  • the present invention provides for a computer based system and method for tracking and locating a configurable device which sends and receives alerts from a Central Monitoring and Maintenance Server which monitors the user/ device during normal and emergency situations and enables the user to get help quickly in a variety of emergency situations.   • the pair of reprogrammable synchronous triggers (6,7) located on the device (11U) are placed in such a manner that the device is triggered to emergency mode on only when the user who knows how to trigger using the programmable mechanism presses the pair of reprogrammable synchronous triggers either simultaneously or consecutively depending upon the customization of the device.
  • the pair of such reprogrammable synchronous triggers (6,7) may be placed diagonally opposite on a device (11U) and the device may be triggered by pressing the programmed triggers such as to perform the triggering function whereby the first button has to be pressed for two seconds, followed by the second button alone for two seconds followed by pressing both buttons together for two seconds.
  • the present invention provides a system and method wherein the device (11U) works together with the CMMS (27) as depicted in Figure 3 for ensuring immediate help where the user is in an adverse, dangerous, or abnormal situation.
  • the device (11U) is so configured to interconnect with the CMMS (27) and first responder (26R), etc.
  • the device (11U) is capable of being triggered by at least one event selected from pressing of device reprogrammable synchronous triggers (buttons), voice activation, auto sensing based on the human pulse activity or human emotion, visual identification of dangerous events such as unusual sound patterns, unusual or distinct images or videos using the sensors (8) on the device (11U) such as the camera, microphone, etc.
  • the device (11U) sends alerts which can be tracked and geo-located through the CMMS (27), thereby ensuring immediate help to the afflicted user (28).
  • the CMMS (27) on receiving information from the device (11U) of the user (28) issues an alert to the emergency contact(s) (29), auxiliary services (31) and other configured agencies (33).
  • the present invention may use at least one means of communication selected from 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE, GPRS, GPS, cellular, satellite, wifi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth lite and RFID based communication, for communication among the device (11U), other similar devices and the CMMS (27).
  • the system in the present invention requires the user (28) to first register user's personal information with the CMMS (27) by providing personal details and information relating to any emergency contact(s) (29) who must be contacted during different types of emergencies, distress etc.
  • the system may then send username and one time password to all the registered contacts of the user (28), with the help of which they could join in a conference call and/ or login to the web based portal to get more information about the current situation of the user (28) depending on the designated emergency type.
  • the present invention can operate in a variety of modes, including but not limited to default and emergency mode.
  • default mode the device (11U) acquires and sends information relating to device's health status, real time situational awareness, user geo-location and any other audio/ video information to said CMMS (27).
  • the CMMS (27) stores and analyzes all the information received from the user's device (11U) and transmits the information to the emergency contact(s) (29), auxiliary services (31) or other configured agencies (33) depending on the type of the situation.
  • the information can also be used for a variety of forensic and archival analyses such as building safety zones, based on the user's regular activity location.
  • the emergency mode of the system is activated when the device (11U) and the CMMS (27) detect a change in at least one event selected from voice patterns, including the unique distress sounds, words, wails, etc., press of a button, change in any gesture of the user and vital body parameters.
  • the system creates an alert and sends information relating to the identity of the registered user and the user's geo-location to the CMMS.
  • identity and location information can be obtained through cell phone towers, GPS and Wifi locations, depending on the indoor and outdoor scenarios and the availability of the signals.
  • the device (11U) has the capability to monitor the basic vital parameters of the human body and record and transmit the same to an analytical engine, while having the capability to trigger the emergency alert based on the change or abnormality in vital parameters. For instance, the device is capable of self-triggering based on the sudden variation in the pulse of the wearer of the device.
  • the system informs the user and emergency contact(s) and also helps the user in finding the critical information about auxiliary services such as nearest hospitals, fire stations and other emergency related information. The system feeds these crowd sourced information to the CMMS (27).
  • the device (11U) has the capability to identify the risky areas/ geo location by getting the feed from CMMS (27) which is crowd-sourced from the news and other web related portals and data and alerting the user as needed.
  • the device (11U) also has the capability to send geo-location information of the user using communication medium such as an SMS to multiple people at the same time without having to enter all the recipient information. Further the device (11U) also has the capability to have multiple mechanisms such as pre-authorization to disconnect where one needs to be authorized before disconnecting the device (11U), if the authorization is unsuccessful which may be when the device is removed from the user, the device may send an alert immediately.
  • the device (11U) is equipped with a protected lock mechanism, removing which in an unauthorized way will trigger an alert. This shall help in ensuring that if someone tries to remove the device, before the victim triggers it, the device will generate alert to the CMMS (27).
  • the CMMS (27) Once an alert is received by the CMMS (27) from the device (11U) the audio, video and images of said user's(s) surroundings are recorded and stored in the device and also transmitted to the CMMS (27) based on available bandwidth and signals.
  • the information so stored is erase protected, hence no one can alter or erase the information which is stored.
  • the basic vital parameters of the human body and are monitored, recorded and transmitted to the CMMS (27), while triggering the emergency alert based on the change or abnormality in vital parameters.
  • the device (11U) and CMMS (27) together initiate machine to machine communication so as to learn from the situational data, such that the user (28) is provided with immediate assistance in a situation of distress.
  • the device (11U) is also configured to perform voice and video calls with the CMMS from where it can be streamed in to one or more approved emergency contacts of the User.
  • the device also has the capability to record audio, video and images of the user's surroundings and store it in the device and also transmit the same based on the available bandwidth and signals to the CMMS.
  • the transmitted images, audio and video are also stored in the CMMS for forensic and archival analysis.
  • the device is also equipped with speakers which allow the first responders or volunteers to provide immediate help or suggestions through voice as well.
  • the device further has the capability to receive the call using the CMMS without needing any action by the end-user.
  • the device has the capability to have multiparty conference facility, without having to dial all the parties' numbers. These facilities potentially help to identify the situation, when the user of the device is not capable or is not in a position to operate the device.
  • the system also uses social networking platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, etc., in addition to the above-mentioned modes to alert the emergency contacts who have signed up and specified these configured agencies (33) as a communication mode, providing the incident and location information of the user.
  • the User may designate contacts to receive information on specific types or all types of emergencies.
  • the device in the system is capable of sending information to such social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, etc. about the emergency situational awareness, there by alerting the volunteers and other auxiliary services.
  • the system is capable of adopting such recourse with or without having the internet data plan of a network service provider.
  • the system with the CMMS and the device has the capability to use context awareness and alert the nearby users or volunteers about any incident, which results in faster response times.
  • the system also has the capability to customize the distance information, which may be used for sending alerts based on the location of the user.
  • the system has the capability to provide virtual and physical assistance functionality via the CMMS which can help to provide virtual assistance by means of audio and video streaming, in the case of a suspicious area or scenario which may deter any criminal activities.
  • the system is capable of automatically identifying the risky area using a scoring system which is based on the number and types of crimes which occurred in a specific location.
  • the device is also equipped with speakers which will allow the first responders or volunteers to provide immediate help or suggestions through voice as well.
  • the system can detect and create specific kinds of alerts designated to specific emergency contacts during fall events such as sudden falls, drowning, extreme temperatures, etc., using sensors.

  • the system can be alerted and video can be turned on by the CMMS which may be used to guide the user of the device.
  • CMMS also notifies specified emergency contacts in such a situation.
  • Geo-fencing the system also has the capability to automatically and manually configure the usual or safe path information. This is done to find out if the children/ elderly and other disabled citizens have moved away from their usual path.
  • the system also has the capability of remembering the location of the person, and provide alert when there is a deviation in the location or path. For instance, the system is capable of identifying whether a child who is going to school every day is deviated from his usual path, as in the case of abduction, the system can thus identify & alert without having to trigger the system.
  • the device has the capability to use a film or a wafer based battery or a super capacitor to reduce the weight of the battery.
  • the device is also capable of charging itself by harvesting energy from sources selected from at least one of piezo effect, solar, crank and other body energy sources.
  • the device also has the capability to detect any tampering which includes, change in the hardware, Software and SIM, and also removal/ forcible removal/ attempted destruction of the device. The device sends alerts and stores information about the tampering locally as well as in the CMMS.
  • the present invention employs a computer based system and method for tracking and locating a configurable device which sends and receives alerts and thereby can ensure the personal safety of a human in any situation.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé informatiques pour tracer et géolocaliser un dispositif portable configurable qui, à détection de situations risquées, dangereuses et anormales, envoie des alertes au CMMS pour porter immédiatement assistance à l'utilisateur. A réception d'informations du dispositif de l'utilisateur, le CMMS transmet une alerte aux numéros d'urgence, services d'urgence et autre agences configurées. Le système et le procédé sont basés sur un réseau informatique pour tracer et localiser une personne vulnérable victime d'une agression ou souffrant d'une affection physique ou mentale pouvant créer une alerte ou une alarme et obtenir de l'aide dans une telle situation.
