Abstract

Instead of a slider, numerous switches are arranged adjacently to one another. In this manner, the operator can quickly, intuitively, and precisely adjust a value within a valid value range by pressing the corresponding switch. In contrast to a slider, the switches offer the advantage that the operator must not first move his hand, fingertip, or mouse pointer towards the slider handle, which can be located at a position different than the desired position. The adjustment of the value is significantly simplified and accelerated in that the operator must simply press on the desired switch. A step-like chart is applied directly onto the switch and shows the operator the valid value range within which the operator can directly adjust the value by actuating the respective switch. Considered as a whole, the step-like chart produces a wedge format presentation which is intuitively understandable to the operator.
