COVER OPENING PREVENTION APPARATUS FOR A VEHICLE’S TRAY
The present invention relates to cover opening prevention apparatus for a vehicle’s tray, and more particularly, to technology to prevent the lock status of a vehicle’s tray from being released and opened due to an external impact.
A tray of a vehicle is, in general, equipped with a housing that stores objects and a cover that opens and closes the front opening of the said housing, wherein the cover is configured to be able to rotate around, in order to open and close, the front opening of the housing.
Also, in general, a cover locking device is to be provided to the said cover that rotates for opening and closing for the purpose of securing the lock status of the cover.
It is important to steadfastly secure the said lock status of a cover to prevent objects from falling out of the housing, which may impair the safety of the passengers, when the cover is opened due to a collision while driving.
For example, Korean Registered Utility Model Publication No. 20-0440039 for a tray fixing structure for an automobile discloses, as a method to maintain the lock status of a tray as aforementioned by controlling the tray movement at a location inside the place to which the tray contacts, a locking device that is fitted, on a surface of the housing, with a heart cam equipped with a fixing pin protruding outwards and controls the heart cam movement by means of frictional resistance of an oil ring.
Technologies have been published as such to ameliorate the safety of such products which render a fixing pin, which serves as a locking unit, move along the trajectory of a heart cam when the cover is opened and closed and prohibit, by means of an oil ring, the displacement of the fixing pin placed in the heart cam even in case of an external impact.
However, in case that the oil ring, which provides a relevant damping effect, is damaged decreasing its fictional resistance, a usual impact while driving may release the lock status rendering the cover be open, which has been criticized as a drawback of those existing technologies aforementioned.

when a rotary 30 is engaged with and hinge-linked to a surface of a tray with a locking unit 40 is fastened to a surface of a tray cover as illustrated in Fig 5, rotation prevention pins 61 of a slider 60 are not to protrude, as illustrated in Fig 7a, which ensures a rotary pin 31 to move toward a heart cam 22 containing a guiding rail 22a, as illustrated in Fig 6, which allows the tray to be in-service;
on the other hand, in case that an impact exerted to the tray, a weight disc 70 is to be displaced, as illustrated in Fig 7b, to push a pushing part 62, placed inside a hemispheric groove 71, of the slider 60 toward the inner cover 50;
the rotation prevention pins 61 thus protruding is to be inserted through pin inserting holes 32 of the rotary 30 to render a locking unit 40 prohibit the rotary 30 from rotating, where, in the lock status of the rotary 30 as such, a tray cover 20 is not to rotate, either; and
when an impact is exerted to the vehicle, the weight disc 70 is to displace upward and downward pushing the pushing part 62, inserted in the hemispheric groove 71 of the weight disc 70 itself, toward the inner cover 50, which depicts the movement of the slider 60, wherein
because the said pushing part 62 is to be introduced along the surface of the hemispheric groove 71 compressing a fixing spring 55 placed inside the slider 60, the slider 60 is to return toward an outer cover upon the impact being released, which ensures the pushing part 62 to move the surface of the hemispheric groove 71 to be positioned at the center of the hemispheric groove as in its initial state, as illustrated in Fig 7a.
Although an embodiment of the present invention has been shown and described, the present invention is not limited to the described embodiment. Instead, it would be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made to the embodiment without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention, the scope of which is defined by the claims and their equivalents.
