Description

Description
Method and Device for Processing an Order
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a method and a device for processing an order. Background Art
In daily operation processes of storage and distribution, after an order is sent to a warehouse, production is conducted at any time. The production process of the order is a process that a picker takes items off a picking storage position in the warehouse and then sends them to a checking area for checking and packaging.
The storage positions in the warehouse may be divided into picking storage positions and restocking storage positions. A picking storage position is an area for directly picking items, similar to product shelves in a supermarket. The picker can pick items directly from said area. A restocking storage position is similar to an area where full boxes of items are stacked above the item shelves in a supermarket, from which the picker cannot pick items directly. If the quantities at the picking position are not enough, a tally clerk is required to move in time full boxes of items to a picking area. The process of moving items from the restocking storage positions to the picking storage positions is a replenishing process.
The process of sending the order to the warehouse occurs in real time, production is correspondingly conducted in real time in the warehouse, including a process of locating the order, which is generally completed by a warehouse management system WMS. WMS (Warehouse Management System) is a business system commonly used in a company providing logistics services, and covers business processes of stock in and out, and operations inside a warehouse, etc., and realizes a fine management of items in the warehouse through coordination of respective operations.
In daily operations of a warehouse, if the stocks at the picking storage position cannot meet the quantity requirement of a client's order, the WMS system will generate an urgent restocking task for replenishing from the restocking storage position to the picking storage position of the warehouse. The packages, upon the completion of production (i.e., the completion of packaging), are stored temporarily in the warehouse or a certain specific area of a sorting center. Distribution vehicles will deliver packages to distribution sites at several time points every day, and then the distribution sites will deliver them to clients, completing a complete production process of the order.
During a locating process, the locations of respective items in an order at the picking storage position in the warehouse are determined. When the quantity of items at the picking storage position is less than the quantity ordered by the client in the order, the WMS system will automatically generate a task for replenishing from the restocking storage position to the picking storage position, and the tally clerk in the warehouse will move the items from the restocking storage position to the picking storage position. Then, the WMS locates again, and at this time, the quantities of items at the respective picking storage positions all meet the requirement of the client-ordered quantities in the order, so that a successful locating process is achieved.
After a successful locating process, the WMS assigns a picking task to indicate to the tally clerk the picking storage position and the items to be picked. Since sufficient items are guaranteed at the picking storage position in the case of a successful locating process, the tally clerk can pick items successfully , thereby completing the production of the order. The items not delivered in the same day will be stored temporarily in temporary storage areas in the warehouse. According to the practices in the prior art, when there are large amount of items not delivered in the same day, the temporary storage areas will occupy a lot of warehouse resources. The following part will illustrate exemplary embodiments of the present invention with reference to the figures, including various details of the embodiments of the present invention for better understanding. The following embodiments should be regarded only as illustrative. Therefore, those skilled in the art should appreciate that various changes or modifications will not depart from the scope and spirit of the present invention as defined in the embodiments above. Similarly, for clarity and simplicity, the depictions of the known functions and structure are omitted. The inventor noticed during the process of implementing the present invention that, although orders are sent in real time, not all the orders need to be delivered in the same day. The orders not to be delivered on the same day will not be distinguishable for a warehouse; thus, order production is conducted as usual and the items having been packaged will be stored temporarily in the temporary storage areas in the warehouse. In this case, since order production is conducted in advance in an unreasonable manner, the temporary storage areas will occupy a lot of warehouse area.
Therefore, in an embodiment of the present invention, a locating time of an order corresponding to a distribution site is set according to a production period of the distribution site; and a production time of the order is set according to the production period of the distribution site. When the locating time comes, a locating process is started for a received order, and when the production time of the order comes, a picking task starts to be assigned according to the locating result of the order. Said method can be implemented according to the steps as shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of one flow of a method for processing an order according to an embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in Fig. 1 , after an order is sent to a warehouse (step S l l), order data enter a WMS database (step S 12), and then the order is retrieved (step S13), and next it is determined whether it can be located (step SI 4). The basis for determination in step S 14 is to see whether the current time is a preset locating time of the order; if not, it is deemed that the locating process cannot be conducted, and so it waits until the locating time of the order comes, at which time said order starts to be located (step S 15). Since there could be situations where urgent replenishment is required, the locating process in step S 15 comprises a possible process in which an urgent replenishment is required during a locating process, and thus a restocking task is generated, and then the locating process is performed after the completion of the restocking task.
After the completion of the locating process, it is determined whether a picking task can be assigned (step S I 6). The basis for determination herein is to see whether the current time is the preset production time of the order; if not, it is deemed that the picking task cannot be assigned, and then it waits until the production time of the order comes, at which time the picking task starts to be assigned according to the locating result of step S I 5, and the production of the order is then conducted.
The use of the above method according to the embodiment of the present invention facilitates reduction of the time period for storing items in the temporary storage areas, such that the items in the temporary storage areas can be transported away as quickly as possible, whereby the quantities of items are reduced in the temporary storage areas and less warehouse resources are occupied by the temporary storage area. A specific numeric example is provided below for illustration. Assuming that there is one corresponding site 001 in the WMS, and the production time of the site 001 is 13:00-16:00, i.e., order production corresponding to said site can only be allowed from 13 :00 to 16:00 every day. According to the practices in the prior art, if a certain order corresponding to said site is sent to a warehouse at 8:00 am, the system will start the locating process directly for this order. If replenishment is required, the WMS system will generate a restocking task, and the tally clerk will immediately complete the restocking task of replenishing items for the picking storage position. After the completion of the restocking task, the order is relocated and the locating process is successful. A printing person on the site assigns said order to start the production. Calculated based on the replenishment time period of 30 minutes and the production time period of the order of 60 minutes, the time when the packaging will be completed for the order is 9:30am. If distribution vehicles arrive at the warehouse at 17:00pm, the total waiting time period for the packages is 7.5 hours. That is to say, the order is required to be temporarily kept in a temporary storage area in the warehouse or the sorting center for 7.5 hours.
According to the above solution of the present embodiment, the order starts to be located at 12:00pm after being sent to the warehouse at 8:00am, and an urgent replenishment is required. It takes the tally clerk 30 minutes to complete the restocking task. At 13:00pm, a picking task is generated for said order. It takes The picker on the site one hour to complete the picking task. That is to say, the packaging for said order is completed at 14:00pm, and the packages are placed in the temporary storage area. Distribution vehicles arrive at the warehouse at 17:00pm. So this order is kept in the temporary storage area for three hours, which is four hours shorter than the temporary storage period in the prior art. During the four hours, the stocks in the temporary storage area are relatively small in quantity, so less warehouse resource is occupied by the temporary storage area.
Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of basic steps of another method for processing an order according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in Fig. 2, such a method for processing an order mainly comprises step S21 and step S22.
At step S21 , the time for receiving an order by a warehouse is set according to a production period of a distribution site. In this method, the order is in fact intercepted. After the WMS database receives the order, the WMS system does not accept the order at once but accepts the order at the time set for accepting the order by the warehouse.
At step S22, when the time for accepting the order by the warehouse comes, the order sent to the warehouse starts to be located and a picking task is assigned. The locating process in this step also includes a possible replenishment process. In this step, the picking task starts to be assigned after the completion of the locating process.
It can be seen that the flow as shown in Fig. 2 can also reduce the residence time period of the items in the temporary storage area and facilitate the reduction of item stocks in the temporary storage areas, thereby reducing the warehouse resource occupied by the temporary storage areas.
Explanation of a device for processing an order according to an embodiment of the present invention is given below. Said processing device can be arranged in a computer running a WMS system. Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of a basic structure of a device for processing an order according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in Fig. 3, a device 30 for processing an order according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a storing module 31 , a locating module 32, and an assigning module 33.
The storing module 31 is used for storing a locating time and a production time of an order; the locating module 32 is used for starting to locate a received order when the locating time comes; and the assigning module 33 is used for starting to assign a picking task according to the locating result of the order when the production time of the order comes.
The locating time and the production time of the order can be either a time value , or a time period of the production period of a distribution site inputted by a person, based on which the device 30 for processing the order sets the locating time and the production time of the order. Thus, the device 30 for processing the order may further comprise a setting module (not shown in the figure) for setting the locating time of the order corresponding to the distribution site according to the production period of the distribution site and for setting the production time of the order according to the production period of the distribution site.
