) so that the glass (C) fits into,
at least one inner panel groove (7) which is formed on the inner panel (4) so that the glass (C) fits into,
- at least one seal (8) which is present in the opening formed by the outer panel groove (6) and the inner panel groove (7) and which is for the glass (C) to fit into a soft ground.
In one embodiment of the invention, the outer panel (2) and the inner panel (4) are mounted on the inner part of the door. There is a slot (3) present at the end of the outer panel (2). The protrusion (5) on the inner panel (4) contacts the said slot (3) on the outer panel (2). There is an outer panel groove (6) on the outer panel (2) and there is an inner panel groove (7) on the inner panel (4). When the outer panel (2) and the inner panel (4) are connected to each other via the protrusion (5) and the slot (3), the outer panel groove (6) and the inner panel groove (7) forms an opening having U shape. The seal (8) is placed into the said U shape formed by
the outer panel groove (6) and the inner panel groove (7). The seal (8) enables the glass (C) to be preserved in a soft medium. By means of placing the seal (8) into the opening formed by the outer panel groove (6) and the inner panel groove (7), the glass (C) is preserved in a soft medium and does not directly contact the outer panel (2) and the inner panel (4). By this means, heat leakage and air intake is prevented while the glass (C) is completely closed.
Using glass channel (1) is realized as follows: The outer panel (2) and the inner panel (4) are combined by means of the protrusion (5) and the slot (3). The seal (8) is placed in to the opening formed by the outer panel groove (6) and the inner panel groove (7) when the outer panel (2) and the inner panel (4) are connected to each other. Then the "glass (C) is fitted into the said seal (8).
