In a video display system in which a user performs an input operation while watching a display video, such as a computer game, the time difference between the timing when the user performs an input operation and the timing of a video change that changes according to the user's input operation is large The user gets the impression that the operability is bad. In such a video display system, it is desirable that the video changes immediately following the user's input operation, and the delay time between the timing when the user performs the input operation and the timing of the video change is zero. Ideal.
However, in reality, in such a video display system, a controller that accepts a user's input operation, an arithmetic device that receives the operation signal and performs arithmetic processing and outputs a video signal, and receives the video signal and displays the video Time required for processing occurs in each of the video devices that perform the processing. That is, the sum of them becomes the delay time.
In such a video display system, for example, the delay time is evaluated for individual devices such as a controller and a video device. Further, there is a technique of operation delay and display correction in a game machine in which an operation unit and a display unit are integrated (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, in a video display system, a controller, a computing device, and a display device may be used with different device configurations and different settings. In such a case, the delay time of the entire system changes. For this reason, there is a problem that the delay time of the entire system cannot be evaluated from the measurement results of the individual devices.
Furthermore, in a plurality of video display systems that execute video in synchronization with each other, there is a possibility that an error may occur in the delay time from the user input operation until the video change occurs in the video display device. There is a problem that the difference in response of the video display system due to the error in the delay time causes unfairness among users.
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and an object thereof is to provide a video display system that takes into account the delay time over the entire video display system from the user's input operation to the occurrence of a video change in the video display device. In addition, the present invention detects the delay time from the input operation of the operation switch provided in the controller until the video display device displays the video according to the input operation, and further adjusts the video display to be delayed in addition to the detection result A video display device comprising: an input unit for inputting a value; and a control arithmetic unit for delaying and displaying a video corresponding to the video signal based on the adjustment value input to the input unit.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an input unit for inputting an adjustment value for delaying a time from an input operation of an operation switch provided in the controller to outputting a video signal according to the input operation, and an adjustment value input to the input unit And a control arithmetic unit that delays the video corresponding to the video signal and outputs the delayed video to the video display device.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an input unit for inputting an adjustment value for delaying a time from an input operation of an operation switch provided in the controller to a video display device displaying an image according to the input operation, and the input to the input unit. And a control calculation unit that delays the video corresponding to the video signal based on the adjustment value and displays the delayed video on the display unit.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an operation detection step for detecting a timing at which an input operation is performed on an operation switch provided in a controller, and a video change of a video display device in which an image is changed via an arithmetic device based on the input operation to the operation switch. A video change detection step for detecting the timing of the image, and a time difference measurement step for measuring a time difference between the timing detected in the operation detection step and the timing detected in the video change detection step and outputting the measured time difference. This is a delay time detection method.
According to the present invention, the delay time can be detected over the entire system from the user's input operation to the occurrence of the video change in the video display device, so that the entire system can be evaluated. Thereby, since the video display system which considered this evaluation result can be constructed | assembled, the error of delay time with another video display system can be reduced. In addition, since the delay time is set in consideration of other systems in the arithmetic device or the video display device, errors in delay time with other video display systems can be reduced.

FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating a configuration example of a video display system targeted by the delay time detection system 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
The video display system targeted by the delay time detection system 200 is, for example, a video game system, and includes a controller 10, a calculation device 11, and a video display device 12.
The controller 10 includes pushbutton switches 10a and 10b and a cross switch 10c. These switches are collectively referred to as operation switches. The controller 10 outputs a signal corresponding to the operation of the user to the arithmetic device 11 when the operation switches 10a, 10b, and 10c are pressed by the user.
The computing device 11 includes an input unit that inputs a signal from the controller 10, a storage unit that stores a program to be executed, a control computation unit that executes a program such as a video game and outputs a signal based on the computation result; An output unit that outputs a video signal to the video display device 12 based on a signal from the control calculation unit is provided.
This input unit is equipped with not only an interface corresponding to signal input, but also various types of switches including dip switches, etc., and delay time can be set for the video signal output from the output unit by a combination operation of these switches. You may be able to do it.
The computing device 11 outputs, for example, the timing at which the result calculated by the control computing unit is output to the video display device 12 with a delay according to the time set by the switch. The arithmetic unit 11 may output the result output from the control arithmetic unit to the video display device 12, and may output an instruction signal for instructing a time for delaying the timing for drawing the video signal. This instruction signal is determined according to the time set by the switch. That is, an adjustment value for adjusting the timing of signal processing that affects the video display system is set via the switch of the input unit included in the arithmetic device 11.
The video display device 12 changes the video display based on the video signal input from the arithmetic device 11.
That is, when a signal is input by operating the switch of the controller 10, the video of the video display device 12 changes through the processing of the arithmetic device 11.
例えばOSD(On Screen Display)による設定プログラムを実行する。 The video display device 12 is, for example, a liquid crystal display, and includes a control calculation unit, a video processing unit, a display unit, and an input unit. The control calculation unit of the video display device 12 controls each unit of the video display device 12. For example, a setting program by OSD (On Screen Display) is executed. Moreover, the control calculation part of the video display apparatus 12 has a memory | storage means. The video processing unit of the video display device 12 includes a buffer memory that temporarily holds data in image processing. The display unit of the video display device 12 displays images, characters, a video game operation screen, and the like based on the video signal output from the output unit of the arithmetic device 11. The input unit of the video display device 12 includes a signal input unit such as a video signal, a button switch used for setting an OSD, and the like. Here, a measurement value output from the time difference measurement device 41 of the delay time detection system 200 may be input to the input unit of the video display device 12.
Here, in the OSD, a setting for adjusting the delay time from the reception of the video signal to the display may be performed. For example, in order to extend the delay time, the buffer memory provided in the video processing unit of the video display device 12 is used, and the data is temporarily stored in the image processing device and then output to the control calculation unit of the video display device 12. Let the process. By this processing, the delay time can be adjusted, and the delay time can be extended, for example, in milliseconds. The adjustment of the delay time is performed by the control calculation unit of the video display device 12 based on an adjustment value input from the OSD, for example.
FIG. 3 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of a delay time detection system 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 3, the delay time detection system 200 includes an operation detection device 21, a video change detection device 31, and a time difference measurement device 41.
Note that the delay time detection system 200, the operation detection device 21, the video change detection device 31, the time difference measurement device 41, the controller 10, the arithmetic device 11, and the video display device 12 in FIG. The operation detection device 2, the image change detection device 3, the time difference measurement device 4, the controller 5, the arithmetic device 6, and the video display device 7 are respectively supported.
The operation detection device 21 includes a push button switch 21a. For example, when the push button switch 10b included in the controller 10 is pushed by the push button switch of the operation detection device 21, both push button switches are pushed simultaneously, and at that timing, the operation detection device 21 sends the detection signal to the time difference measuring device. 41 is output.
The push button switches 10a and 10b and the cross switch 10c of the controller 10 and the push button switch 21a of the operation detecting device 21 detect a signal due to an input operation from the operation switch as the switch operating characteristics are closer. The timing approaches. That is, the time difference between the timing at which an input operation on the operation switch included in the controller 10 is detected and the timing at which the input operation on the push button switch 21a included in the operation detection device 21 is detected becomes small.
Therefore, it is desirable that the push button switch of the operation detection device 21 can adjust operation characteristics such as operation load and stroke. Specifically, the allowable error of the timing at which the input signal of the controller 10 and the input signal of the operation detecting device 21 are detected is set to be less than or equal to the millisecond order, similar to the allowable error in the video change detecting device 31 described later. The operation characteristics of the push button switch 21a of the operation detection device 21 may be adjusted.
By using the above-described method, the operation detection device 21 can detect the input operation signal of the controller 10 even though the controller 10 itself does not have a function of detecting a signal in the input operation of the operation switch. .
That is, in the past, when measuring the delay time, there was a problem that the controller had to be disassembled and a difficult modification such as adding wiring for taking out the detection signal had to be made. The detection signal of the operation switch can be taken out without modification.
The video change detection device 31 includes a color sensor that can detect a video change in the order of milliseconds, and outputs a detection signal to the time difference measurement device 41. Here, the millisecond order is, for example, a sensor specification that satisfies a specification that a response time until a signal is detected is 1 millisecond or less. The sensor may be a monochrome luminance sensor as long as it can detect a change in video.
The time difference measuring device 41 calculates a difference between the timing at which the detection signal is input from the operation detection device 21 and the timing at which the detection signal is input from the video change detection device 31, and as a delay time of the video change with respect to the user operation. Output.
As an output method, for example, a timing chart of input signals of the operation detection device 21 and the video change detection device 31 and a calculated delay time are displayed on a display unit included in the time difference measurement device 41.
In this embodiment, the time difference measuring device 41 has a timer function, and starts counting when a detection signal is input from the operation detection device 21, and stops counting when a detection signal is input from the video change detection device 31. An example in which the elapsed time when the count is stopped is output as the delay time of the video display system will be described.

Although not shown in FIG. 4, the time difference measurement unit 41 may include an output unit, and the delay time measurement result may be output to an external device such as the video display device 12 or the arithmetic device 11.
Further, the time difference measuring device 41 may be built in the video display device 12. In this case, an operation detection signal, a video change detection signal, and an adjustment value indicating a predetermined delay time can be input to the input unit of the video display device 12 to display the measurement result, and the delay time is further longer than the measurement result. The display can be delayed by increasing.
In the video display system targeted by the delay time detection system 200, when the controller 10 is operated by the push button switch of the operation detection device 21, a signal is processed through the arithmetic device 11, and as a result, a predetermined signal generated in the video display device 12. Are detected by the image change detecting device 31.
Here, the delay time measured by the time difference measuring device 41 included in the delay time detection system 200 in the present embodiment will be described.
FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating the delay time measured by the time difference measuring device 41 included in the delay time detection system 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
First, when a user performs an input operation from the controller 10 and the controller 10 detects a signal input from the operation switch, a first delay time Ta occurs. For example, when the sampling frequency at which the controller 10 detects a signal is 60 Hz, a maximum delay time of 16.6 ms occurs.
Next, the arithmetic device 11 receives the signal output from the controller 10, performs a predetermined arithmetic processing, and then outputs a video signal to the video display device 12. The time required for the processing at this time is the second delay time Tb.
Then, the video display device 12 receives the video signal from the arithmetic device 11, performs predetermined image processing, and displays it as a video. For example, a certain processing time is required until a video signal is received and displayed as a video image including image processing using information of a plurality of frames such as I / P conversion, overdrive, and motion interpolation. The time required for the processing at this time is the third delay time Tc.
In the video display system, since the user recognizes the time from the timing of the input operation to the timing of the video change as the delay time, as shown in FIG. 5, if the delay time of the entire video display system is Ts, Ts = Ta + Tb + Tc.
In the present invention, the time difference between the operation detection signal and the video change detection signal is calculated, and this Ts is calculated.
Here, the operation of the delay time detection system 200 in the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS.
FIG. 6 is a first diagram for explaining the operation of the delay time detection system 200 according to the embodiment of the present invention.
First, the user presses the button of the controller 10 with the push button switch of the operation detection device 21, and in the example of FIG. 6, the push button switch 10b is pressed. By this operation, the time difference measuring device 41 receives the detection signal from the operation detecting device 21 and starts measuring the delay time. The time difference measuring device 41 displays a timing chart of the detection signal on the display unit.
In the input operation from the pushbutton switch of the controller 10 described above, a first delay time Ta occurs when the controller 10 detects a signal.
The arithmetic device 11 performs an operation based on a signal from the controller 10 and outputs a signal to the video display device 12. A second delay time Tb occurs during this calculation process.
FIG. 7 is a second diagram for explaining the operation of the delay time detection system 200 according to the embodiment of the present invention.
The video display device 12 receives a signal from the arithmetic device 11 and outputs a changed video through image processing. A third delay time Tc occurs during the image processing and the output of the video obtained by the image processing.
The video change detection device 31 detects a video change of the video display device 12 and outputs a detection signal to the time difference measurement device 41.
When receiving the detection signal from the video change detecting device 31, the time difference measuring device 41 ends the delay time counting and calculates the delay time Ts of the video display system. Further, the value of the delay time Ts of the calculation result and the timing chart of the detection signal are displayed on the display unit.
In the above description, the delay time of signal processing and arithmetic processing in the delay time detection system 200 is not considered, but is ignored if the delay time is equal to or less than a predetermined value that can be allowed in the video display system. It's okay. When the delay time is larger than an allowable value, a correction process for subtracting the delay time of the delay time detection system 200 is performed in the delay time calculation process.
Note that the signal processing delay time in the above-described delay time detection system 200 is such that the video change detection device 31 detects a video change after the operation detection device 21 detects an input operation, and the time difference measurement device 41 detects the delay time. Is included in the processing excluding the arithmetic processing of the time difference measuring device 41 in a series of processing until the output of.
The delay time of the arithmetic processing in the delay time detection system 200 described above is included in the arithmetic processing of the time difference measuring device 41.
Note that the delay time satisfying a predetermined criterion that can be allowed in the video display system may be a value of, for example, the order of milliseconds or less, specifically, 1 millisecond or less.

As described above, according to the delay time detection system 200 in the present embodiment, it is possible to measure a delay time in which a video change occurs in the video display device in response to an input operation from the controller in the video display system. That is, it is possible to measure the delay time until the output of the video change with respect to the input operation in the entire video display system.
Further, it is possible to measure the delay time until the output of the video change with respect to the input operation without modifying the constituent devices of the video display system or adding the measuring device.
In the above-described embodiment, the operation detection device 21 has described the method for detecting the input operation with the push button switch. However, the input operation is not limited to a push button switch. For example, when the controller 10 accepts an input operation on the touch panel, the operation detection device 21 may be provided with a sensor that can detect the input operation on the touch panel so that the input operation can be detected.
In the above-described embodiment, the video change detection device 31 is an external device, but may be configured to accompany the video display device 12. Further, the time difference measuring device 41 may be attached to the video display device 12. In that case, the video display device 12 may control the image processing based on the detection result of the delay time.
In the above-described embodiment, the example in which the time difference measuring device 41 exists as one of the devices constituting the system has been described. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the structure incorporated in either the operation detection apparatus 21 or the image | video change detection apparatus 31 may be sufficient.
In the above-described embodiment, the case where the delay time of a set of video display systems is measured has been described. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and when the images of two or more sets of video display systems are used in synchronization, the result of the measured delay time can be further utilized. Here, an example of using two or more sets of video display systems in synchronization is an online computer game connected to a network.
As an example, assume that the video display system is two sets of networked computer game systems such as a boxing battle game. Although a delay time occurs in input / output of the entire system in each video display system, the delay time for each video display system is not necessarily the same due to a difference in device configuration and setting, and a difference may occur.
For example, in an online boxing battle game where a boxer punches as an output on the screen of the video display device 12 when the user depresses the pushbutton switch 10b of the controller 10 as an input, each user who competes presses the controller 10 There may be a difference in the delay time from when the button switch 10b is pressed until the target boxer to be operated on the screen starts punching.
Here, two sets of computer game systems will be described as a first video display system and a second video display system. The delay time is a value measured by the delay time detection system (delay time detection means) 200, and the method for inputting the measured delay time from the delay time detection system to the video display system is not limited. For example, delivery is performed via the input / output unit of each system.
First, in the first video display system, the timing at which an input operation is performed on the operation switches 10a, 10b, and 10c included in the controller 10, and the video change of the video display device in which the video changes via the arithmetic device based on the input operation Is the delay time A.
Next, in the second video display system, the timing at which an input operation is performed on the operation switches 10a, 10b, and 10c included in the controller 10, and the video of the video display device in which the video changes via the arithmetic device based on the input operation The change timing is defined as a delay time B.
The delay time A and the delay time B are not necessarily the same, and the difference is N.
Here, a method for utilizing the delay time will be described. When the delay time of the first video display system is A milliseconds and the delay time of the second video display system is B milliseconds (A <B), the delay time of the first video display system is (A + N). For example, setting information input from the OSD included in the video display device 12 is written in the storage unit of the control calculation unit of the video display device 12 so as to be milliseconds (N = BA). The entire video display system operates based on the setting information. As a result, the delay time from the input operation to the output response can be adjusted in the order of milliseconds in the two sets of video display systems.
In the above description, the method for setting the delay time of the video display system by the OSD of the video display device 12 has been described. However, it is not limited to this method. The delay time of the video display system may be adjusted by the arithmetic unit 11.
As described above, according to the video display system in the present embodiment, the delay time is evaluated over the entire video display system from the user input operation until the video change occurs in the video display device, and the video display system in consideration of the evaluation result is provided. By constructing, the difference in delay time from other video display systems can be reduced. In addition, by setting the delay time in consideration of other systems in the arithmetic device or the video display device, the difference in delay time from other video display systems can be reduced.
