  • the recognition means operate via optical recognition of the unique identifier. The movement of the device to a predetermined external appearance can be in direct response to the recognition of said unique identifier.
  • Top notes represent the most volatile part of the fragrance, these notes are usually perceived first by a human nose. Top notes typically consist of small, light molecules having comparatively low evaporation temperatures. The middle notes typically represent the "heart" of the mixture as they often provide the majority of the fragrance. The base notes are typically the least volatile part of the mixture and includes the heaviest molecules, therefore, the base note(s) usually linger for the longest period. Base notes are typically associated with giving a fragrance depth, solidity and richness. A fragrance is typically made up of 10% top notes, 60% middle notes and 30% base notes.
  • the refill is a refill pod suitable for use for periods of emanation between 1 to 16 hours, but preferably 1 to 8 hours and the device is configured to interact with the refill pod to control the emanation rate of the top notes, middle notes and base notes of the fragrance to affect the ambiance created.
  • the control of the emanation rate is preferably to be imparted in response to recognition of a unique identifier on the refill pod.
  • the device is provided with more than one light emitting means, preferably the device is provided with more than one light emitting diode as the light emitting means, and more preferably light emitting diodes configured to emit more than one colour.

  • the light emitting means may be configured to intermittently emit light via one or more pulsed intervals of light emission.
  • the light emitted by the device in use conforms to a series of predetermined lighting arrangements which correspond to either a user defined input and/or in response to the refill retained in the device.
  • the light emitted by the device to a predetermined lighting arrangement can be in direct response to the recognition of said unique identifier.
  • the movement of the device housing is, at least in part, responsible for changing the intensity of the emitted light, for instance, said movement may expose or obscures one or more light emitting means and/or said movement may provide surface areas of the device housing of different sizes in close proximity to the light emitting means such that more or less of the device housing is illuminated by said light emitting means.

  • a device for modifying the ambiance of a local environment comprising a device housing with retaining means configured to releasably retain a refill of volatile fluid in engagement with the device, wherein the device is provided with at least one light emitting means operable, in use, to emit at least two different colours and the device is further provided with emanation means operable, in use, to emanate the volatile fluid into the surrounding environment, and wherein the device housing is movable between at least two distinct configurations to impart at least two distinct external appearances to the device.
  • a refill for use in an assembly according to the first aspect of the present invention or with a device according to the second aspect of the present invention, wherein the refill comprises a refill housing containing at least one reservoir of volatile fluid therein, the volatile fluid containing fragrance; and the refill is provided with retention means that are configured, in use, to cooperate with the device retaining means.

  • the device 2 is shown as having a base 3 which is used to locate the device 2 on a surface and having a device housing consisting of a first piece 5 and a second piece 6 wherein the first and second pieces 5,6 are movable with respect to each other..
  • the movement of the first and second device housing pieces 5,6 with respect to each other can be seen. Whilst the first piece 5 remains static relative to the device base 3, the second piece 6 rotates by 90°. The movement provides the device 2 with a second distinct external appearance relative to a first external appearance as shown in Fig.1 .
  • the movement of the second piece better exposes the light emitting means 7, shown in Fig.2 as a series of LEDs.
  • light emitted from the light emitting means will be visible externally from at least the space between the first piece 5 and the second piece 6 of the device housing.
  • the movement of the device 2 to the second distinct external appearance permits the light emitting means 7 to be more visible externally and, thus, increases the intensity with which the light is emitted.
  • Fig.1 illustrates the assembly 1 in a 'calming' mode wherein the assembly is configured to promote a calming ambience, specifically by orientating the device housing in a non-energetic appearance, emitting a calming light (both in colour and intensity) and the refill containing a calming fragrance such as a light floral fragrance, ie- lavender.
  • Fig.2 illustrates the assembly 1 in a 'energetic' mode wherein the assembly is configured to promote an energetic ambience, specifically by orientating the device housing in an exaggerated and energetic appearance, emitting an energetic light (both in colour and intensity and with pulsing emissions of light) and the refill containing a energetic fragrance such as a marine or spicy fragrance.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un ensemble de modification de l'ambiance d'un environnement local, qui comprend un dispositif et une recharge remplaçable de fluide volatil, la recharge comprenant un boîtier de recharge contenant au moins un réservoir de fluide volatil à l'intérieur de celui-ci, le fluide volatil contenant un parfum ; et le dispositif comprenant un boîtier de dispositif ayant des moyens de retenue configurés pour retenir de façon détachable la recharge en prise avec le dispositif, le dispositif comprenant au moins un moyen émetteur de lumière conçu, en utilisation, pour émettre au moins deux couleurs différentes, et le dispositif comprenant en outre un moyen d'émanation conçu, en utilisation, pour dégager le fluide volatil dans le milieu environnant, et le boîtier de dispositif étant mobile entre au moins deux configurations distinctes pour conférer au moins deux aspects externes distincts au dispositif.
