Abstract
Process for the production of liquefied impure ethylene LIE from a gas mixture GM which contains ethylene in a quantity of less than 99.80 % by volume and other constituents among which at least one lower boiling gas BG using two stage JT-expansion and recycling of the flash gases GP1 and GP2 and the boil-off gas BOFF from the LIE storage device to the gas mixture GM. The low boiling gas BG is purged from the process either from an intermediate liquid stream LP or from the first flash gas stream GP1, re-liquefied to generate a liquid phase REC and returned back to an intermediate liquid stream LP or LP1 in order to increase the LIE recovery.
