Abstract

A timber-working device, including a frame (24) having a feed axis (34), and a drive system configured to position a first stem (300) on a first side of the feed axis (34), and a second stem (302) on a second side of the feed axis (34). The timber-working device includes a first end sensor (42) having a first sensing region extending into the first side of the feed axis (34), and configured to output a signal indicative of the presence of an end of the first stem (300) within the first sensing region. The timber-working device includes a second end sensor (42) having a second sensing region extending into the second side of the feed axis (34), and configured to output a signal indicative of the presence of an end of the second stem (302) within the second sensing region.
