Abstract

La présente invention a trait à un système de frein de sécurité pour masses en chute libre, qui comprend une dynamo comme capteur d'accélération et générateur de puissance électrique, laquelle active en outre un mécanisme qui produit une force de freinage sur le mouvement de descente d'une masse. Ledit système comprend deux câbles dont l'un est enroulé en sens opposé à l'autre, un châssis, un disque de friction et deux paliers sur lesquels est monté un arbre. L'arbre comporte en outre un tambour sur lequel se trouvent deux enrouleurs. L'enrouleur 1 enroule le câble principal, qui soutient la masse, en sens contraire à l'enroulement par l'enrouleur 2 du câble secondaire, qui soutient le contrepoids, et inversement, ce qui correspond à un système de rétraction du câble principal. De plus, une de ses extrémité comporte un amplificateur de vitesse qui fait tourner la dynamo selon le régime nécessaire pour produire au moins 12 volts, qui sont requis par une électrovanne. De cette manière l'électrovanne s'ouvre et permet le passage d'huile hydraulique sous pression jusqu'aux mâchoires afin que celles-ci se referment sur le disque de friction et appliquent la force requise pour arrêter le mouvement de descente de la masse. L'invention est en outre caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend un accumulateur interne d'huile hydraulique, dans lequel se trouve une vessie expansible chargée d'azote qui maintient l'huile hydraulique à une pression de mille livres (68 atm). De l'énergie accumulée est ainsi disponible, et peut être utilisée au besoin pour activer les mâchoires destinées à arrêter le disque monté sur l'arbre et à éviter ainsi la chute de la masse. Ce système détecte à quel moment un corps entre en chute libre après qu'il a parcouru les premiers 50 cm. Avec ce mécanisme, la vitesse angulaire de l'arbre du frein alimente l'entrée de l'amplificateur de vitesse, et une vitesse élevée de l'arbre de sortie de l'amplificateur de vitesse est obtenue et produit la tension nécessaire dans la dynamo pour provoquer l'ouverture de l'électrovanne.
