Abstract

Systems and methods for maintaining operation of a virtualization system through an occurrence of an uncorrectable error are disclosed. One system includes a plurality of partitions each including a memory storing non-native software to be executed within that partition and one or more virtual processors. The system also includes a plurality of processors each dedicated to one of the plurality of partitions, and a plurality of monitors, each assigned to a partition and configured to expose the processor dedicated to that partition to the non-native software. The plurality of partitions includes an ultravisor partition and guest partitions. Upon detection of an uncorrectable error in a partition, a state of that partition is captured. The ultravisor partition is configured to allocate computing resources to a new partition, including a processor different from the processor dedicated to the partition in which the uncorrectable error occurred.
