Abstract

A bracket consisting of resilient plastics with flexible, curled-up lips provides good hold for cables which can simply be pushed into it, using a stick with a Y- shaped guide on one side and a gripping tongs for extraction on the other side.

Description

Cable Bracket with Remote Insertion and Extraction Facility
Field of the Invention The invention relates to the field of electrical construction components and more specifically to cable brackets for securing electrical cables to structural components in buildings.
Background of the Invention
There is a substantial increase in the number of electrical cables and wires that are installed and routed in buildings above and below ceilings. Safety regulations enforce that these cables must be supported at regular intervals.
Prior Art
There are quite a few constructions known for supporting cables at walls or ceilings, most of them as U or J-shaped brackets to lay up cables thereon - as with pre-WW2 constructions or newly registered patents CN 2017420563 (U)and CN201322140(Y).
More particular is US 4.690.356 made of wire, US 5.738.313 having a deck handrail and holder latched therein, US 6.34904.399 B2, using a basic bracket and plastic cable holders fixing the cables thereon ( here CN201374539(Y) seems to be similar and to some degree DE 69313419 T2), furthermore US 6.572.058 B2, using wall -mounted brackets of two sections for preventing entanglement of cables, which is also the purpose of US 6.857.606 B l , US 7.021.591 Bl and US 7.438.265 B2, whereas this seems to be a problem only in special cases.
But when it comes to fixing cables on ceilings all of these existing support designs require manual work on ladders or scaffolds to insert and fix the cables. However, there are designs known, where it is possible to push the cable into the bracket through lips or latches, e.g. US 8.240.619 and DE 9013096 Ul or DE 202004010496 Ul , which possibly can be done remotely with particular instruments.
But one of the shortcomings of these designs is, that sorting a cable out from these brackets is tedious and must again be done manually. Summary of the Invention
It therefore is the aim of the here disclosed invention to find a way of inserting and extracting cables from brackets without using ladders or scaffolds.
This is achieved by the combination of a bracket with suitable lips, where a cable can be pushed through to be safely held - and an instrument, comprising a stick or rod, having a Y-shaped profile on one end, by which cables can be guided along and pushed into said lips, and remotely operated gripping tongs mecha- nism on its opposite side - by with which it is possible to open these bracket's lips by pushing it in between and gripping the cable to be worked on.
This is particularly achieved with a bracket consisting of resilient plastics, preferably PVC, with reenforced corners on its downside and flexible, curled-up lips, which would provide equally good hold without buckling under the load of a bunch of cables as it allows to open the lips by simply pushing thereon.
Detailed Description along to the Drawings:
Fig. 1 demonstrates the profile of the design: a basic body 1 , that may be fas- tened hanging on a ceiling 2 with screws and dowels through its fixing holes 3, comprising two self closing lips 4 and 5, shaped like inversely bent hooks that cling together on their periphery 6, leaving a V-shaped gap 7 between them where a cable can be pressed in, so that the lips would open. Fig. 2 shows the instrument for to guide and to push the cables in, comprising the basic stick or tube 10, a head 11 in Y-shape made of easily gliding plastics (e.g. PTFE) by which cables can be moved and pushed in between the holder's lips (see 4, 5 in Fig. 1) and a gripping tongs 12, with a double-action lever 13, by which the afore mentioned lips of the holder may as well be pushed open and single cables may be gripped and extracted.

Claims

What is claimed is:
1. A cable bracket, comprising a almost rectangular hollow body with a self- closing gap sealed with two flexible lips.
2. Cable bracket, as to claim 1 , wherein the flexible lips are first inwardly shaped unto the inflection of their curvature where the lips meet and further outwardly bending from their meeting point.
3. Cable bracket, as to claim 2, wherein the flexible lips are positioned in the middle of one lower baseplate, whereas the upper plate contains a fastening bore in its middle.
4. Cable bracket, as to claim 2 and 3, wherein the base plate contains two reinforcements in its corners to the side plate.
5. A corresponding mounting stick or tube, comprising a Y-shaped cable guide on one side and a remotely operated double-action gripping tongs on the other side.
