Abstract
A system for extending storage space in automatic high bay warehouses allows extension of the storage space in a high bay warehouse in such a manner that a row (1) of passive racks is added in front of a row (2) of active racks that are included between the active racks by means of an insertion mechanism arranged in one of the active racks.
Description
SYSTEM FOR EXTENDING STORAGE SPACE IN AUTOMATIC HIGH
BAY WAREHOUSES
The object of the invention is a system for extending storage space in automatic high bay warehouses. The systems provides for extension of storage space by an addition of a further row of passive racks to active racks and their simple insertion between the active racks. The invention belongs to class B065G01/02 of the International Patent Classification.
The technical problem which is successfully solved by the present invention is a system, in which storage space in automatic high bay warehouses is extended by insertion of passive racks which are added to active racks, and a mechanism for a simple insertion of the passive racks between the active racks.
Automatic high bay warehouses, in which the present system is applicable, are provided with a vertically movable rack system, where a desired rack can be selected by way of vertical movement of active racks. Active racks can move vertically in two rows by means of a chain drive or another type of drive; the selection can be computerised.
A disadvantage of this type of solution resides mostly in the fact that the number of racks is relatively limited mostly with respect to the available useful height of the entire high bay warehouse.
The system for extending storage space in automatic high bay warehouses of the invention allows a simple extension of applicable warehousing space by adding a row of passive racks.
In the system of the invention, a row of vertically arranged active racks is supplemented by a row of passive racks which can be included between the active racks by means of an insertion mechanism arranged in one of the active racks.
The system for extending storage space in automatic high bay warehouses allows extension of the storage space in a high bay warehouse in such a manner that a row of active racks is supplemented by a row of passive racks that are included between the active racks by means of an insertion mechanism arranged in one of the active racks.
The invention will be explained in more detail by way of an embodiment and through the use of the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a high bay warehouse in axonometric view;
Figure 2 shows a high bay warehouse in side cross-section;
Figure 3-7 shows functioning of a mechanism for inserting a passive rack between active racks;
Figure 8 shows details of the mechanism for inserting a passive rack.
Figures 1 and 2 show arrangement of a row 1 of passive racks next to a row 2 of active racks.
Figures 3-6 schematically illustrate inclusion of a passive rack 2a between the active racks by means of a mechanism 3.
The mechanism 3 which is shown in Figure 8 is composed of two transfer elements 4. Each transfer element 4 is provided with two wheels 5, 5' which are connected to each other by a chain 6, wherein one member of the chain 6 has a prolonged pin 7. A pair of elements 4 is provided at one side with two wheels 5' linked by a shaft 8. The shaft 8 is driven by a motor 9.
When the insertion mechanism 3 is activated, a rope 10 lowers the transfer elements 4, such that the pins 7, T lean against elements 11 provided on the transferring edge of a selected passive rack.
After the motor 9 is started, the passive rack is transferred by way of the elements 4 into the row 1 of active racks. For easier transfer, the passive racks may be equipped with rollers or similar structural elements that contribute to easier movement of the rack.
