Abstract

A mechanical device for tightening laces comprising a hollow base (1) with openings (la) in opposite side walls. An operating rod (2), also with openings (2a) fits slidably within the hollow base (1). Laces (3) may be threaded through the openings (la, 2a) so that when the when operating rod (2) is slid in the direction y, such that the openings (2a) in the operating rod (2) are no longer aligned with the openings (la) in the base (1) then the laces are tightened. Optionally a tooth system is provided between the base (1) and the operating rod (2) which hampers undesirable sliding of the operating rod (2) within the base (1).

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 15 August 1014 (15.08.2014)
1. Mechanical device for tightening laces comprising
a hollow base (1)
with openings (la) in opposite side walls in shape of holes or slits, the base (1) has shape of a hollow body closed from four or three sides;
an operating rod (2) with openings (2a), the operating rod (2) fits slidably within the
hollow base (1);
laces (3), and laces (3) are threaded crosswise to sliding movement of the operating rod
(2) through the openings (la) in the base (1) as well as through the openings (2a) in the operating rod (2), and laces (3) stick out of the device on both sides of the device;
and tooth system between the base (1) and the operating rod (2) which prevents sliding of the operating rod (2) within the base (1), where tooth system between the base (1) and the operating rod (2) consists of tooth system (lb) which is on the inner surface of wall of the base (1) and tooth system (2b) which is on the contact surface of operating
rod (2) with the base (1), and tooth systems (lb) and (2b) fit together.
2. Method for tightening laces by mechanical device according to claim 1 characterized in that
when the operating rod (2) is slid in the direction Y, parallel to contact surfaces of base (1) and operating rod (2), openings (2a) in the operating rod (2) are not longer aligned with the openings (la) in the base (1) and the distance between openings (la) and (2a) grows, then the laces (3) are tightened, and the laces (3) are released when the operating rod (2) is slid in the direction -Y together with simultaneous force impact on the laces (3) in the
direction X crosswise to sliding movement of the operating rod (2).
3. Method for tightening laces by mechanical device according to claim 1 and 2
characterized in that when the operating rod (2) is slid in the direction Y, parallel to
contact surfaces of base (1) and operating rod (2), openings (2a) in the operating rod (2) are not longer aligned with the openings (la) in the base (1) and the distance between
openings (2a) and (la) grows, then the laces (3) are tightened, and when operating rod (2) is slid in the direction W crosswise to sliding movement of the operating rod (2) then the operating rod (2) is separated from the base (1) and also laces (3) are separated from the base (1).
