Abstract

TV users skiping advertisements on TV. Methods and apparatus are provided for providing advertisements in an advertisement providing apparatus. Advertising refers to changing channels on the TV. TV Equipment ask for commercials from video platform. Video platform requires advertising from the advertisements server on advertisements platform. advertisements platform finds the ad. Advertisements platform send advertisements to video platform. Video platform sends advertising on the user's TV.

Advertisements during TV shows do not require viewing with DVR equipement for TV. Lots of users skips ads. Ad skipping will become a lot more commonplace when number of DVR households increase from 40% now to 47% what is expected in 2015. The average TV viewer for an hour change the channel ( by statistics) 3.6 to 4.2 times. While the viewer changes the channel he watch TV . He is focused on TV .Every time when user change channel at the TV screen appears a banner with advertisement . Banner stays for some time and after that time disappears until the next change of channels.
In view of the above, the present invention provides a system and a method in a television advertisement and displaying advertisement on TV through the interface of any public tv broadcast provider (antenna, cable, IPTV,ATSC,Dish) or digital content distribution .
When TV viewer (end user) press a button on the remote control to change the channel on his TV will show advertisement.
User equipement at the moment ( when button for change channel is pressed on the remote control or on the interface for channel change ) send a request for change channel to own platform. Platform send request for advertisement to the advertisement platform . Advertisement platform answer with advertisement . TV platform receives advertisement. TV platform send advertisement to user TV through own interface.
The characteristic of the present invention lies in that: people change the chanel on tv every 15 minutes. That is large number for possible advertisement space. Advertising platform is possible to implement independently or integrate in CATV / MMDS / IPTV / DTH or other TV operator platform for distributing TV signal.
Figure 1 descibe the method for advertisement during channel change.
Figure 2 showing appearance on users TV.
Many companies are investing money in advertisements that will not be seen because of the ability to pause and rewind.
Methods ensure that advertising will be seen, as long as the user changing the channel certainly looking at TV.
Companies will invest in advertisements wich will be seen. It is great potential because of large number of switching channels. TV operators could make revenue from companies that advertise.

Claims (1)

  1. TV user press the button on the remote control or change the chanel on some other way. At that moment his equipement request channel cange and ad from own video platform. When video platform recives request for add , video platform send request to advertisement platform for new ad. Advertisement platform find ad in database . Advertisement platform send ad to video platform, video platform show advertisement on users TV throught own interface like on the image Figure1. Advertisement holds defined time and after that defined time disappears until next chanel change of channel .
    Advertisement platform could be stand alone platform or platform integrated in video platform.
