Abstract

The invention relates to an LED converter which in a first embodiment is designed to operate selectively at least one LED series or other lamps having at least one LED, in particular dependent on a temperature detection or fixed in an operating mode for low temperatures, comprising: at least one electrolytic capacitor in an electrical supply path via which, starting from an electrical supply, in particular a main voltage or a direct current, the LED series can be supplied directly or via at least one converter stage, and a control circuit that is designed, to operate the LED series in the operating mode for low temperatures every time the electrical supply is switched on, for a predetermined period of time or for a period of time that is adaptive, in particular temperature-dependent, at a reduced capacity compared with the nominal capacity, in particular at a specific dimmed value, and after expiry of the period of time to allow the operation at non-reduced capacity.
