Description

Quick attach information element to be connected on a graphic surface
The invention relates to a display device arrangement by means of which an electric quick attach display element can be connected to a graphic advertising element. Prior art
Different graphic marketing materials are utilized in advertising and marketing. In addition to handouts, different, at least semi-fixed graphic marketing means are used. These are, for example, walls of an advertising area in shops, fairs, exhibitions, events or promotion events. Graphic marketing arguments describing a product or service and associated with the advertised product or service are printed on the walls. Assembling as well as disassembling of semi-fixed wall solutions are time consuming.
So ^called roll-up racks that can be assembled and disassembled in a few minutes; have- been developed as a solution to the time related problem mentioned above. Figure 1 shows as an example a roll-up rack 1 , which is supported to a floor surrace n ¾ on its lower part. There are four main parts in the prior art roll-up rack. In the., example of Figure 1 a , storage box 11 and a stand support ,12 for an advertising sheet 13 have been connected against the floor surface 15, The advertising sheet 13 of the roll-up rack 1 rolls up to the storage box by the force of a spring, in the storage box 11 when it is released from, the stand support 12 holding up the advertising sheet. At the other end of the.advertising sheet 13 (at the upper end of Figure 1 ) there is a mechanic support element 14, to which the stand support 12 is attached when preparing the roll-up rack for performance. Data content 19 of the advertising sheet 13 is printed on the advertising sheet 13 in advance (passive graphic data medium). In case the data content has changed, the advertising sheet 13 of the roll-up rack has to be changed into a new one with data content corresponding to the changed situation.
In both solutions described above the marketing and data material to be shown is unchangeable because it is printed either on a fixed wall or on an advertising sheet of a roll-up rack. Use of different digital pictures, changing electronic material and videos as an advertising means, however, is becoming more common also in different marketing events. Thus, the changing data content has to be shown with a portable computer, tablet or on a separate TV screen, positioning of which is not always possible to be carried out in an optimal, way. A problem of the known solutions is the unchangeability of the used graphic data or required electric additional equipment which further has to be used in case it is desired to use changing data material.
Object of the invention The object of the invention is to provide a new light structured device arrangement by means of which changing graphic data can be presented as part of a fixed, planar graphic advertising surface containing printed graphic data elements.
The objects of the invention are attained with a device arrangement which utilizes a quick attach counterpart which is separate from an electric display and illuminating unit, by means of which an electric display unit can be attached to an existing planar, graphic advertising base as part of said advertising base. The advertising base can be, for example, a wall of a stand or a mountable roll-up rack.
An advantage of the device arrangement according to the invention is that the electric displa or illuminating device is a quick attach whereby attaching and detaching it is a quick procedure.
A further advantage of the invention is that the electric display device can be mounted in a desired point on a graphic advertising base, whereby it supports other data material on the graphic advertising surface on an optimal way.
Yet a further advantage of the invention is that there is no need to make holes on the graphic base itself for attaching means. '
The display device arrangement according to the invention using a planar structure element containing passive, graphic elements and means for its use position, is characterized in that the display device arrangement further comprises an active, electronic display unit and a counterpart of the displa unit, which are configured to attach by means of common quick attachment means on different sides of the planar structure element containing graphic elements.
Some advantageous embodiments of the invention are presented in the dependent claims.
The basic idea of the invention is the following: In the display device arrangement according to the invention the display or illuminating device contains advantageously only components required for presenting data or for illuminating, whereby it is light in weight. The display or illuminating unit is placed on the back side of the graphic surface (the side not used for presenting data). In case of a display unit, an opening having a form and size of the display unit of the display device may advantageously be made on the graphic surface to be used.
For attaching the display or illuminating unit on the graphic surface, the counterpart on the front side of the graphic surface (the side having the data material to be presented) is used. Advantageously, the counterpart has the size of the display unit of the display device, advantageously a rectangular frame made of plastic or light metal.
For attaching the display device on the graphic surface both the display device and the counterpart have magnets, which are attached to them so that when the side to be against the graphic surface of the counterpart is placed on the graphic surface, the magnets of the counterpart and the display device draw the display device into the used graphic surface. The attraction of the magnets to each other is so strong that the display device stays in its place by means of the counterpart. Singular separate magnets can be used in attaching or, for example, separate magnets in the counterpart can be replaced by a rectangular frame made of magnetic substance functioning as a frame structure for the counterpart, or by parts of it.
In the following, the invention will be described in detail. In the description, reference is made to the enclosed drawings, in which
Figure 1 shows as an example a roll-up rack according to prior art,
Figure 2 shows as an example a roll-up rack according to the invention,
Figure 3a shows lower surface of a counterpart according to the invention, which is to be against the graphic surface, Figure 3b shows top surface of a counterpart according to the invention,
Figure 3c shows that surface of the display device according to the invention which is to be against the back side of the graphic surface, and
Figure 4 shows an embodiment of the device arrangement according to the invention as a cross-sectional view. The embodiments in the following description are given as examples only and a person skilled in the art can carry out the basic idea of the invention also in some other way than what is described in the description. Even though the description may refer to a certain embodiment or embodiments in several places, this does not mean that the reference would be directed towards only one described embodiment or that the described characteristic would be usable only in one described embodiment. The individual characteristics of two or more embodiments may be combined and new embodiments of the invention may thus be provided.
Figure 1 is presented in connection with the description of prior art. In the following, the invention will be described in more detail by using an electric display unit to be positioned on the roll-up rack by means of quick attachment means as an example. In the device arrangement according to the invention different background lights can also be used instead of the display unit or in addition to it. Figure 2 shows an advantageous embodiment of the invention, in which the display device arrangement according to the invention, the counterpart 21 and the display unit 31 (not presented in Figure 2) are attached to the advertising sheet 23 of the roll-up rack 2. The roll-up rack 2 according to the invention advantageously comprises a storage box 11 of the roll-up rack 2 according to prior art, a stand support of the roll-up rack 2 according to prior art (not presented in Figure 2) and a support element 14 according to prior art used for hanging the advertising sheet 23 forming a planar structure element 23. In addition to the fixed graphic data content the advertising sheet 23 has the display device arrangement according to the invention, the counterpart 21 of which attaches the display unit 31 not shown in Figure 2 at the opening 27 in the advertising sheet 23. Text, pictures or videos 29 supporting other information shown in the advertising sheet 23, can be shown on the screen 33 of the display unit 31 (which are not shown in Figure 2).
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention the counterpart 21 is advantageously a rectangular, plastic frame which is shown from above in Figure 2 (reference number 26), and which has an opening 27 in its middle part, the size of which corresponds substantially to the shape and size of the screen 33 of the display unit 31. In this embodiment, the display unit 31 may advantageously comprise a touch screen via which the data content to be shown can be changed. In another advantageous embodiment of the invention the counterpart 21 has a transparent cover glass or the like 28 completely fulfilling the opening 27 in the counterpart 21. In this embodiment, the cover glass 28 prevents damaging of the screen 33 in all circumstances. The Figure 3a shows an advantageous counterpart 21 according to the invention as seen from the lower part 22. The lower part 22 of the counterpart 21 is placed against the advertising sheet 23, when the display device arrangement according to the invention is attached to the advertising sheet 23 of the roll-up rack 2. Figure 3a shows six separate magnets 25 placed as an example on the lower part 22 of the counterpart 21 , which are attached to the counterpart in connection with its manufacture. The number and placement of the magnets 25 are not limited to the number and location shown in Figure 3a.
In another advantageous embodiment of the invention the separate magnets 25 are substantially replaced with strips having the length of the sides of a rectangular forming the counterpart 21 and being in the direction of the same, and made of ferromagnetic substance.
In a third advantageous embodiment of the invention, the lower surface 22 of the counterpart 21 has a rectangular counterpart made of ferromagnetic substance, which counterpart is attached to the lower surface 22 of the counterpart 21 or it is positioned into an injection moulded counterpart which is at least partly plastic, in connection with the manufacture of the counterpart. In this embodiment, the rectangular ferromagnetic counterpart functions as a counterpart for the magnets 35 of the display unit 31. This embodiment enables more free placement of the display unit 31 compared to the counterpart 21. Figure 3b shows the counterpart 21 according to the invention as seen from above 26 it. Advantageously, the counterpart has a rectangular opening 27. In an advantageous embodiment a transparent glass or plastic has been installed into the opening 27.
Figure 3c shows parts to be placed against the back side of the advertising sheet 23 of an advantageous display unit 31. In Figure 3c an exemplary graphic presentation 29 can be seen on the display element 33 of the display unit 31. The display unit 31 may be, for example, a LCD or LED display unit. The display element 33 of the display unit 31 is surrounded by a rectangular frame 32, which is part of the casing structure of the display unit 31. In the example of Figure 3c, the frame 32 included in the display unit 31 has six exemplary separate magnets 35. The placement of the magnets 35 corresponds to the placement of the magnets 25 of the counterpart 21 in Figure 2a. The magnets 35 are attached to the frame 32 so that their polarity is reversal compared to the corresponding magnets 25 of the counterpart 21. By placing the display unit 31 and the counterpart 21 against each other on the opposite sides of the advertising sheet 23 magnetic attraction is formed between the magnets 25 and 35 pulling them towards each other, whereby the display unit 31 attaches on to the advertising sheet 23 by means of the counterpart 21.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention the separate magnets 35 are replaced with strips having substantially the length of the sides of the frame 32 and being in the direction of the same, and made of ferromagnetic substance.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention the display element 33 is surrounded by the rectangular frame 32 made of magnetic substance, which frame is attached to the casing structure of the display unit 3 .
Figure 4 shows as an exemplary cross-sectional view the attachment of the devices according to the invention to the advertising sheet 23. The mutual dimensions of the advertising sheet 23, counterpart 21 and display unit 31 are only exemplary and the dimensions have been chosen so that they can be clearly distinguished from each other.
Thickness of the advertising sheet 23 is chosen to be such that the attraction between the magnets 25 of the counterpart 21 and the magnets 35 of the display unit 31 presses the display unit 31 against the frame 22 of the counterpart 21 with such a force that the created pressing force inhibits the display unit 31 from detaching from the rear surface of the advertising sheet 23 or from moving along the rear surface of the advertising sheet 23 in direction of the floor surface 15 due to the gravitational force.
The display element 33 of the display unit 31 according to the invention is positioned at the opening 27a in the advertising sheet 23. In the example of Figure 4, a transparent glass or plastic 28 is attached to the opening 27a of the counterpart 21 to protect the display element 33 of the display unit 31. In addition to the display element 33 described above, the display unit 31 comprises advantageously a battery or a network access, at least one processor unit as well as volatile and non-volatile memory. Furthermore, the display unit may comprise either wired or wireless communication means for modifying or monitoring the data content of the display unit.
The invention may also be utilized in different banderoles, in the walls of a stand or an in the in-shop structures used in product marketing.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention a background light, which is positioned on the used graphic structure element by means of the quick attachment means according to the invention, can be used instead of the display unit or in addition to it.
Some advantageous embodiments of the display arrangement according to the invention have been described above. The invention is not limited to the solutions described above, but the inventive idea can be applied in numerous ways within the scope of the claims.
