Abstract

The invention relates to an expansion machine for driving a unit in a motor vehicle, comprising two expander turbines (T1, T2) to which vapor can be applied, wherein the shafts (W1, W2) of the two expander turbines are coupled to each other by means of a freewheel coupling (FW), wherein the first turbine (T1), which is associated with the smaller power, is arranged on the shaft (W1) from which the output power can be drawn, the shaft (W2) of the second turbine (T2) having the greater output power is connected to the first shaft (W1) by means of the freewheel coupling (FW), vapor can be applied to the two turbines (T1, T2) on the input side from an inlet (I), and the outlets of the turbines act on a common outlet (O), wherein an adjustable valve (V1) is arranged upstream of the turbine (T2) having the greater power.
