Abstract

Provided are a method for transmitting to a base station an Msg3 message for a user equipment in a communications environment based on machine-type communications. The method comprises the following steps: b. selecting from a backoff pattern a repetition cycle for the Msg3 message associated with the coverage gain required by the user equipment, the backoff pattern being used for the transmission of the Msg3 message and consisting of multiple consecutive repetition cycles, each reception cycle comprising multiple subframes; c. transmitting to the base station the Msg3 message on each subframe of the selected repetition cycle.
